Quote
[11:18] <VinceSamios> Ukyo is this big announcement the one by cyptocyprus?
[11:18] <VinceSamios> Because it doesn't actually say anything...
[11:21] <Spekko> that was such a joke of a post i couldnt believe it was posted -.-
[11:23] <nsa_> It is not the big annoucement, just AN announcement
[11:24] <Spekko> ukyo stole. period. if not weex deposits would have been stopped once he knew there was a problem, but it wasnt
[11:24] <Spekko> thats all the information needed basically
[11:27] <nsa_> pretty sure its a legal issue

[11:59] <krone> weex transactions still won't make it to the block chain
[11:59] <krone> coins are still vanishing last time i checked

[12:45] <VinceSamios> }bc,stats
[12:45] <VinceSamios> woops, wrong one

[13:09] <@Ukyo> Spekko: I did not touch users funds.
[13:10] <jeffz> are aud withdrawls being processed?
[13:11] <Spekko> i certainly hope not, but could you give a valid reason why you still allow btc deposits to weex? I deposited 0.06BTC just so I could withdraw the little i had in there and lost that aswell
[13:11] <blastbob> Ukyo: But did someone else?
[13:11] <@Ukyo> Spekko: it was disabled
[13:11] <@Ukyo> goto deposit page
[13:11] <@Ukyo> and hit ctrl-f5
[13:12] <@Ukyo> I cant stop the blockchain
[13:12] <@Ukyo> anything someone sends will have to be credited to users.
[13:12] <Spekko> cant access the site from work network, but when I needed to withdraw I deposited a small amount knowing nothing about the issues
[13:15] <blastbob> Ukyo: Can you confirm that all the users funds are available, but you are not allowed to touch it due "legal" reasons? simple yes/no
[13:16] <Spekko> it makes sense that anything someone sends must be credited. But knowing that the system is in a flawed state why keep the deposit option open for such a long period of time
[13:18] <Spekko> issues like this along with the fact that you "cannot" release information regarding the problems is causing more and more speculation in the community.

[13:22] <@Ukyo> Spekko: there are multiple issues involved here and as to timing is another issue altogether
[13:22] <@Ukyo> that is that.

[13:24] <Spekko> unfortunately, no matter the situation, when a group of people is owed over 1million USD, that is not enough. people need some valid reason for this no matter how small a shed of light is needed. all we getting is promises of updates happening at unknown times. a small shed of info can do a great deal of good at this time
[13:24] <@Ukyo> I wish I could tell you everything.
[13:24] <@Ukyo> unfortunately is some situations, you simlpy cannoy.
[13:24] <@Ukyo> simply*
[13:25] <@Ukyo> And with that, I am going back to bed. Just woke to fix a problem.
[13:25] <Spekko> well is there atleast an answer to why you did not immediately stop deposits when you found out about the issues?
[13:26] <@Ukyo> Please understand that this has been a very difficult situation to work through.
[13:26] <@Ukyo> As Danny wrote, if the intent was to "scam" people, I would have just said "sorry" and left.
[13:26] <@Ukyo> That was never the point.
[13:27] <Spekko> my question is so simple :/
[13:27] <blastbob> If money is gone, the result is the same
[13:27] <@Ukyo> I am here because I do not want people "scammed" and trying to get things corrected.
[13:27] <@Ukyo> blastbob: if the funds are unavailable, the result is the same except that I am here and putting a plan in place to correct for it.
[13:27] <Spekko> you allowed for more deposits to go through to weex knowing it had problems
[13:28] <jeffz> I appreciate your hard work Ukyo and I'm sure the other silent ones do too.
[13:28] <@Ukyo> blastbob: unless you prefer I not.
[13:28] <Spekko> weeks after the issues deposits to weex was still possible
[13:28] <@Ukyo> Spekko: different issues make for different responses.
[13:29] <@Ukyo> jeffz: Thanks. I have pretty much been working around the clock to get things ready so that things will be corrected asap.
[13:29] <Spekko> but I am speaking about one specific issue, why not stop the deposits as soon as you knew to prevent even more hurt
[13:29] <blastbob> Ukyo: if i have to wait 3 years through "feeshares" on some neobee project, i am not sure what i want. I had some crappy nights already
[13:29] <blastbob> Like you have i guess Smiley
[13:30] <@Ukyo> Spekko: you can ask as many times as you want, however it will not change the current answer that can be provided.
[13:31] <@Ukyo> I would like to tell you.
[13:32] <@Ukyo> blastbob: and speaking of that, I managed a full 2 hours of sleep before having to help a user so I am going to try to get some actual sleep again.
[13:32] <@Ukyo> night, afk.
[13:33] <Spekko> eish

