You'd rather we do nothing but talk about worst case scenarios?  We didn't write the Interview, just shared it with you as another point of view.

Perspective is important.

Out of curiousity, are these actually tied to BTC in any way besides the branding?

Frankly that's a couple depressing responses.

So because, with study and care, I have the ability to secure my own property to a degree you deem safe, I am no longer allowed to decide for myself that I would like to spend my life on things besides security for a small fee?

I really don't see what the problem is here - If you don't like the concept, than don't use it.  Educate people to your way of thinking, but don't be surprised when not everyone feels like you.

Calling some business a "bank" doesn't make it a bank. Banks provide some well defined services:

1. Keeping deposits safe-this is not needed with bitcoin. Nobody can keep your bitcoin safer than you can yourself.

2. Lending at interest- this is very foolish when dealing with a generally appreciating currency. Underlying security for the loan decreases rather than increases over time. Negative equity becomes common which makes intentional loan defaults go up.

If you want to generate income off of your bitcoin holdings without selling your coin, write covered call contracts and sell them. This caps your up side, but other than that, relatively risk free (assuming your options broker doesn't skip town).

A Bitcoin Bank is unnecessary and should be met with serious skepticism.

Frankly I would use a deposit bank so I could pay a small fee to know my BTC are safe and accessable by myself or my relations in a safe and secure manner.

you would like time to accumulate lots of BTC?
Obviously.  Roll Eyes
Well, my response to that is cry moar noob - I wish I'd started buying Silver at 3.50 instead of $21, but I'm in it for the long haul and the fundamentals tell the truth.   You're an early adopter in the big picture.
88  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: This should be kept secret! !!!!!!!!!!!! on: July 01, 2011, 01:06:30 AM
Well in that case I suggest you sell all your bitcoins, because unless it fails as a currency it has exponential gains in its future.  Frankly though, I don't see what there is to cry about here - If you can't stand the volitility, just buy bitcoins to hold until the market stabilizes.

Or is this because you would like time to accumulate lots of BTC? I'm confused what the rationale for delaying....  Because it would be scary?
89  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: This should be kept secret! !!!!!!!!!!!! on: July 01, 2011, 12:27:57 AM
Sometimes you get in early, sometimes you get in late - If you're that concerned, seems like you should just buy more BTC now since the ratios say the final price will be in the thousands, making you an early adopter by your own standards.

Frankly, this is what the currency is designed to do - go exponential once the tipping point is reached and the buying becomes self reinforcing.   Buy BTC now, while the price is low.

Lets do it then, pick your "dream team" off the forum and lets see if we can get something going

Extremely well put, I could not agree more - We discuss this at length during todays episode of BitTalk with Atlas & Atom, and the flat reality is more and more goods and services are being offered for BTC, but there seem to be few takers.   If you've got thousands of bitcoins, help out the movement and go drop 10BTC at www.bitcoinclassifieds.net or one of the auction sites.

The BitTalk Podcast is seeking a transcriber to work with on this weeks episode - the pay is .5BTC for a clean, correct transcript of Episode 2 (which clocks at about 45 minutes of content)

Please take a look at our first BTC financed transcript (Episode 1) - This is the style we would like it in (although you could double space it and that would be just fine) - Format should be something that can be read by OpenOffice or Microsoft Word.

Also:
I am aware there are some volume leveling problems in this episode, same as last week - With our appearance on The BitTalk Show, I simply have not had time to fix the problem on my end - Episode 3 will be out Saturday the 9th of July, and it should be fixed by then.

That could be the headline, but I don't think anybody said anything close to that.  We were mostly just asking who benefits from monopolies?  Because it sure doesn't seem like it's "The People"

Not neccesarily, it could just be an exchange service like any other payment processor, except instead of processing from bank wire, etc. it would accept these keys.

But there needs to be a large end-market for the keys, so they can be turned into USD, which can then fund the purchase of Bitcoins which can then be traded for keys, etc.  You see?   The question is, does that end-user demand exist?   Certainly you can find people selling these keys and other people buying them, but how large is it? is it enough?
