1  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why KYC is extremely dangerous – and useless on: August 09, 2021, 03:42:59 AM

Along side freezing the assets, Bitfinex is being asked to dox the account owner, and that is where the uncertainty is as to what KYC data the ransomware perpetrators used: their own personal data, or yours (generic third party)? The outcome may be considered good or bad in this case, depending on the wit of the perpetrators.

good point - was the hacker using stolen personal data to kyc ?  or did they catch the hacker because he used kyc ?  wonder how many "chainanalysis" traced accounts were opened with stolen personal info....that is where the kyc will start to spring back against exchanges....
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Tron is number one coin Now Specially trc20 USDT on: May 20, 2021, 12:04:07 PM
To be honest, I am just using the Tron network when I want to transfer USDT between exchanges since it is cheap for withdrawal fee, besides that, I don't find any good thing uses of Tron.
But now there is already a lot of alternatives with Tron for transferring stable coins like USDT. Like Solana ecosystem which is they have already USDC/USDT SPL, which is you can receive USDC/USDT using the Solana ecosystem. There are still few exchanges using this, which I find quite a good alternative for USDT/USDC besides the Tron network.

Solana is interesting but needs more/easier on ramps......

" USDC/USDT SPL " - did you mean SLP on the BCH network or spl is from the solona network something ?  BCH has a usdt on the SLP network, not heavily used, suffers like solana from lack of on/off ramps.  Not a BCH baby but SLP tether caught my attn.
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Tron is number one coin Now Specially trc20 USDT on: May 20, 2021, 03:17:52 AM
Looking into trc20 myself, it checks alot of boxes - true.  There is a need for it - true.  It is a great marketing scheme to bring users to tron network - also true.

Exultation Moderation:  as everyone gets comfortable with a seemingly good thing (fast cheap transactions of usdt trc20) it is important to remember the usdt on trc20 is only safe as long as its owners allow it....in this time where companies, founders, and ceo are being personally threatened to dismantle privacy and remove anything that enables anonymity and sovereignty - some founders will not stand against dismantling - many are not saints, not satoshi, many are shrewd morally free businessmen who have proven they will do anything to get out of trouble and increase their personal wealth.  NOT THAT THERE IS ANYTHING WRONG WITH THAT.Some  may even respect it   ...but always possible for un-welcome surprises.  Check out history of founders CZ binance and Justing Sun before putting all your stable coins on one network because it is cheap and fast right now   BTC could benefit from a btc blockchain usdt alternative, but thats for another bedtime story.......
4  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Transfer USDT through TRC20 on: May 20, 2021, 02:32:03 AM
So this means that at the moment the best non-custodial wallet where we can store most of our coins is trust wallet as it supports almost all of the blockchains.

You've got Coinomi as well, but I'd personally stick to TrustWallet especially if you're interested in using DEXes that uses WalletConnect.

All these support usdt (TRC20) :
Atomic wallet
Guarda Wallet
exodus.com
Coinomi
Jaxx Liberty

Trustwallet sounds very convenient .....but how to use it privately and sudo-anonymously - is that really impossible ??
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: My Little Experience with USDT - TRC20 on: May 19, 2021, 12:00:37 AM
great thread, myetherwallet supports trx but anyone know how to transfer trc20 to myetherwallet ?  is that still possible or that ended when trc20 went to mainchain ?

13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best stable coin when selling crypto? on: February 28, 2021, 06:57:36 AM

Heard of some synthetic stable coin projects, dont remember the names right now.  One basically worked like an etf or fund.  The concept is a basket of tokens (btc / eth / sushi / tron / usd/jpy / whatever coin) they automatically re-balance daily to create a synthetic stable coin.......it was on the eth network so that is one possible point of failure....

Interested in synthetic and stable coin projects.    jpy usd eur stable coin offerings would be very well subscribed.....
14  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Block chain "cleanliness" analytics on: February 28, 2021, 06:41:36 AM
does anyone know if coinjoin , wasabi, whirpool technology prevent tainted coins from entering mix pool?
Most services actually prohibit CoinJoin transactions as they're pretty easy to detect, whether it's tainted or not. As said before, unless you're able to pay some Bitcoins to a miner for newly mined coins, there probably isn't a way around it to get 100% untainted coins.

Think i heard that before some where, so you are confirming for me - useful and appreciated.  Long time - self mixing may be the best.....thanks again
15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Block chain "cleanliness" analytics on: February 28, 2021, 03:59:15 AM
@ranochigo -  thanks friend....that was the breakdown i needed right now.  See my reply to Darker45 - similar thinking - governments...
16  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Block chain "cleanliness" analytics on: February 28, 2021, 03:52:26 AM
@odolvlobo  - your right it is sad analytics companies only want to make $$ getting people in trouble, not help people stay safe.

@cabron  - just thinking about purchasing from p2p dex or maybe from this forum .  If i buy from a user here and use escrow i could find myself not able to move coins to exchange so avoiding kyc is worthless Sad

@meanwords - thanks , thats a useful link to check for scams.  wish i could find something like exchanges use to judge coins you deposit.

@Darker45  - totally agree - we should not encourage separation of clean v. tainted coins.  no one at grocery cares if cash is tainted same should apply to btc.   Miners dump to otc @ "clean" coin premium,  make more $$.
It is an excuse for exchanges to confiscate coins, they maybe report 10% tainted coins then mix the rest themselves and profit.  Governments love it because it teaches how to confiscate btc "LEGALLY" while btc is busy building the crypto hiway for central bank digital currencies...HEHE  (I just want a similar tool so hodlrs can start to practice as well)

does anyone know if coinjoin , wasabi, whirpool technology prevent tainted coins from entering mix pool?

17  Economy / Exchanges / Re: It seems that KYC will be a must for all CEX users in Future on: February 28, 2021, 01:41:06 AM
@nightflightcourt ,interestingl....will check it out.  is it on ETH or its own separate blockchain, or its own special thing?
18  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Block chain "cleanliness" analytics on: February 28, 2021, 01:20:16 AM
@Jawhead999  i mean a real p2p transaction where we exchange fiat for btc there is no middle man like localbitcoins or hodlhodl to prevent tainted coins from being exchanged......

do peer to peer exchanges check for tainted coins?  thinking yes since they take some of the coins as payment for providing trusted market place.........??
19  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Block chain "cleanliness" analytics on: February 28, 2021, 12:28:18 AM
if you buy btc from another hodlr (forum, meetup, ect) how do you check if coins are clean enough to send to an exchange ?  How to prevent buying coins that can not be used ?  Is there an oracle website bitcoiners can use to "check coins".  Whats is the correct process...does seller provide wallet address coins will come from so it can be checked before transaction ?
