Thanks HCP and welsh
I found a template and edited the passphrase and it ran with the result .
one more question is I tried it a second time and the second attempt wouldn't run because it found the password on its first attempt. Is that normal

Thanks for you replies HCP and uartasic ,
The token text file had the word tes ( short for test ) , which is the wallet password so I could test the  btcrecover programme but it didn't find it , what I would like is a text file from which I can input my guess at my wallet password of which I know but not in the right order . Could either of you email me one where I can input my guess .

Thanks Paul

That's one thing ,  I didn't know you can look up address's . If its not being used is there anything I can do . Also I have tried importing it through bitcoin consul but I get code error 5  . Are the send and receive address in the same format of encryption .
Thanks for your reply jbrnt .

Hi , been mining since february and received my first payout from slush pool , my problem is that in the receive coins box on my account I put the sending address to receive coins , not the receive address to receive my coins . Are they lost ?
Hope this makes sense , any help or advice , thanks in advance .
11  Bitcoin / Mining support / Avalon miner stopped working on: March 27, 2014, 03:02:00 PM
Hi ,new here and I bought a Avalon miner in January and set it up through its web address . All was running fine till yesterday when I looked at it it was just sat with the power lights and Ethernet light blinking . No noise what so ever . I bought a new power supply but that has not resolved the problem . Any help would be great . Is there any reset button . Would it cut out if it overheated.
