Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Metamask "decentra-lied" to us?

Well yeah, but this doesn't mean that Venezuelans all of a sudden cannot access their funds.
They just can't use Metamask. No one was ever arguing that Metamask is decentralized - they clearly have a centralized developer team, otherwise there is no way they can push out so many updates and so many marketing posts.
The blockchain itself is decentralized. Unless something is a true dApp, it is going to be centralized in some manner.

I know we have determined newbies among us this days that have developed a strong holding (HODL) habit in themselves, I have an advice for you as a crypto holder and I hope you listen.
Do not hold your tokens for too long without looking back, I have lost some this way because later they move to main chain running on separate blockchain, imagine if you decide to check the progress of that project only in 2024 and you see that you've missed out on swapping your old tokens to the new coin..
A good project should always leave the bridging channel open from old to new tokens. But yes, you should definitely keep in mind exactly what is happening when it comes to market movements. Crypto is super volatile even from a fundamental perspective, let alone price, so you want to constantly be re-evaluating your choices and decisions.

We agree. KYC has no place in the crypto space. We will find alternatives to combat free bonus abuse yet provide the best casino website the people deserve.
Excellent work. This sort of business is what is necessary to move forward in the cryptospace. Nobody likes draconian rules and red tape. Thank you all for the support and love we are receiving. Next week our NFT page is going live =) So we will be beginning on designing the very first conditions to a NFT giveaway! Keep you guys posted!
What sort of real utility would these NFTs carry? Would they just be sort of a loyalty scheme/card or would they actually have rakeback etc.?

Economy / Gambling / Re: BetJA.com | The highest Payout + $1000 Prize for BET Free Every Week
|
on: March 03, 2022, 07:31:50 AM

Not a typo. BetJa allows to withdraw Bitcoin through BinanceSmartChain network. I dont know how it is technically possible. I guess user later will have to use swap to turn Bitcoin in BSC network to any token in BSC network or withdraw directly to exchange. Maybe the thing called "bridge" is used in this case. I dont know. Never experienced that. Those who are using Free BTC fauced. You can only use it 30 times per week. After 3 claims, you have to make a bet with odds greater than 1.4. Since February 28 I have made 10 such bets, and the system told me "come back next week" The thing that alarms me with this is that they are charging 0.0001 BTC on BSC withdrawals? I think that the actual cost of the transaction, even if they don't batch things together, is probably closer to the vicinity of 100-1k sats at most. So that is quite a bit of a haircut imo. Even if this was routed through the main BTC network I think that the fees will probably be overstated by quite a lot.

Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Top Promising Altcoins That Failed?
|
on: March 03, 2022, 07:08:04 AM
|
Which altcoins from the last few years where there was a lot of positive talk about it has failed? And by failed, it means either it has went to 0 or it could be worth very little. Like it could been 50 dollars at one point and now 0.50.
EOS? $22 ATH but now, $2. That's a 90% drop that they were not able to recover. It was a buzz when it came out in 2017 during the ICO craze. Even dubbed as the "Ethereum Killer". Now, there isn't much hype around this coin anymore, not even a few mentions of the coin's growth, and their Twitter account seems dormant since last year 2021; so I guess it is safe to say this coin failed to kill Ethereum. Yep - I remember EOS and Steem, two of Dan Larimer's projects which are deemed ETH killers. But inevitably both failed because of a lack of leadership, although I think that a lot of the concepts underlying these coins (e.g. synthetic stable assets) are still very pervasive in the current time. I think that Lisk is also another project that failed. Used to be an ETH alternative as well.

Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: PoW coins becoming a rarity these days
|
on: March 03, 2022, 05:52:20 AM
|
Have you ever wondered why most altcoins turned to PoS, while only a few good-old coins are still using classical PoW consensus? As much as people want to make money by "staking" their holdings, most cryptocurrencies are becoming less-decentralized over time. There's strong criticism on Bitcoin's high level of "energy consumption" compared to other cryptocurrencies being traded on the market today. Some say the cause of PoW being a rarity these days is because they aren't "carbon-neutral". Others say that PoW is "outdated", compared to coins using PoS which are faster and cheaper to use for day-to-day transactions. If the number of PoS coins continues to grow, then Bitcoin will be the only decentralized cryptocurrency in the world. Should I be worried? What are your thoughts about this? Your input will be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Well, bitcoin dominance continues to hold strong. But yes, new projects don't seem to like PoW because of the environmental argument as well as the fact that people see staking rewards as "free money". I do think that we are going to be moving away from PoW in the long term, but that doesn't come at a compromise for BTC's long term dominance in my opinion. Perhaps after this PoS hype dies down we'll see another algorithm emerge even.

Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoins That Go Up When Whole Crypto Market Goes Down?
|
on: March 03, 2022, 05:41:12 AM

I've noticed that Cosmos has a tendency to hold strong in a bear market like we've seen.
It's probably because a lot of things route through Cosmos so it's always in demand, and there has been some exciting developments.
Though, the only true non-correlated cryptos is probably going to be stableassets that are pegged to gold or fiat. Everything in the crypto space is somewhat correlated on the way down.

I would definitely agree.
As with all investment, you would want to diversify into a market index which is weighted primarily based on market cap.
ETH and BTC aren't going anywhere, and BTC is actually becoming quite underrated in my opinion due to the fact that people seem to neglect the institutional interest that it has received. Some alts are quite undervalued and not worth the risk in my opinion.

