Dude - please edit that text wall to use the code function. The button on the toolbar looks like #

which should be the PSU output voltage. No idea why it says zero.
Standard questions:
How long was miner running when you grabbed that log?
What is the line voltage feeding the miner? It MUST be between 200-240VAC
What is air temperature of the room  or inlet side of the miner?
Any other miners have similar issues at the same time?

1123  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Sorry but schools are not doing enough People are not educated on: September 08, 2021, 08:48:01 PM
I think going to school is not all about learning a particular course ,but learning people's behavior, how to tolerate one's attitude, being socially acceptable in the eyes of the society and developing good character, is education. One can go to school, and yet remain uneducated because of his characters. The way you behave makes people to access and judge you as an educated person,or an educated illiterate.
Bingo. Problem is, at least in the US, today's society no longer allows schools & teachers to teach and enforce the concept of proper behavior. When students act badly they are almost never punished with more than a stern look and head shaking. People who should be Authority are not allowed to do anything to 'damage' the students 'fragile' view of themselves so they never learn what is right and what is wrong behavior. Given that they are now learning that there are (probably) no real consequences to bad behavior students are now being taught that being a self-centered irresponsible jackass is 'ok'.
1124  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Help Making S19 Quieter on: September 07, 2021, 06:53:51 PM
Have you got inline fans in the ducting or are you only relying on the S19 itself to move the air?

I would buy some 3D printed ducts designed for the S19 which include the PSU aswell (yes they do exist). Then plumb it up front and back direct to those ducts in your box.
As gt mentioned - unless the ducting leading into & out of the box is VERY short you need booster fans as well to overcome airflow resistance through the ducts. The fans on a miner were sized assuming free airflow into/out of the miner. Ductwork of any kind - especially flexible ducts - add a LOT of resistance to the airflow. Considering the fans are rated for 250CFM each and we only need to consider one side (inlet or outlet, take your pick w/2 fans) that means you should have a booster good for at least 500CFM and >750CFM would be better. Probably a small blower is best.
1125  Other / Off-topic / Re: What's your view on cannabis? on: September 07, 2021, 03:29:00 PM
In many countries marijuana, or Cannabis, is considered illegal. Some governments deem its use to be as dangerous as consumption of hard drugs like cocaine and heroin.
But, in some parts of the world it is not illegal and laws are changing all over the world. Many places will experiment with medical marijuana to see if it really does help with certain ailments and diseases.
Cannabis was made illegal in most countries back in the 1920's at the behest of the US government. Before the US began badgering them about it most other countries in the world did not care the slightest about cannabis.

The reasons behind the US government actions are fodder for a different topic (none of them were valid and were mostly driven by racial discrimination and the associated fearmongering). Thankfully after over 100 years of repression, Truth and Reason are finally prevailing and most states in the US now acknowledge and allow its use for medical reasons. Even better, many states took that 1 step further by legalizing it (at a lower potency then medical-grade) for recreational use.

On the medical side, I for one will testify to its effectiveness in reducing neurological pain: Several years ago I had a case of Shingles and am one of the unlucky 1-in-5 people that suffer with permanent nerve damage from it. Medical cannabis alleviates the pain very well. Another well documented case is it's effectiveness in helping those with epilepsy.

Flare gas mining is old news but it never hurts to remind folks about it.

I 1st came across it in 2015 and yes, it makes perfect sense because the simple fact is that flaring incurs huge CO2 emission penalties but the penalties are not assessed just because the gas is being burned - it is because the gas is burned without producing any useful work. If the waste gas is used to power generators, pumps, etc then there is no flaring charges for the gas that is used. In the case of using generators to power miners it's a win-win with no or greatly reduced flaring costs and a nice profit from mining.
1128  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Farm on fire on: September 04, 2021, 09:30:39 PM
It will be cheaper if you do it by yourself, it’s really easy and if you have some electrical questions, just ask.
Bullshit. You are not talking about adding a few low power outlets to a room or opening up and working on a moderately low power (compared to commercial/industrial capacity) household breaker panel.

