4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Quantum computing resistant coins? on: October 31, 2016, 03:41:08 PM
Quantum computing has nothing to do with 'breaking' SHA-256. In our current understanding of quantum computing, the only danger it presents is to the elliptic curve cryptography used in signing transactions. So in an universe where quantum computers actually exist, one 'could' get a private key from a signed transaction. Even without changing anything, if you don't reuse private keys, you are probably safe.

6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: #TogetherWeAreETH on: July 18, 2016, 07:41:24 PM
Pre- and post-fork I encourage all members of the Ethereum community to use the hashtag #TogetherWeAreETH in their social media tweets, posts, messages, emails, texts, and blogs to show their support for ETH. Stronger together we will not let a lone wolf attacker break our resilience and belief.

#TogetherWeAreETH

There's a cult-like feel to this post, and about ETH in general.
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: No fee, no miners, (almost) instant tx coin: Democracy BCO has started! on: July 12, 2016, 07:18:29 PM
I announce the end of Democracy coin.

I know that there are about 10 days left to the end of BCO but till now I collected only 0.5BTC from one investor and saw nothing for days.

I'm not motivated to continue this project. Hope you understand.

In my point of view projects go well if start well, this one hasn't started well so I'm leaving.

The investor will be refunded, I'll alert the escrow.

Glad Satoshi didn't have this attitude regarding bitcoin. Keep in mind a lot of ICOs are typically scummy. The 'millions of dollars' you see are fluffed by the people behind the project to stimulate interest...

Giving up so easily belittles the idea behind the project itself... Could have been a great idea.  Oh well.

9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I just mortgaged my house to buy ethereum(Back in baby!) on: June 17, 2016, 07:24:43 PM
I just got sick. The Eth/Dao hack just made me puke. I mean WTF, as if crypto investing isn't hard enough now there are Hackers.

Hacker, GIVE BACK the MONEY!  You are wrecking my life!

Bean

master level trolling.
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETH - Hardforked - NOT Decentralized on: June 17, 2016, 03:19:24 PM
The ETH developers can propose all the hardforks they want. It's still ultimately the miners and users who decide whether to comply or not. It's exactly how a decentralized system works.
11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: why cant people spend other's money on: June 01, 2016, 07:44:29 PM
I am quite new to bitcoin, still reading the guide, and being puzzled about this. For example, if somebody just create one million private keys and run one million wallet programs at the same time, he would much likely receive some output that paid to one or more private keys (addresses maybe) he generated, and thus steals others' money
Could this be a problem?

Why run a million wallets when all the possible private keys to all the possible bitcoin addresses are "stored" here:
    http://www.directory.io/?

Go ahead, flip through it, if you find my address you can have all my coins Wink.
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum’s $150-Million Blockchain-Powered Fund - Researchers Call For a Halt on: May 30, 2016, 08:46:53 PM
Excellent article. I had general issues with the concept of crowd governance,  I was not even aware of the voting rules that went along with this "grand experiment". Simply insane. As said before, this system makes it too easy for a single actor, or cabal of actors, to subvert the group will to their own wishes. I have a feeling this DAO thing is going to go south quickly in the future, and the entire would will be watching.

Well that's kind of how actual companies work. A small group of people make the decisions for all the stakeholders even if a minority of stakeholders disagree with the motion. I cant buy 100$ worth of Apple stock and expect to have my opinions influence the direction of the company in any meaningful way. The problem I see here is that actual companies have very qualified individuals calling the shots, whereas the DAO you just have anonymous actors, most of which are lucky ETH IPO investors and probably know close to nothing about running a company.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Lisk<< Have You made Profit from it? on: May 25, 2016, 04:37:23 PM
No one who actually invested during the ICO is at a loss. Even selling at the bottom of the dump on Poloniex still doubles your initial investment...

The only way to lose money is to buy it immediately as it hit the exchange, which I can't fathom why anyone in their right mind would do that seeing as how the price was way to high from the ICO (10x or more). That amplified by the fact that most people couldn't sell their coins at launch because of ddos and wallet trouble which further inflates the price.
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LSK] Lisk | Blockchain Application Platform for JavaScript Developers on: May 24, 2016, 10:37:06 PM
Running well in my VPS, although I had to tweak the installLisk.sh script to bypass a couple issues. Probably related to the downloads server being hammered.

Yes, it can't pull the version because of the DDOS. Glad that it's working for you.

Why is the Docker image down then? Has nothing to do with ddos.
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LSK] Lisk | Blockchain Application Platform for JavaScript Developers on: May 24, 2016, 10:32:58 PM
its not just the website down, there install instructions are not correct, and they have no docker image available,

this to me seems like it was all done delibrate

It's pretty obvious.
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LSK] Lisk | Blockchain Application Platform for JavaScript Developers on: May 24, 2016, 10:28:54 PM
This is looking suspicious... none of the installers work... the mainnet docker image is not online (even though Poloniex seems to have a working wallet)... the online wallet is conveniently ddosed with a disabled send button.

It appears a select few and Poloniex have access to their coins with fully OK wallets. I think the plan is here that insiders and buds get to dump their 10x ICO coins on buyers thinking its fair price, when in fact most of the coins are not able to be sold.

17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What will be ethereum price in 2 years from now ? on: April 20, 2016, 03:04:25 PM
less than $3
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: LISK price speculation on: March 21, 2016, 06:28:59 PM
That means that any companies wanting to integrate dapps now can do so with just your run of the mill Javascript programmer. Quite a cost savings.

What makes a dapp superior to an app in the context of a single company?
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETH DUMP IS ON HOLY SHIT on: March 17, 2016, 02:43:51 PM
Time to buy ETH   Wink

The amount of delusion in these forums is itself at an ATH.
