I was clearly on the wrong track, because I liked GBR's minimal version the most!
Great job on that!

They look very cool. But what are they intended to be used for? They are definitively too strong for playing around and too weak to cut materials. I am sure there are billions of other uses for lasers but right now none comes to my mind. So a round of question to the interested parties: what would you use yours for?
152  Economy / Services / Re: create high resolution design for "you asked for change, we gave you coins" on: April 13, 2012, 02:56:24 PM
None of the ideas are worth even a comment or feedback?
Or is this thread simply forgotten?

This is a great example of Bitcoin's crises as a currency. We are here on the most popular bitcoin forum. And yet, people are more willing to pay USD for goods then BTCs. The same happened to me here (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=64283.0). Because Bitcoins are designed to be deflationary people are not willing to spend something that they expect to rise in value in the future.

An effective currency is a currency in circulation. The reluctance to separate from Bitcoins kills it as a currency.

What are you talking about? He said he would pay $150 USD bitcoin equivalent. How is he wanting to pay with USD?

Ooops. You are right.

155  Economy / Goods / Re: Buy tangible goods with Quirky e-gift cards on: March 16, 2012, 10:53:18 AM
I don't understand. Are you the owner of this site?

I am not the owner of that site, nor an employee. You don't have to be the owner of Amazon.com to sell Amazon gift cards. Quirky has over 200.000 members and I am one of them. I have earned some bucks there and have them sitting in my account. I could have them paid out but international payout is expensive and involves paperwork. So I thought I would just use my funds there to purchase gift cards and trade them for BTCs. I am kind of surprised by the lack of interest so I started posting images of stuff you can buy there.
156  Economy / Goods / Re: Buy tangible goods with Quirky e-gift cards on: March 14, 2012, 09:44:59 AM
I wonder what the relative disinterest is down to:
- the price ain't right: you want a higher discount
- there is nothing on quirky.com that you care to buy/use
- you do not trust me and fear that this may be a scam
- you would rather not spend BTCs as you like to keep them on you

I have to admit I was expecting a bit more liquidity in the BTC as a currency.
157  Economy / Marketplace / Re: searching to buy consumer products with btc on: February 23, 2012, 05:54:26 PM
The easiest way may be to buy gift cards for BTCs and spend the gift cards on tangible goods purchases.

Many international gift cards are traded here on the forums and most of them are coupon codes that can be sent over e-mails without actual shipment costs. See this entry for an example: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=64283.msg754216#msg754216
158  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTS] Quirky gift cards on: February 20, 2012, 06:57:19 PM
I will give the first buyer 12% discount to test the gift card purchase process and establish a good track record.
BTC weighted average is 4.40 on MtGox now. First buyer can have a $25 gift card for 5 BTCs.

Instead of Bitcoins, what about a MtGox USD Voucher?

How much for a $50.00 voucher?

Sorry, BTCs only!