The knowledge required to properly and above all - SAFELY - do the wiring for 10's to several 100's of kW of power is vastly different. Even more to the point usually mining farms are a business that should carry insurance - that is not going to happen if it has not been wired by licensed professionals.

You are not good as electrician, safety it’s first place for electrician all time and no big difference of 10kW and 100kW, license is not for 10kW or 100kW of power. You can receive license for system up to 1kV(most popular) or for up to 10kV+, but it’s not a kW!
Dude, you should take a look at folks previous posts before making a comment like that.
I have been designing and building industrial power systems since the mid 1970's. I've done power for industrial lasers that pull over 1MW from what amounts to their own mini-substation.

Yes licenses are geared to working voltage but the point that really matters here is what the source can supply to a short-circuit. Just look up 'arc flash hazard' to see the huge difference between DIY wiring in a house where the SCCR *may* be as high as 10kA vs what can can happen when the building service can supply that amount as a normal load. A good example of PPE that is required when working on the high energy areas of building power can be found here. For the vidiots out there here is some very graphic video of what arc flash can do.

Point is wiring power for a large farm is NOT something that is DIY unless you know damn well what you are doing and have experience dealing with that kind of power.

I look at it on the one Bright Side of the situation: For the 1st time in hundreds of years, Afghanistan has a chance to run their own country (almost) anyway the Afghani's want to. For centuries Afghanistan has been called 'The Graveyard of Empires' because of so many other countries trying to either rule it or change it to suit their needs & ideology -- and every single country that has tried all met the same fate. Utter failure.

For most of the world those ideas are a fairly recent thing in Human history. In theory, ja they are a good thing. In practice, when a culture has historically never lived like that it often leads to chaos.

As long as the Taliban realize that they should not and cannot allow terrorists to use their country as a home base, works for me.

Sweeet: BTC is still over $50k, and diff is looking good. Love it!
Now just need KanoPool to finally crack a damn block! I know we're small but it's been 404d 4h 23m since the last one...  Sad

Aside from some bad apples who get their jollies by hunting down rule breakers, the Forum culture is NOT to kill all newbies - it is to educate them.
I'm not sure who you're referring to by the rule-breaker hunters, but I don't think scam busters or those who sniff out plagiarism are bad apples at all.  If we didn't have members looking out for stuff like that, it would be rampant.  It already is rampant, and as far as plagiarism goes (since that's one of the biggest problems and one that will get a member permanently banned), it should be something every member ought to know not to do.
Was not referring to scam busters et al. Ja, they are actually a rather vital group of folks needed here to keep some semblance of sanity in the Forum.  Wink
I was referring to a few folks who I've come across that seem to think it is their mission in life to hunt down newbs and ridicule them vs trying to teach them the errors of their ways.

... and not only are they not interested in technical discussions, they're not even interested in expressing much of anything.  The result is a lot of generic posts that repeat thoughts/ideas, are poorly written, and don't contribute anything to whatever the topic of a thread is.  I'm not sure how much you can educate those kind of members.
Ja. It is a sad reflection of today's culture. Folks today have easy access to technologies that were undreamed of just a few decades ago yet have no interest at all in what led to them nor even the basics of how they actually work...  Cry

Aside from some bad apples who get their jollies by hunting down rule breakers, the Forum culture is NOT to kill all newbies - it is to educate them.

Unfortunately far too often the 1st thing that has to be taught is how to use this forum - or for that matter any forum.

To me it seems that far too many folks think this place is like Facebook, Quora, redit, etc where people post their random thoughts anyplace and anyway they like. I put that to a generational thing where today's generations are so used to having smartphones and texting about everything under the sun that it simply never occurs to them that this place is a TECHNICAL message board and that means there are guidelines on using it. As such they never bother to even look at what the rules are much less take a little time to scan through the forum to see if their question(s) have already been answered.

