1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Man... Bitcoin transactions not processing... the death of Bitcoin? on: July 03, 2011, 04:17:12 AM

Pretty self-explanatory what the issue is, what with it being July 2nd...

Why hasn't it processed? Bitcoin is not going to be a viable client if it cannot process transactions within 24 hours...

Am I doing it wrong, or is the Bitcoin system failing me?
2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: sent 10 btc and its not going through on: June 26, 2011, 12:34:07 AM
i sent 10 btc and its not showing up on block exploer or anywhere.  i shut my computer off right when i sent and then relzied it had to be on.  i finally got  it open and it said it was sent but it had 0 connections.  i left the computer running but it still iswnt showing up on block explorer.  this was a half hour ago.  maybe someone shut off the computer at the house?

I'd recommend you wait for better advice, but mine would be to save your wallet.dat file from your %appdata% (assuming W7), copy it somewhere safe, delete all your Bitcoin files, and then redownload the Bitcoin application. Once re-downloaded, delete the 'new' wallet.dat, put your old one in its place, and then run your wallet. It will take around 24 hours for you to re-download the block chain, so if your transaction isn't showing up on block explorer, you should find yourself with whatever balance you had before sending the BTC.

I'm confused, is your issue:
1. You sent BTC, it deducted it from your balance, and it isn't showing up as sent?

2. You attempted to send BTC, it didn't send it, you re-opened the application and nothing is updating?

Or am I wrong in all my interpretations? Haha.

4  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: My Runescape GP for your Bitcoin on: June 25, 2011, 10:49:33 PM
What is your RSN and how much GP do you have?

I have in excess of 900m and I'm getting more everyday. My username will be given to customers upon securing an order. For security reasons, I won't be saying my username in the open.

Bump.
5  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Governments in a realistic light. on: June 25, 2011, 05:27:00 AM

So basically his statement is incorrect, misleading, and completely worthless.  EVERYTHING is subject to value fluctuations in an open market.  I'd take a currency that doesn't lose value over one that does anyday... but that's irrelevant because that currency doesn't exist and never will.
-Incorrect: Literally, of course. But it isn't meant to be interpreted that way; I certainly can't speak for Atlas but I'm sure he is not saying a Bitcoin does not fluctuate in value.
-Misleading: Perhaps, we all interpret things differently. If someone fails to see the expression for what it is, it could be interpreted literally, meaning his message could be conveyed in a different way than it was intended. That's misleading. Sure.
-Completely worthless: Meh, if it's helped you understand the English language better, perhaps. Unfortunately I fear that is not the case.

8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gox me baby! Where are you? on: June 25, 2011, 03:25:47 AM
ffs, this is what I get for using GOX Communications... internet won't work.

It's okay, I'm smart. Smart like a GOX.

I often-times think outside the GOX.

9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gox me baby! Where are you? on: June 25, 2011, 03:19:34 AM
Fun Fact: MTGox derives from its original acronym usage - "Magic: The Gathering Online Exchange"

How many people just face palmed after they searched it and found out it was true?
10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Official Bitcoin Unicode Character? on: June 25, 2011, 03:05:58 AM
I'm curious, anyone see any objection to using ß as the symbol? I've actually been using that for weeks in private conversations with friends regarding bitcoins... And everyone seems to have no trouble with understanding what I mean when I put in, say, ß2.50, while talking about price or mining and stuff like that.

+1, the beta symbol was the first thing that came to mind for me too. I think it works personally
11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When do you think the first ever murder related to Bitcoins will happen? on: June 25, 2011, 03:02:34 AM
Everytime tards reformat their HD and/or delete their .dat files Bitcoins are senselessly murdered! Geonocide perpetuated by the ignorant unto the innocent!
12  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Governments in a realistic light. on: June 25, 2011, 12:41:12 AM
Why would I want a physical currency whose value that is subject to the whims of a higher power, when I can have sound money that doesn't lose value everyday?

Where can I find this sound money that doesn't lose value?

Funny, but it isn't fair to generalize the context of his statement. He said "that doesn't lose value everyday;" this is an expression, and not to be taken literally. If I interpret him correctly, he is asserting the strength of Bitcoin in its evasion (or rather, structural immunity) to the powers of centralized authority.

It's a cool experiment thusfar. Release a currency at a constant rate in a relatively 'equal' system of distribution, and see how long it takes for inequality to root itself. Bitcoin may not be defined as centralized, but I'm sure we can all agree that it certainly has the potential to be (with large quantities of Bitcoin vested in the hands of the few)
13  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Your ideological evolution. on: June 25, 2011, 12:22:24 AM
Sorry, but I'm not naive enough to think there's any universal system of government or human interaction which will achieve any optimization of overall human morale or happiness. If you start thinking as a fundamentalist you're blinding yourself to reality.

Humans are inclined towards freedom and security. How they choose to implement those elements in government or society changes; I think it's particularly foolish to assert with much conviction that you believe you know the best civil system.

I'm running a Runescape GP for your Bitcoin exchange. Right now I'm valuing RSGP at $0.67 a mil, so if you play Runescape feel free to see my thread in the Currency Exchanges section
15  Economy / Currency exchange / My Runescape GP for your Bitcoin on: June 24, 2011, 11:40:58 AM
Hello there everyone, I hope this is the right place for this.

Here's how I value each:

Bitcoin: Mtgox price and/or BitcoinWatch top market price.

RSGP: $0.67 per million.

For the lazy, simply take the amount of Bitcoin you're willing to spend, multiply it by the current rate, and then divide by 0.65 to see how many million coins I'll trade for your BTC.

Hope something like this is in demand, thanks.
16  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Need help on integrating my Bitcoin wallet safely into TrueCrypt on: June 24, 2011, 10:53:58 AM
Hey there guys, this is probably a really easy question to solve, but how do I successfully integrate my wallet into my encrypted TrueCrypt file?

As I understand it, there's a main Bitcoin folder with all the application files, and then there's other data in the %appdata%. I would normally just copy the Bitcoin file into the mounted TrueCrypt volume file, but that wouldn't encrypt my wallet.dat file, would it? And isn't that what I'm trying to hide from Trojans and other malicious programs?

Thanks in advance guys.

I am an entrepreneur and I'm working on getting BitCoin accepted in ATM machines via a change in their software, once standardized and bug-free it can setup in most machines and will seriously give the community addition strength.  Its a bit long in coming though, and I'm working it through my own machines first.

Sorry to potentially spam this thread but weren't you on TV?
18  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How many bitcoins are you mining each day? (another pissing contest) on: June 24, 2011, 07:41:34 AM
This will make you feel better... I am doing a solo mine (I know I know, I love the lottery, what can I say)... and I have a grand total of:

0.00 BTC

You're doing better than me Wink

I will get on a pool after I upgrade my video card... this is the excuse I am going to use to get it now instead of waiting for a price drop, so please don't rain on my parade.

Exonumia, huh? Do you use CoinTalk? I'm a numismatist myself Smiley

And I've mind 0.00053 on Bitcoinplus, needless to say once I get to the 0.01 payout I'm not using it anymore...
