161  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: which motherboard is most stable for 5 or 6 video card? on: August 31, 2011, 03:05:56 PM
I figured this problem out the other day. My problem was that every so often the drivers for the last card (slot furthest from the cpu) would crash. Try going into the bios on the advanced menu. I cant remember the name of the option but you probably have 64 as what its using. Switch this to 96 and you shouldn't have any problems. Basicly what I took from the explanation on google was 64/16=4 so 96/16=6.
162  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Motherboard MSI 890FXA-GD70 wont boot with 5 GPU's on: August 31, 2011, 03:03:08 PM
I was having a similar problem as you. I own the same board with 5 5850's. It's not exactly the same as your issue but I had trouble reliably using 5 cards. Each card and component worked individually just not all together. I went into the bios and went to advanced and there should be a option that has 64 as your choice boost it to 96 and that might help you. I don't remember the name of the option but from what I remember is 64/16=4 16 being x16. This fixed my problem and it might fix yours.

If you cant find this option I guess I can reboot my machine to look for it but I prefer not to.
163  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: HD5970 new in stock newegg 499$ ! on: August 31, 2011, 02:54:05 PM
With so many people buying this card, hopefully someone can post some stable config for win7 running guiminer.

I'm getting 409-410 MH/s per core @ 910 on a PCI-E 2.1 x1 extender/adapter. Phoenix 1.50/Win7 64.  AMD driver v11.5, Memory @ 300MHz, 1.112v, 3% phatk mod. 73C/88C with a tabletop fan blowing on it.  Also running two 5870s @ 450-460 MH/s on the same mobo.

AGGRESSION=12 WORKSIZE=256 BFI_INT VECTORS -k phatk

Just got mine set up. I'm getting 377-378 Mhash per core using guiminer 2011-07-01 with poclbm on Windows7 64bit, flags -v -w128. I could not get it to OC past 850. In an open case my temps are an off the hook 90c+. I also could not get the memory to down clock that far without crashing. How did you do it? I tried Rivatuner and MSI Afterburner.
Trixx tends to be more reliable. I have no clue why but I have had problems going below 500 mhz and with trixx that problem does not exists.

ROIs have converted from months to years with the edge too close, especially with exchange rates so volatile and testing new lows.
This isn't true roi is still in the months category. I'll use my 5850 machine for example. Its a rig with 5 5850's and cost me 1,375 to build. It can generate 1,900 megahash and requires 1kw.

That generates me 1.0750 btc a day which is 290 a month. At 8.5 cents per kwh (cost for me) it costs 61 per month. Which gives me a profit of 229.

Thats 6 months and lets be honest in 6 months the price could easily go up. If you save your coins and wait and at any point it reaches 20 dollars a coin you will have roi in 2.3 months. Keep in mind it only has to hit this once for you to drastically cut your roi.

So like I said roi's don't take years to recover.
165  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: 5830's in stock for real this time (Sold Out) on: August 31, 2011, 05:17:45 AM
Ah, I didn't even check the dates.  I was just curious why you didn't edit the title but you edited the main post.  Figured it was for the best to edit the title to not have the wrong info.
To be honest I just didn't think of it lol.
166  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: 5830's in stock for real this time (Sold Out) on: August 31, 2011, 05:07:04 AM
@OP Why do you edit your post to say sold out, but not the title?

I changed it so people won't be getting their hopes up for no reason.
The thread died almost a week ago until some one brought it back up so I assumed I didn't need to. Also is this a new rule? I've never heard this requirement before.
167  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTS] Two AMD 5970 Reference on: August 31, 2011, 01:16:20 AM
I know its kinda funny. I know not everybody is going to like it. But like I said newegg doesnt take BTC. If you dont have a CC/paypal or would rather spend BTC instead of cash, I have them.

Im not gonna stop mining. I will run these till the very moment I sell them. Im just trying to make a quick buck. If I sell them I will buy more.

http://bitegg.net/

That site has been around for quite awhile Wink You have no argument for selling them at 700 currently.
168  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTS] Two AMD 5970 Reference on: August 30, 2011, 10:32:46 PM
They will sell out eventually. Besides, newegg doesnt accept BTC - I DO
I agree they will go out of stock eventualy hence why I stated I bought one and I'm waiting. As for the newegg bit there are trusted websites that convert bitcoins into newegg gift cards so that cuts your 200 dollar profit.