[13:33] <@Ukyo> Spekko: sorry, i really want to say more.
[13:33] <@Ukyo> If I could, I would.
[13:34] <@Ukyo> All I can ask is that you please try to be patient. I know it is asking a lot given the circumstances
[13:34] <@Ukyo> but we are trying our best to make sure this has a positive outcome and not leaving everyone completely ot of pocket.
[13:34] <@Ukyo> The situation is what it is and we are trying to make the best of it moving forward.
[13:35] <Spekko> I have no worries as I have not lost much. But some people got hit hard, and the lack of info is making it worse on them
[13:35] <@Ukyo> I agree 100%
[13:35] <nsa_> 100+ here.. being patient Smiley
[13:36] <Spekko> and my question doesnt deal with the current state of the problem. Its that you as another human, noticed the problems, and continued to allow the depositing of external btc for quite a period to weex
[13:36] <@Ukyo> The fact of the matter is what can be done and said, is being done and said. This is far better than nothing at all and just saying "Sorry guys, there is nothing more. Get out the pitch forks." Certinly people are still free to get out the pitchforks, but it wont do anything but hinder the ability to correct the issue.
[13:37] <@Ukyo> Spekko: I have been doing everything I can to put a stop to additional btc going into the system as soon as I can.
[13:38] <@Ukyo> I even have an email to FriedCat telling him not to send AM PT divs, and he did it anyways.
[13:38] <blastbob> Should we except 100% return, or prepare for less?
[13:38] <nsa_> You are still waiting for "something", right? Go get some sleep
[13:38] <@Ukyo> blastbob: I won't settle for anything less than 100%
[13:38] <blastbob> see..
[13:38] <blastbob> now i can sleep for a few more hours
[13:39] <@Ukyo> in fact, if I have a say in it, I think more is deserved.
[13:39] <@Ukyo> but thats another point for another discussion when more information is known.

ALL i wanted to know is why he didnt stop users from depositing extra BTC for several weeks after he learnt about the problems
2  Economy / Securities / Re: [BitFunder] Moving Forward/Resolution Process on: November 27, 2013, 10:03:56 AM

This is very informative, I still trust Ukyo. Also Iwill keep on using weex since I got verified on it.

in what way is this informative :/, what information did you gather from this. please share, Ive read every line in that link
3  Economy / Securities / Re: [BitFunder] Moving Forward/Resolution Process on: November 27, 2013, 09:20:50 AM

You can have my word that everything conceivably possible, to resolve these problems are being done to the best of our abilities.

no sir... how can you expect people to have your word when still no information regarding the problems are given to the people thats owed over a MILLION USD....................
4  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: The WeExchange 2nd Stage Scam! Currently ~$1,000,000 (Check the NEWS) on: November 27, 2013, 09:15:38 AM
I don't understand why Ukyo knowing there are problems with weex still happily was receiving funds there.
He did not give a warning to not send funds to weex. That is bad sign.

Another thing is private data collection. He shutdown the exchange, but prior to that weex collected impressive amount of personal data of non-US citizens.

So we have these puzzles:
- withholding withdraws
- collecting personal data
- taking more money in
- outsourcing the problem to neobee
- mystery promise of big weex being transformed to something extraordinary

Maybe this is just drama-show to attract more attention to NeoBee ?!
In early days Polish exchange BitChange was hacked and MtGox stepped in to reimburse all missing coins.
Everybody where happy and mtgox gained broad attention and credibility.

this exactly!.

I sent in 0.06 btc to weex so that I could withdraw the little I have. If he knew the problems he was having why the hell allow MORE funds to be added and get lost (i know, to pour some gravy into them pockets) and why not put a message on the site that withdraws are broken.
Im sorry but i dont see any funds comming back from this :/, this is just sad.
keeping people in the dark after every LITTLE bit of contact we get regarding the situation just makes things even worse.

dealing with MILLIONS one would have atlease expected proper communication regarding the issues. these people are just BAD, all i can say to describe them.

10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin will route around damaged parts of the system. on: June 07, 2013, 06:43:03 AM
The biggest takeaway I got from the San Jose conference and the events that have followed is that Bitcoin's center of gravity needs to move outside the US and Europe as rapidly as humanly possible.

I want to see the Bitcoin network become a heterogeneous system, built from many independent implementations created by programming teams in China, Russia, Latin America, India and Africa, in addition to the reference implementation to protect it from malicious changes implemented by a small group of coerced developers. I want to see Bitcoin economic activity in the BRIC nations reach par and then exceed activity in North America and Europe so that the currency is no longer in danger of being attacked by any single government, or group of governments who could plausibly be expected to work together.

The doorstep of the financial rulers of the world might not be the best place to build and promote a disruptive technology to replace them.

this is fast happening Smiley, i am from south africa, we have a nice exchange to convert btc to fiat, bitx.co.za its even worth slightly more cuz our currency is currently being run to shit by our stupid ass government. was even able to buy a gpu recently for btc from someone in south africa Smiley.
11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 51% Attack with pools? on: June 06, 2013, 01:52:00 PM
i dont see any way how a pool can cause the attack?, dont understand the question, but im sure if at all possible it will involve miners not getting payed out, and when that happens miners leave and pool loses hashrate
12  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: New Miner, should I go ASIC on: June 05, 2013, 09:36:44 AM
Lovely rant, and the ad hom's were priceless. Can I be your friend, youll be handy in tough places Cheesy

But seriously, I was rather hoping someone would call me out on my math to see where I may have gone wrong. I especially liked OnkelPaul's calculator as is showed I was actually overestimating the ROI (it conformed my existing bias, so cool by me).

