https://www.bitrawr.com/difficulty-estimator

Thank you for detailed information @ wavelengthsf and kano

Anyone who was mining on the pool with an apollo, it's blocked from mining PPLNS - only allowed mining Solo.
As mentioned in their thread, they've not bothered to do proper block level testing, so they're relegated to Solo for now.

[…]

User „wavelengthsf“ said he found a block on the testnet. Isn‘t this enought to confirm that the Apollo can find a block?

„Mastering Bitcoin“ is another book which looks very interesting:

What are the odds that he will find any information related to keeping a miner? absolutely ZERO.

As kano said, these information of specific gear you will find in the forum, sorted by each type of gear. The book above is more about how the principals of minig work, to get a better understanding of what the gear is doing related to the bitcoin network.

If a miner finds a block, there is a block reward of actual 6,25 „new“ bitcoin plus the amount of transaction fees of valid transactions included in the block. Mining is not only acquiring new bitcoin. There will always be transaction fees and there will always be mining to manage transactions. Even if the reward of new bitcoin will be gone at some point the block reward will always contain the transaction fees.

You are totally right about that what probably was in Satoshis mind. At least it is the way i think about it at its current state given the actual block size / transactions per second.

In my opinion it is very unlikely that we will ever have a global digital cash completely unregulated from major governments. I think it is more likely we could see a substantially transparent financial system build on bitcoin rather than „only“ bitcoin itself.

But we will see where bitcoin is heading. Core updates can and most likely will be implemented in the future which could drive BTC in any direction.

I think you should see bitcoin as something like digital gold where the value of things should be measured with, not as a form of cash for daily payments at the supermarket. It is not designed for a purpose like this.

Thanks for the links. The interesting part continues with „testing the miner results when finding blocks“. Will look up more about that before asking around.

@kano: thanks for clarify. Im not a programmer but the direction is clear Smiley

Thanks for the quick reply. Much respect for your content by the way. Just scratching the surface…

… the large numbers in terms of what? Mini-miners/-worker pointed to the pool? Submitted „mini-shares“? Or the total network difficulty itself?
54  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Lottery Mining on: June 26, 2021, 01:24:50 PM
Is it even possible to lotto mine BTC on something like a newpac USB miner?  Just doing some rough math, it looks like it's more likely the Sun will explode before it finds a block.  So if not BTC, what other SHA-256 (that the newpac would be able to mine) would be worth lotto mining?

Hello guys! First of all i’m new here just reading some of your interesting discussions and trying to learn a bit more about bitcoin mining…

So i’m asking, even if it may be possible to theoretically solve a block with some small miner like a newpac usb, is small gear like that capable of solving a block in technical terms? As far as i understand you need to get an accepted share having a difficulty higher than the network difficulty to succsesfully solve a block. Is small gear like a newpac with approximately 100 gh/s capable of getting a valid share with that kind of difficulty? Does it have enough „power“ even it is very very unlikely?
