1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Solana - SOL Building a bare-metal Validator node hardware discussion on: January 22, 2021, 09:21:49 AM
Building a bare-metal validator for Solana https://solana.com

The vision behind Solana is a system that scales with the hardware and bandwidth it’s supplied with.
So I want to build a high spec machine to keep up with the solana network 400ms block time 50.000 tps as long as possible with out needing to upgrade hardware along the line.

I built mining rigs before but this one is very different as GPUs on solana actually serve a purpose, to speed up transactions per second solving for time and confirmations compared to bitcoin and eth where GPUs serve to slow down the network playing a lottery of sorts.

currently I am planning a build to stake my own Solana investment with below parts which the docs recommended
https://docs.solana.com/running-validator/validator-reqs

AMD Threadripper 3990x — 64 Cores, 2.20GHz
128GB 2666MHz DDR4 ECC RAM
3x RTX 2080 Ti, 11GB GDDR6, 4352 CUDA Cores
1x 4TB Samsung 970 PRO NVME M.2 SSD

As I understand the network uses all available hardware resources to speed up confirmation at millisecond levels and insane amount of transactions per second

I know that this machine is going to get hot, I couldn't decide on a power supply? for this setup and a compact UPS,

anyone with some experience I need some suggestions. I tried to write on their discord but most discussions there are read-only.

I'm also a loyal fan of ETH, you know what I'm thinking when ETH has surpassed ATH. I wish could buy more ETH, we are slowly surpassing our market targets, I believe that after we have surpassed ATH we will prepare for an even stronger bull run. ETH players in this market are doing very well, but will never replace ETH's position in the market, you can compare the capitalization of the top altcoin to see this.

I see a pattern emerging here, one can compare it to the internet's early beginnings

USDC Circle is now on Solana
AKash first decentralized Cloud project is running on Solana

Below is an example Kin with 22 Million users SPL tokenizing on SOLANA, I have seen close to 100 projects doing this, mainly SERUM dex the next generation Defi platform. Trading on Uniswap is Geocities web browsing experience from the mid 1990's where on Serum Dex which runs on Solana it feels like you are trading on Binance in real time.

KIN ON SOLANA
Token Migration
Kin is migrating to the Solana blockchain to scale for mass adoption.
Here’s what you need to know:

Migrating to Solana
Kin has undergone a number of evolutions since its first generation as an ERC20 token on the Ethereum blockchain. Here are some basic definitions to help you understand the different iterations and upgrades to Kin since that time:

Definitions
Kin1: First generation of Kin running on Ethereum
Kin2: Second generation of Kin running on Stellar (non-mainnet).
Kin3: Third generation of Kin running on Stellar (non-mainnet), where Kin is the base asset.
Kin4: Proposed fourth generation of Kin running on Solana (mainnet).

Ethereum will be surpassed by Solana - SOL https://solana.com in the very near future, Ethereum 2.0 will not be able to handle fast sub second transactions with very low fees let alone the scaling needs of DEX and Defi projects and Dapps. The migration already started with many big projects new and old utilizing this new revolutionary technology.