Just remove this for now and wait till its oos like I am. Your only going to get laughed at for trying to sell it early.
169  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTS] Two AMD 5970 Reference on: August 30, 2011, 10:27:57 PM
You're supposed to wait till they're out of stock to scalp them.
Yea I laughed at this as well. I bought one and I'm just waiting for them to go out of stock.
170  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Difficulty Decrease! on: August 30, 2011, 09:02:52 PM
However the stats says that the difficulty will increase by 12% in 11 days.  Sad

Let's enjoy these few days to mine hard  Wink
Every time this needs to be explained...

The estimate at the beginning of a new difficulty is not accurate. It takes several days for even a relatively close estimate to come out.
171  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Some one got an amazing deal on a 6970 on: August 30, 2011, 04:57:55 PM
It looks like some one only paid $158 for a 6970  Shocked

Just pointing out that you need to keep your eyes open. That's a ratio of 2.78 Tongue
172  Economy / Goods / Re: WTS - 2 Sapphire 6990 - $825 each - Pictures & Video on: August 30, 2011, 03:44:04 PM
Wow these seem overpriced...

$825 not including shipping? Huh
I wouldn't say these are over priced. If these were common cards I'd agree with you but these are cards that pop up in tiny spurts once a month. This is a normal price for this card on ebay.
173  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: MULTIPLE RIGS on: August 30, 2011, 03:31:25 PM
If your using windows 7 cant you just use windows built in remote desktop?
174  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Interesting milestone on: August 30, 2011, 03:27:54 PM
just wait til it gets  on into fall/winter people in the northern hemisphere will be willing to mine at lower prices when the heat generated is a positive not a negative and we should see mining speeds go back up again.

7.50 is my "not worth the hassle" price when the miners get shut off.

I'm from the northeast and I agree with you. Once it gets cold enough that my window can be my ac if needed. I will consider adding another machine.
175  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Cannot get 5830 above ~225 mhash/sec on: August 30, 2011, 03:06:46 AM
And everything seems to be running smoothly. If i try to go over 880 it doesnt like to do much else...and this is my main computer, not a rig.

Yea if you need to use this rig don't expect over 300 megahash.
176  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: what is the best rig design, today, for the most mh/s per dollar? on: August 30, 2011, 03:00:30 AM
Turns out I have an amazing memory lol

It's no promise of 3MH /$1 per single rig, but per card it is.
Is it even possible to get over 2MH/$1 per rig? I've done a lot of theoretical builds and if you want any realistic build it usually tops out around 1.5 megahash per dollar.

mine is in the mail already, it was like 145 and 15 bucks shipping
The 5 I got come Wednesday Cheesy

yes it is although it might not be possible building from new. I purchased an old tower on CL for 45 and 2x5770 for 150 it's running at 440mh/s for the past few days so i've managed 2.25mh/$
177  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: what is the best rig design, today, for the most mh/s per dollar? on: August 30, 2011, 02:54:33 AM
i think this is pretty much the best:

6x 5830 (6x $130)
MSI 890fxa-gd70 ($180)
sempron 140 ($40)
2gb memory ($20)
flash drive/HD ($10)
2x 700w PSU (2x $70)
6x pci-e risers (6x $15)

total: ~$1260

with each card at around 300mh/s, you'll get 1.43mhs/dollar. this is with brand new parts, but it really depends on your overclocks and if you can get deals on the parts.
For this to be a realistic build you would need to include some sort of case set up. I couldn't imagine any one being able to build a case for less then 30-40 bucks. Also with two psu's wouldn't you need a dual psu 24-Pin Adapter Cable? That adds a total of 66 dollars between the two items.

In an open case set up you can easily get about 325 from each card with low temps.
The total in this case would be 1,326 and gives you a megahash per dollar of 1.47 which is a bit more accurate Wink

When using new parts I don't think anyone has breached the 1.5 barrier. In the past some one (I think deslok?) mentioned getting ~2.25 but that was with extreme scavenging.
178  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Cannot get 5830 above ~225 mhash/sec on: August 30, 2011, 02:00:07 AM
Try uninstalling and reinstalling your drivers.

Should i be getting more than what im getting right now?
You should be able to underclock to 300. When I had problems with my 5850's (lowest they could go was 500 mem) I reinstalled with the newest drivers and it fixed the majority of my problems. I also use trixx I found that I had stability problems with afterburner.

I'm not sarcastic, i'm really happily surprised by that.
My mistake I just tend to assume the worst. Most opinions seem to be negative here. Not many people are very optimistic.