Am I the only one who looks at the huge number of turnovers that Luka Doncic has? I know that the number is always going to be a little high because he is always carrying the ball, which implies a greater risk of losing, as happens to most great players, but the other day against Golden State if I remember correctly he lost 9 balls. He's still an off the charts player, but he's going to have to pay a little more attention to this.
100%. People seem to overlook this major flaw of his because of his flashy offense. But the thing is, his defense is suspect at times and he doesn't really play with much effort outside of a select few plays. He loses the ball quite a lot, and whereas Russell Westbrook gets criticised, he seems to get a free pass for it.

I echo the sentiment of everyone here.
Seems like one of the few bustabit clones that have popped up recently that are completely bogus.
The fact that they are giving out 100% bonuses with no requirements to wager anything is ridiculous and absurd. Just think why would they do this and essentially give away free money?

Yeah, exactly what Stunna said.
I think that maintaining the wallet infrastructure as well would cost a lot of money and should be priced into the fee, so what Stake is charging is actually quite reasonable.
Economy fee options are definitely attractive though, I think a lot of people playing with near dust amounts would like that.

I wouldn't really bet on this being long term.
Terra is significantly centralized and dependent on their developers to continue subsidising the Anchor Protocol, which is pretty much the only reason outside of Mirror as to why anyone would use the Terra ecosystem.
I don't think that it is sustainable to have 19.5% or so APY on deposits under a free market mechanism at this point.

Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I was tempted to sell off altcoin
|
on: February 26, 2022, 11:15:03 PM

Hello mate Do we currently calls the market situation the bear or what? Today I just opened my storage where i buy and stored most of my crypto coin and the rest I noticed have almost lost 60% of all my asset in dollars so I was tempted to sell off all and take a look at the market to know if there will be corrections, though I have been monitoring the market but I m not really convinced so I decided to share here to know whether I could get some people who knows about the market to give a little breakdown before I go into such decisions. I will really appreciate then i can know the reason for such action and decrease in most of the currencies especially BTC and BNB.
Thank you.
I will read all comments to see the reason.
I think that it is clear we are no longer in a bull market. Is that necessarily a reason to sell off all your bags? No. You never know when prices rebound and if you can buy in at a lower price. But I do think that it is smart to sell off low quality coins that just popped up over the 2021 bull market - these are likely overvalued and the most likely to collapse first.

Economy / Speculation / Re: Is There a Bitcoin Supercycle? Is this the end of 80% drawdowns?
|
on: February 26, 2022, 10:36:23 PM
|
The price movement of Bitcoin over the last year has been extremely intriguing. We haven't witnessed that significant drawdown yet, which has prompted some to believe that the cycles have shifted and that we are now in what is known as a super cycle (bull markets and mini bear markets). People on Twitter speculated about a supercycle earlier this year, so it's not like it sprang out of nowhere. Personally, I believe that the conventional cycles have now been disrupted. But I'm interested in what everyone else thinks.
It's definitely interesting. I would have thought quite frankly that by now there would be a significant drawdown in the BTC markets if history is any indication, but seems like the community aspect of it as strong as ever and BTC prices are holding up quite well above $30k. I do think that we'll test $20k soon, though. I think that eventually, the bearishness and FUD will ensue, perhaps just later this year.

Economy / Speculation / Re: Crypto prices crash as threat of war looms
|
on: February 26, 2022, 10:08:13 PM
|
If anything, I think that prices should be propped up by this news.
Bitcoin should mimic the direction of gold prices when it comes to wartime. People are going to be looking for stable asset classes that do not have ties to either country in these times, as they do not want their wealth being tied up in stocks or fiat currencies.
The initial selloff, in my opinion, was completely unjustified. The market is now responding rationally to the news.

Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Altcoins worth investing at dip
|
on: February 26, 2022, 09:38:18 PM
|
There has been so many YouTube influencers and other folks predicting to buy certain altcoins for huge profit and once the Bitcoin dropped down thus send a shockwave across altcoins we don't see people or influencer coming up with their favorite list of altcoins with the kind of confidence which they showed when market was green.
This is the right time to pick invest into altcoins which didn't got expected pump during the bullrun yet posses the potential, I want you guys to share your opinion on altcoins which we should invest.
Though I am not a big fan of XRP but I would prefer XRP and ADA to invest now at dip. 70% investment would be into ADA and 30% into XRP.
I wouldn't invest in XRP. Simply too much regulatory uncertainty surrounding its product and too little reward coming out of the ecosystem in my opinion. I would rather invest in quality, blue chip projects such as ETH which have significant milestones coming up in its roadmap, active development and community, and practical usage cases that extend far beyond just integration with traditional banks. ETH actually dipped to ~$2.3-2.4k region which was a fantastic buy for anyone looking to enter the market.

Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: About USDT
|
on: February 26, 2022, 09:20:34 PM
|
Please correct me if I got it all wrong, audited projects are projects that have passed some security checkup right? As a newbie I kinda like investing in projects that are audited atleast so back to my question, USDT is the biggest stable coin right? When I tracked it on coinmarketcap I found out that's it passed audits through Certik and Fairyproof, why haven't this clear the rumour that USDT might fail someday? Because it's Centralised? If that's it then why DAI ( decentralized stable coin) haven't grow over USDT all this while?
I'm not exactly sure what you're talking about, because DAI has certainly grown a lot more compared to USDT in terms of popularity and adoption over the past year or so. People understand that USDT is a dangerous game to play and they can freeze funds at any stage, which is certainly not a great recipe for holders. They also run fractional reserve which is exactly the reason why crypto was invented in the first place - to get away from the fractional reserve system whose fragility had brought about the GFC. I would definitely keep away and invest my own cash in more proven decentralized stablecoins.