To the point, I agree that nethash prediction is the key. And this was the point I was making, that your ROI must take into account changes in difficulty, which are insanely difficult to predict. The 26% per fortnight that I quoted was actually a back-prediction from the 250BTC price to indicate the maximum rate of difficulty increase that would give a positive ROI. It was actually meant as an illustration of the sort of math you'd need to do to justify that investment (and incidentally was wildly over-optimistic as Paul's calculator shows).

I won't concede your point on inflation (or deflation as is the desired outcome for BTC). Here's why. Mining is like a cookie jar. On day one you buy a magic cookie jar. It cost you 100 cookies in the first place (or you may have got your mom to buy it for you using her dollar credit/debit card), but its worth it because its magic. But you can only take out a few cookies cookies every day (that's mining for you). The first day you get to take 16 cookies, yum. But the second day you can only take 8, and on the third you get 4 cookies. Now how many cookies will you eat before you die of old age (allowing fractions of course)? Did you get your 100 cookies back? That's the nub of the difficulty increase argument.

Now your point is that those cookies are rare, rare treats that nobody can bake any more, the recipe is lost. After a few years they are so valuable that you can command almost any price. Luckily your magic cookie jar is still churning out a few crumbs of dust every day, so you're rich. But you'd be so, so much richer if you'd never bought that damn jar in the first place and just kept your 100 cookies in a nice safe cupboard.

Of course if your magic cookie jar had let you take only eight cookies per day, but halved it every week rather than every day, you'd be in profit, but only just. So can you predict what your jar will allow you to take before handing over your cookies?

That was fun, can we do it again?  Grin

haha best post ever...

i must agree with J35st3r tho, a machine now for 250btc will probably not make an ROI in YEARS, seeing as more and more asics comming in,, asicminer growing + 100TH mine possibly comming into play soon.. and when 100TH comes in it will be battles between more and more hashrates of ~100TH comming in to play everytime, ,

just my opionion though, but OP seems to be badass at predicting the future,,, if i had 250btc i would sell half or a quarter at whatever peak i see in the next few months and put the rest in a safe

mining success on 5970 + 5870 on fresh install with drivers 11.2

anyone know of a good working driver package for a 7 series + 5 series?,, 13.2 was perfect for weeks, but dont want same problems
17  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: help: 5970 - Verification failed, check hardware! on: May 18, 2013, 08:56:16 PM
^ have tried multiple miners, most just hang, only guiminer lets me see that error in console.

I have now removed all cards except the 5870, and installed catalyst 11.11 drivers and now everything i launch crashes with details APPCRASH

edit: about to format once again and load 11.2 running only 5870 and work from there
18  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: help: 5970 - Verification failed, check hardware! on: May 18, 2013, 08:42:50 PM
just plugged 5870 back in with 7970 and 5870 giving same problem. bit of a reilief, better chance of the problem not being the 5970
19  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: help: 5970 - Verification failed, check hardware! on: May 18, 2013, 08:21:11 PM
does 5970 work fine by iteself?
yes,

just ran more tests,, been gaming on the 5970 fine,, also ran clbench on each of the 5970 cores and returned good results compared to online comparison. just noticed 1 spot artifact appear after clbench on first core , but it dissapeard shortly after
20  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / help: 5970 - Verification failed, check hardware! on: May 18, 2013, 06:46:38 PM
Hi all, really hoping someone can help me with this issue.

Yesterday I got and started mining with a 5970,, was mining really well and had zero issues at all. Along with the 5970 im mining with a 7970 on same board and using my onboard intel chip for my display.

been mining with 7970 + 5870 with this setup for weeks with zero issues. I replaced the 5870 with 5970 and everything was smooth. Last night my power tripped while mining, and when i turned on my 5970 caused everything to fail. I couldnt even see the temp of the one core. eventually I the card is now working, on a fresh windows install, it seems to game fine and i see usage and temps on both cores.

My 7970 stills mine fine, but when i try to mine in guiminer with 5970 i see the hashes and hear the card spin up and see 99% usage on both cores but i get this error:

2013-05-18 18:02:33: Listener for "5970": stratum.ozco.in:3333 18/05/2013 18:02:33, Verification failed, check hardware! (0:1:Cypress, ac940ad4)
2013-05-18 18:14:12: Listener for "5970-1": stratum.ozco.in:3333 18/05/2013 18:14:12, Verification failed, check hardware! (0:2:Cypress, 1fc051fd)

for each share it tries to submit, cards fan spins up as usual but none of my shares are getting accepted :/, worked perfectly before. Even on fresh install of windows + drivers.
