1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Bounties (Altcoins) / Re: [BOUNTY][ICO] HAVVEN — Distributed monetary system and stablecoin on: February 06, 2018, 09:56:45 PM
If I find a problem with your price-stabilizing incentive mechanism, do you have a bounty program for reporting that sort of thing?
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][pre ITO] MIT presale / Musical Instrument Token /1ST SIRIUS SMART CONTRACT on: January 13, 2018, 03:41:18 AM
Does this token do anything? Or is it just for sending from here to there and back again?

You're asking for $350k* for... what? What justifies the creation of all that value?

* 350k = the $250k you raise, plus the additional $100k you'll hold in your 10% founder's stake.

Question: when I run 'getstakinginfo' in the cli, it spits out a bunch of stuff, and in particular it seems like "expectedtime" should be interesting. Is this supposed to represent the expected time before I publish a block? What are the units supposed to be? Seconds?
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Sirius A New Smart Chain Freely Distributed on: January 11, 2018, 12:46:15 AM
I received coins like 24 hours ago. But it states that's my coins are not mature enough to stake. Can anyone tell me how long I need to wait to start staking ??

Unlock your wallet for staking, and you'll automatically start once you've had the coins for 500 confirmations. You're probably almost there.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Underrated Coins (Underlooked Coins, Niche Coins, etc.) on: January 08, 2018, 07:09:46 PM
@biophil:

I haven't heard of that coin, but I'll check it out! Right now, my budget isn't extremely high (just $1000 at the moment), so hopefully I can snag a few and watch it grow. Is there anything specific I need to know about it?

IMO, its main drawback is that it's trying to run a real-world app on Ethereum, so its transaction costs will vary a lot and could be extremely high sometimes.

What will MEVU do that Augur doesn't?

Hi,

I'm new to bitcointalk, but for years on github. Will I be banned for filling both infos in the form? Only now I understand what "senior and above" means.

I filled both and was not banned; they sent me my GitHub stake.

Arcording to my calculations, over 20,000 people have to join for the airdrop to reach the total supply of the coin. How much are you planning to give out? How much is left for staking?

From everything they've said, it seems pretty clear that they're planning to have more distribution rounds after this one as well as a robust bounty system.

What does "left for staking" mean? The POS rewards are inflationary.

From everything they said. I don't think that's a correct use of words. It makes it sound as though it's a constant topic of conversation. From what I gather the distribution will last for the rest of the month, and for lower ranks there would be opportunities, but the air drop is mainly for Sr. Members and above, plus Git Hub developers.

The use of term "total" supply makes me think that 100 million is the max supply. And since every block pays out 5 Sirius, it made me wonder wonder how much will be left for staking.

I believe in the OP it says the current supply is greater than 100M; I assumed that was because the devs have been staking and the extra above 100M is the cumulative (inflationary) block rewards.

10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: if your transaction is stuck in limbo .... on: January 04, 2018, 09:54:13 PM
Nice! I'll have to remember that's an option.

I assume it doesn't help if the stuck transaction came from an exchange, though? Those cheapskates at HitBTC only paid 75 sat/byte for my latest withdrawal, so half a million dollars of their customers' money is now stuck in unconfirmed limbo.
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Underrated Coins (Underlooked Coins, Niche Coins, etc.) on: January 04, 2018, 09:50:39 PM
Are you familiar with Lunyr (LUN token)? Little startup project that's apparently about to move into Beta; they're trying to build an incentivized Wikipedia-type system using Ethereum smart contracts. They have about a $60MM market cap right now. I'm involved in their private Alpha and I've been seeing nice steady development of the platform, which makes me optimistic.

Of course, just like anything, when the air finally comes out of bitcoin, it will probably come out of every cryptocurrency -- so buying anything at the moment should be considered extremely extremely risky. It could all come crashing down at any moment.
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] MemoryCoin | CPU Coin | Paid Dev Team | Limited Supply [MMC] on: January 04, 2018, 09:28:47 PM
at the time this coin was launched years ago i though it had some appealing aspects,  oh well , looks like she died out === rip

Yeah, this was the first coin I ever got involved with, and now it does seem to be pretty completely dead. Delinquency (the last CEO of MMC2) has been active semi-recently on http://mmc-forums.com, but it looks like that forum has been taken over by spammers.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Sirius A New Smart Chain Freely Distributed on: January 04, 2018, 08:51:55 PM
Anybody gotten any yet? Or will the actual distribution occur after January 31st?
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Sirius A New Smart Chain Freely Distributed on: January 04, 2018, 04:46:19 AM
I have filled the form and will support this project. Also waiting for the bounty so we can kickstart the marketing for the token. GoodLuck Team..

Completed the form; hopefully my github activity is enough to be worth something. I don't suppose that Steem reputation or Hero Member status on Bitsharestalk is worth anything here?

Sorry but i dont think bitsharetalk is worth anything here.

As usual. I guess it depends on whether it's more anti-sybil or more specifically targeted to BCT people. But I don't have high hopes for my chances.

Intriguing. Are there some kind of thresholds on the GitHub account's activity levels or something?
17  Economy / Scam Accusations / Fradulent email claiming to be from Coinbase on: April 08, 2015, 06:49:47 PM
This is a pretty obvious scam, but it doesn't look like anybody else has mentioned it yet.

I just received the following email from "news@coinbase.com." I've left the BTC address in because I figured maybe someone would want to sleuth it. But as should be obvious, anybody promising guaranteed "risk-free" 50% growth in 10 days is lying to you.

I've alerted Coinbase and updated my security settings with them. Here's the email:

18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][RPCD] Rand Paul Coin (Deflationary) on: January 17, 2015, 10:27:30 PM

One could actually run one of these out of your home. I do not expect this coin to require VPS's.  Physically secured PCs have advantages over data-center VPS's which can always have private keys stolen by the hardware's owner and admins.

Would we need a static IP address if we're running out of our homes? Or could we accomplish that with some kind of proxy?
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The best 10 top projects Cryptocurrencies for all 2015 on: January 11, 2015, 07:30:40 PM
Clearly, Bitshares is the most interesting one out there.

Hi Gliss; I wanted to point out that you're missing an important trading pair for BitUSD:

https://bter.com/trade/btc_bitusd

People can trade BTC for BitUSD directly there! It has a nice tight spread and its 24-hour volume has been near $1000 several times in the past week. Thanks!
