1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]DEFT First crypto utilizing the balloon hash, new memory hard algo on: June 15, 2018, 11:29:36 PM
Where can i download a binary of the CPUMiner for windows?
I can't seem to build it due to compile errors.

1. on first page of  DEFT anno: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4396753.0 , you can find:

2. it will redirect you to: https://github.com/deftchain/cpuminer-balloon, then you need to click "releases":

3. and you can find what you looking for:

be aware for BeastPoll https://beastpool.com/, you need to add -f65536 if you using official miner, so your command line should looks like :

cpuminer.exe -a balloon -o stratum+tcp://beastpool.com:6533 -u WALLET_ADDR -p c=DEFT -f65536

or if you use miner delivered by BeastPool - then line without -f65536 parameter

Thanks, Mining now Smiley

to bad we can't get Riecoin added to NiceHash, i think that would provide some explosive growth

My AMD 1700x machine crashes every time I start mining.
It generates the the initial prime numbers OK, but then crashes, Sad
CPU never goes above 45 Deg C.
not sure why... Huh

Is there any downloadable torrent or zip for the blockchain?

bchain.info keeps a bootstrap available

https://bchain.info/RIC/bootstrap.dat

Listening nodes can be found at chainz.cryptoid.info

https://chainz.cryptoid.info/ric/#!network

select "node list" next to the node Sub-version

If there appears to be reasonable demand, I will seed another torrent with an updated chain

the bootstrap is really slow even on a fast m.2 drive..
the nodes are slow aswell.

So a torrent would be really nice, tried to download the old on that was on here but theres no seeds.

not that slow, only took me a 10 days to update my wallet from scratch

@Mathiau : how many RIC per day do you get using your 2 Xeons E5-2670 and how much power they draw ? I wonder if it is a good idea to buy a Dell Poweredge R810 server with 4 x Xeon E7-4860for $2000 . Those 4 CPUs have 10 cores/20 threads each so it would be 40cores/80threads in total running @ 2.6-2.8 GHz. Is there a benchmark where i can calculate the potential hashrate and the potential earnings/ day?

I run dual Xeon E5-2651 v2 @1.8 Ghz, 12 Core 24/w hyper threading each, 48 cores total.
I run 2 miners, each one has its affinity set to each CPU, works best that way
I see about 5500 - 7500 KH/s for each miner.

I am thinking of upgrading my cpu's or downgrading, depending on perspective, to dual E5-2690
increase in single core speed @ 2.90GHz but drop down to 8 core...
not sure.

anyways... i don't think it pays me much to mine, I get 9.1 RIC/Day wit all my combined systems (18-30 kH/s), and each RIC is worth what 6¢
spending $2000.. duno if it is worth it.

So i started cpu mining riecoin again just for the heck of it, i have a dual Xeon E5-2670 so 16 threads, 32 cores, I am using xptminer2 from the riecon.ovh site but i only seem to get about 80% usage when using -t 31 (as it does cores + 1.

Is there a better miner to get closer to 100% efficiency?

[EDIT]

Am i able to use

https://github.com/gatra/cpuminer-rminerd

For riecoin?

Try running two instances with -t 15, pinning each to a socket or NUMA node. Pinning the miner to each numa node has worked well for me, especially on dual socket Xeon E5 v3/v4 CPU's.

do you have example config?

i have 2 batch files m1.bat and m2.bat
each runs my miner with 24 cores,
first one affinity is set to the first core, teh second miner affinity is set to the second core.

so my batch file to lauch both miners is
Code:
start /affinity FFFFFF m1.bat
start /affinity FFFFFF000000 m2.bat
note: the affinity is set for a 48 core machine, you will have to adjust it for what ever number of cores you have in your CPUs

So, is it just me or has Riecoin for some reason started going up in Value?

$0.10 a coin...

here is the complete history of Riecoin's exchange rate.

Also I want to mine it. just that just take ./riecoin-qt -gen -genproclimit=1 from its install directory to start mining using 1 processor core? Any help is appreciated.

as for mining, single mining isn't a good solution.
pool mining is good.
I am using ublock.it , http://ublock.it
works well, owner of the pool is cool.

Hi. I am having trouble running the client/wallet. It never connects to any networks. Says no Riecoin networks. Also I want to mine it. just that just take ./riecoin-qt -gen -genproclimit=1 from its install directory to start mining using 1 processor core? Any help is appreciated.

his instructions 4 pages back... to me

locate your wallet folder and edit ( or create if it doesnt have one ) the riecoin.conf file ...

add these nodes to it at the end of the .conf - and it should pick up one or two of them ...

Code:
addnode=173.51.33.72
addnode=192.95.24.114
addnode=198.251.84.199
addnode=218.45.179.204
addnode=45.76.139.92
addnode=5.9.39.9
addnode=51.255.207.142
addnode=79.137.74.43

that should help ...

no community / riecoin owned seednodes are working - so the seednodes cannot be hardcoded in the wallet for an easy and immediate sync ...

try it - and see what happens ...

@MadHacker I'm not into pool mining I really prefer solo mining but with that being said thanks for your input and if you mined 34.2 RIC in 4 days that is interesting and I'm curious could you share with me your hardware specs? Are you cpu mining and what processor are you using?

Thanks a bunch!

I'm just CPU mining/ there isn't GPU mining for this.
I'm running a Xeon 5650 6 Core/12 thread @2968Mhz
using 11 threads.

This coin jumped on my radar and I am going to buy some and sit on it and see what it does. So as you can imagine my step one was to go ahead and download the wallet aka Riecoin Core version v0.10.2.0-gf192dab-beta (64-bit). Just out of curiosity I thought I would fire it up to mine...

I simply opened the console and changed setgenerate to true and then checked things with getmining info and for sure it's mining up a storm.

I haven't mined a block yet and not sure if I will who knows but I would ask the forum members is there anything else I need to do besides change the setgenerate to true?

Thanks for the advice!

I joined a pool, http://ublock.it
and i made 34.2 RIC in 4 days.

You need to create the riecoin.conf file yourself. Or you can use the console that can be found under the help > debug window and enter the following.

Code:
addnode "172.94.61.249" "onetry"

had a brain dead moment...
got it now updating thanks.

thanks for the help,

so i looked in
C:\Users\<_me_>\AppData\Roaming\Riecoin
found the wallet.dat, however I could not find any riecoin.conf

OS: windows 10 64bit

3 Year(s) and 15 week(s) behind.
looking at renounce monitor there it isn't even network connection.

So i order 3 5830s (Gigabyte) and received them today. When i opened them all i can say is WOW. The packaging is pristine. looks like they were shipped by newegg. Also MadHacker even called me to let me know when he was shipping them, which was that night btw. All i can say is pure professionalism with the sale.

thanks... I keep all original packaging in perfect shape..
i always get disapointed with my boys when they rip open a box...
I'm just weird that way.
