1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Why Does Every Exchange Need To Have Its Own Token? on: January 31, 2021, 02:56:03 AM
I've only really started learning about crypto and I don't really see the point to all these million different exchange tokens.
Most of them just seem to speculative tokens with no actual function as far as I can see  Roll Eyes
What do you think?
2  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Anyone Else Been Locked Out Their Coinbase Wallet? on: December 29, 2020, 09:05:32 AM
I was able to log in through the phone app versions of Coinbase and Coinbase Pro, transfer all my crypto from Coinbase Pro to Coinbase then swap all of it to fiat and withdraw the fiat. It let me do this on the app for some reason, although it would only alllow me to withdraw fiat not crypto so I had to sell all my crypto first to get the money out, so i will have to buy all my crypto back now on another exchange.

I didn't want to leave it on there any longer waiting for them to sort out my account in case I found this option wouldn't work to allow me to withdraw when I tried again. If anyone reading here still has money stuck on there and hasn't tried using the app you should try this.

This company and this exchange really is a piece of total garbage. They just ignore emails and support tickets, and its basically impossible to get to speak to speak with someone in person from the company. Other exchanges such as Binance I've used have a support service where you can just speak to a live agent online.

Some of my friends have stated their coinbase account were locked and their balance frozen mostly because failing some terms of use. Coinbase has a bit board terms to follow. Many of those blocked accounts were due to transaction to or from gambling sites and a few due to use of VPN.

were your friends able to get their accounts unlocked and get their funds back?

An account been flagged for suspicion is not the reason why the OP account was locked cause this has been happening since the year 2016 when I have the same issue, I was lucky they unlock it after 2years but I have to submit my passport before they do so.
Coinbase is not a good choice for a non-US user.

I was under the impression they were one of the most trustworthy exchanges. From reading online the number of complaints regarding people having a similar experience apparently I was wrong.
They look shady as hell from reading this!

You are not alone, I am also having the issue with my coinbase vault for more than a year now, still there is no sign of accessing my funds. I am also asked to complete verification by customer support even when I did when they told me the same verification required on their earlier response.

@OP move to web wallet section if possible, if you don't know how to do it then no worries I already reported it to.

Have u considered going in person to their office? If you can't get anywhere with customer support then this is an option.
I live in the UK and they seem to have an office in London so I guess I could got there if I can't sort it out through customer support.

It seems ridiculous you'd have to do that but if you live in US then you could go to San Francisco where they are based if you have enough funds locked up to make that worthwhile.
It seems like its virtually impossible to talk to a live agent in the company online or through a phone.

I don't know how to move the topic but maybe an admin can do it.

My Coinbase account has been restricted a few days ago so that I am unable to trade or withdraw.
When I log in it asks me to verify my account with identification. I've done this by my account is still locked, and sent an email support ticket and message on twitter to their support but no response.
I was able to log in and view my portfolio just not withdraw or trade until today but now today I get an error message when I log in so I can't view my account at all.

From searching online I came across this article which shows many people have had the same experience.

https://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/investing/article-9043369/Hundreds-Coinbase-cyptocurrency-customers-lost-access-money-weeks.html

Has anyone else on the forum had an experience like this with Coinbase?
7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Is 2021/2022 going to see a huge boom and crash like 2017 and 2013 on: December 22, 2020, 04:53:46 PM
Do you think we are going to see a huge boom market to something like 200k Bitcoin in 2021 or 2022 followed by a gigantic crash to something like 40k Bitcoin?
I think this is very much possible.
This is what happened in 2013 with boom to $1000 Bitcoin followed by huge crash to $200 Bitcoin, and in 2017 boom to $20000 Bitcoin followed by huge crash to $3000 Bitcoin.
Some people speculate cycles are related to Bitcoin halvening events which happen every 4 years so it would fit the pattern of history if this is what happens.
And once Bitcoin hits ATH many people seem to get FOMO
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Rebase Coins on: December 21, 2020, 01:27:22 PM
I wasn't referring to any particular token bunglor but just Rebase tokens in general.
Theres a list of them here.

https://www.coingecko.com/en?category_id=rebase-tokens&view=market

Base I am quite bullish on as I just think that the idea of it being pegged to the value of the entire crypto market would appeal to many people, and its different from most of the others which are pegged to the value of $1.

Base has marketcap of 5 million only whilst AMPL the biggest rebase coin has a marketcap of 232 million now when it just had a marketcap of around 1-2 million a year ago, so its possible for these coins to give insane gains.

Really its just hyper speculative though.
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Rebase Coins on: December 21, 2020, 12:58:45 PM
Whats your opinion of rebase coins?
I have a feeling they could really boom huge like a fad in a super bull run if we get one like in 2017 in 2021 or 2022.
I suspect many people new to the space, who don't even understand Rebase coins and just see the number of coins in their wallet going up will think they're cool, and FOMO into them.

On the other side of it I actually don't see any real practical use for them, and they don't really seem to do what developers imply they're intended to imo.
They essentially just shift the volatility away from the price of the coin to  the supply, which fluctuates instead, and the value of your holding will simply go up and down according to its marketcap just like any other coin.
10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should We Avoid US Based Exchanges Now? on: December 21, 2020, 09:28:04 AM
I live in the UK. I havn't used a UK exchange before, but I guess if something horrible went wrong you'd have more legal recourse to do something about it if the exchange is based in your own country.

Depositing and cashing out in fiat hasn't been a problem for me as I use this UK based bank app called Revolut which allows you to switch any fiat currency to any another with very small fees.
11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Should We Avoid US Based Exchanges Now? on: December 21, 2020, 08:49:44 AM
In terms of centralized exchanges do you think it would be better to use ones not based in the US now?
I'm thinking of avoiding Kraken and Coinbase completely now and just using ones not based in US such as Binance, Kucoin, Huobi.
Btw I'm not personally a US citizen and the KYC rules and regulation on transactions the US government doing seem like a huge hassle now, so would be good to avoid that.
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Alchemy (ACH) on: December 09, 2020, 08:49:46 AM

and as for Alchemy Pay, the project has a good concept, as an hybrid payment system which give option to users to either pay in fiat or in crypto is something not many project of same category has, i think with time, project will develop even more, good thing about Alchemy pay is it already has a working product which is in used in some countries already.

Thanks. I thought it looked like a good project and I might use it myself if I go travelling.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Alchemy (ACH) on: December 09, 2020, 06:07:49 AM
I chose it because I thought the team looked quite good with the experience quoted, and they look to have a quite impressive array of partnerships.
Also $5 million 24 volume on it so high liquidity.
But really I'm just not qualified to judge, and I guess the space is just completely saturated in 2020.
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Is Alchemy Pay A Good Investment? on: December 09, 2020, 04:20:42 AM
I'm relatively new to the crypto space and have been looking for good low cap coins to invest in, and came across this project.

"Alchemy pioneered an all-in-one hybrid fiat and crypto payments system for businesses which can be deployed in any existing mainstream systems, be it offline (POS, payment terminals, mobile devices etc.), online or in-app to accept payments via fiat mobile wallets, cryptocurrencies and credit cards."

It only has 5 million marketcap, has been in development for a while and I think it looks like a good project from their website https://www.alchemytech.io
So what do you think?