As my forum name implies I will be among the 1st to point out mistakes they make but follow that with the reason they are a mistake and, what to do about it. I am also very quick to notify mods if a post is in the wrong area (or is utter trash) so it can be moved to where it belongs. For those who refuse to learn and continually violate the Forum Rules then yes, I say ban them.

The other side of the coin applies: I have given many newbies their 1st merit. All it takes is that it be a valid question that has not been asked before and seems to come from an educated individual vs someone who is oblivious to properly learning on their own. My main goal here is to provide useful information where I can. Having been an EE since the mid-1970's I have gained a vast pool of knowledge that ranges from circuit design, power systems design and construction including building infra, computers and at least basic programming, etc. which I share whenever possible.

New here? Well then spend a few days browsing the various sections before posting. Ya just *might* find answers to the initial question(s) you have and even more importantly, along with starting the process of learning and gaining insights into what mining as all about you will probably develop more questions that can be properly targeted..
1134  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What to answer when asked "Can I make money mining bitcoin?" on: September 03, 2021, 03:13:49 PM
The answer to "Can I make money mining Bitcoin?" is a qualified - yes.
IF:
1. Most important, you have access to very low cost electricity
2. You have a place to run the very hot and very loud miners
3. You can find gear without having to wait several month to get

If all 3 are true then no problem.
1135  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: ODROID-XU4 Anybody gotten a wallet to run on it? on: September 02, 2021, 08:37:14 PM
^^ ja, but if you just want a simple networked controller for say, remotely turning on/off contactors or relays to control miner power then 32-bit is more than enough. Same for use with a weather station for monitoring temps, humidity, other sensors, making a clock etc. Gazillions of uses for it most of which work fine even with 8 or 16-bit CPU's.

Yes, but then you come back to the cost. BEYOND the CPU. These things are NOT cheap. They are $45+ And they have a heavy power draw vs other embedded units.
It does run android so doing some things with it are easier then with a regular linux build.
And as said a few posts up, it is an older unit, but even back in 2014 just about every cpu was 64 bit.
So I just don't get it.
Either way, it's on eBay now.

I wouldn't say that, even today there are scads of 32-bit (and lower) CPU's available for the Maker community. Case in point the Arduino which is 32-bit. But ja, they are a lot cheaper. The Arduini Uno from the official site store is only $23 and has a ton of different shields for tinkering.

1137  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: T17 heatsink glue/paste options on: September 02, 2021, 03:31:41 PM
Be aware that the heatsinks on T17's are soldered on - NOT glued. Using solder gives almost 1/2 the thermal resistance that any glue can provide. In short - using glue will result in the chip running much hotter but at least the heatsink will stay in-place. Using paste is right out as it will not hold the heatsink in position and the 'sink will soon fall off.

So that all happened in Madagascar in 1 day eh? Sucks to be there I guess, hopefully tomorrow will go better for them...

Our take is that you need to provide links to the 'news' you are posting about otherwise it is meaningless babbling. Links are needed so folks can get the details and understand the context of what you post.
1139  Other / Politics & Society / Re: How to best set up land property rights post-21st century government? on: September 02, 2021, 03:31:45 AM
Yes but how much longer are we going to be living under the current type of government system? As a thought exercise, how will land property rights be enforced post hyperbitcoinization / US gov collapse?
Take your pick from any of the hundreds if not thousands of sci-fi/fantasy stories written about things along those lines. Hell I have a collection of stories from the 1920's that do a fair job of it. Wanna go pretty far out there, the movie Metropolis is a good place to start. Looking at the societal portions of it, the book Stranger in a Strange Land is another.
1140  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin move to Proof of Stake? on: September 01, 2021, 08:38:33 PM
All attempts to change from PoW to Piece of Shit would break the entire Bitcoin ecosystem. Not only would the Rewards process have to change but so would the millions of miners being used.

In short - it ain't gonna happen!
