I find its more beneficial for me to be in a lower speed pool. Maybe the pool was just 'lucky' during that time, but I got a lot more BTC/day on avarage from continuum and lower speed pools vs any other pool, eclipse included, or so it seems so far. Example, my cashout per day is lowest on deepbit, by a LOT, which has the highest speeds. Cashout on continuum was higher, but less regular, which was fine by me.

Thanks for the heads up about eclipsemc Total speed is a little higher then I would like, but it looks like home for now.

Nooooo! Don't go away! I'll pay a fee too. I dislike all other pools I've tried except this one. If i'm not mining for Continuum I'm solo mining, which doesn't really do anything for me

in today's episode of why-NAT-is-stupid-and-evil-and-needs-to-die...
And if ISPs would include a block of 5 addys for everyone it would. But until then... My port has been forwarded since I got started. No reason not to that I know of.

But even with lower hash rate, mathematically it is possible for some one to get one within a week right? I mean its unlikely, but possible, like winning the power ball. The more I read the more it just seems like a crap shoot.

I prefer a smaller pool even with my low hashrate.

Just added one more fan still the same problem. Should the fan blow to the cards or away from the cards?
Depends on your setup and case. Example: I have 3 fans blowing out, two on the top of the case, one on the top of the back plate. I have 1 intake on the front of the case blowing across my drives. I have passive intake holes on the side of my case right where my card is. So, passive air is sucked in due to the air flow in my case, takes the hot air from the card up to the fans blowing out. Easy setup since hot air rises.

NVidia cards are FAR less effective compared to the same speeds on an ATI card.
As far as your problem, do what he suggested. Go to your account page on Slush's website, and follow the instructions to ADD a worker. You need a different username/password for your miner, which is done by setting up a 'worker'

GPU Core: 950.0 Memory: 900.0 Nothing else changed (except fan)
Edit: up to 289 with GPU at 974. Anything higher, and I crash :\ Temps are low though (high ~70)

No, actually.
I have found a way to circumvent the difficulty.
I can still mine at a difficulty of 1 if I want to, but I don't.
Ehh, how can that even be possible?

Ok, found some answers here: http://forum.bitcoin.org/index.php?topic=19001.0I went back to a batch file. I now see 0 Accepted 0 Rejected over and over along with my current speed. I'm guessing if Accepted goes to 1, that's a block? I think I finally grasp this concept of it being a 'lottery' with no 'progress' to be lost if I stop for a bit.

How many Americans does it take to screw in a light bulb?
Hey, that's not funny. We're suing!

Ok, been mining for a few weeks with pools, and I want to try my luck with solo mining. I know this can be a long and fruitless process.
My question is, how can you follow stats when mining solo? On pools, you have shares, and they tell you when a block is found. How is this accomplished solo?
I have been using batch files, but am now using guiminer.
Since starting it up solo, its just told me the Mhash/s, Difficulty 1 hashes: 0
So, can I find out the equivalent of how many 'shares' I have? I know that's a pooling term, but I figure, for example, if it takes 1,000,000 'shares' on a pool, I should be able to see where I'm at in terms of meeting the equivalent solo mining...
Also, how do I know when I've solved a block? Do I just need to wait until coins show up in my Client or what??
Does this make sense?!?
Edit: also, if I stop my miner for a few hours, then start again, does that essentially 'reset' the clock? I know its not all about time, mostly luck, but I'm not sure about how this works when stopping/starting miners when working solo...
Should I stop using guiminer and go back to batch files? I also read it had some issues, not sure if that was only for pool mining though.
Thanks for any input or comments!

Hi, I saw a thread here for the continuum pool. I joined up, and I have a balance of over 1 BTC. In the other thread, there was another user asking if payment requirements had changed as they also had a decent amount of confirmed coins. There was not a reply to his post. When do the automatic payments go out for confirmed balances on this pool? Edit: I know the newbies section isn't the best place for me to get noticed and get an answer, but its the only place I'm allowed to post... If some one cares to quote the other guy in the other thread with the same question, and add my link in a post, that may be helpful... Thanks! Edit2: Looks like some one posted asking about payment times in the thread after I posted this
