841  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Anonymity on: August 06, 2014, 12:37:58 PM
the big data make anonymity become more and more difficult.

What do you mean by "the big data"? Blockchain info?

I think he means the mass surveillance program which includes data from millions of web-trackers, social networks including facebook, email services, phone conversations, instant messengers, google searches and the list goes on. All of this data is collected and accessible by employees of the NSA and private contractors without a warrant, both private and public information. To be anonymous these days you need to take extreme precautions, because there is money to be made in stalingrad surveillance systems  Wink

842  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Minimum Wage in Bitcoin on: August 06, 2014, 12:31:12 PM
Before any companies can start thinking about paying it bitcoin the mentality would have to be the salary is x BTC per hour not x amount of dollars worth of BTC an hour - other wise there is no benefit.

Some companies pay part of the salary in BTC, but I think to pay all of the salary in BTC makes sense only if your employees are spread across the globe. I read in another thread BTC will overtake USD in about 7 years, so I think this mentality could change soon.
843  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Feature Request: Bitcoin Alias on: August 06, 2014, 12:28:12 PM
Is there any way for bitcoin to have an alias system?

You can do it in the wallet - in some clients, such as Multibit, you can associate an alias with a bitcoin address. If I'm not mistaken it has an address book. However, as far as I know you cannot do this on the blockchain itself.
844  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ross Ulbricht: FBI Didn't Have Search Warrant, Violated Fourth Amendment on: August 06, 2014, 12:22:12 PM
There will be no chance at all that the charger will be dropped, you can't blame them for trying though. I really hope Ross comes out on top on this one though, he has a strong case.

The media attention on this case is so large that there won't be a chance for a fair trial. I think Ross will figure it out the best way to deal with it though.

If they broke the law to catch him I hope he's set free and even recovers the funds they stole.  Can't be picking and choosing who goes to jail outside of the legal system we have in place, simple as that.

His BTC were auctioned even before the trial is finished. Personally I don't think he can be held responsible for running a web server, in the same way that Google cannot be held responsible for what videos people put on YouTube.
845  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A Reddit user is claiming to be a whistleblower from the Federal Reserve... on: August 06, 2014, 12:12:09 PM
Quote
He seems a bit more serious than other "whistleblowers" I've seen, promising proof to come and an AMA. Basically, he claims to be a researcher, and that his team was put to work on an economic simulation involving Bitcoin. They concluded that Bitcoin would overtake the US dollar as early as 2021, and that it completely disrupts everything they understand about economics and monetary policy. He claims their superiors didn't like these conclusions, and hid the research while relocating the researchers to lesser roles.

Not really a whistleblower if it's an AMA, I think he wouldn't use reddit then. According to this prediction there are only 7 years left  Cheesy
I think the story in itself sounds plausible.
Quote
I don't see why they need all those complicated statistical models, projections and simulations to realize the obvious: Bitcoin is the ultimate FED killer, and it is designed to go viral.

Academics need these kind of models to convince their peers, who still think fiat is the future. and nobody will publish their work if there are no models, projections and simulations. The government in general has no idea, a lot of talk but no vision.
846  Other / MultiBit / Re: Multibit: a way to reduce transaction fee on: August 06, 2014, 11:58:00 AM
Quote
10. This is actually the value of the transaction fee expressed in satoshis. So if you want your transaction fee to be zero, just change this
value to 0 or anything else you like.

Will transactions still be confirmed if you set it to say 0.00005 BTC ?

Hmm.. let me compare the situation.

2. Is it possible for a Jew to live in an Arab nation?

It's possible in some, but would be a small minority with restricted rights depending on the state.

Turkey - 3%
Iran - 2% non muslim including jewish
Jordan - 2% other religion, could be jewish
Saudia Arabia - 0%
Kuwait - 0%

848  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Everyone of my friends says the same: "How do I get Bitcoins?" on: August 06, 2014, 11:47:01 AM
Everyone I've talked about to Bitcoin reacts simarly. They expect it's some sort of way out from the rats race and they are going to get rich like the stories they read, but as soon as you told them these were the early adopters they lose interest and say they would rather get paid in actual money.

But you are wrong.

Yes, I think he is wrong too. We are the early adaptors. Take the forum as indicator, there 347.634 members. In a few years I think this will reach 1.000.000 members, the price per BTC may be far beyond $1000.

849  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Help me to make the right desicion on: August 06, 2014, 11:36:50 AM
Hey guys.

What do you think is the best online wallet coinbase or blockchain?

I really do not whant to lose my coins same as mgtox or whats the name.

Why not use a desktop wallet, in which case you are in control of the money as opposed to a server owning the money?  (data = money)
You could use Electrum, Multibit, Armory..  Either way from those two I'd pick blockchain, but only for small amounts.
850  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: which is the good site to get wallet? on: August 06, 2014, 11:33:31 AM
Quote
is coinbase.com is good site i have heard that site is not working properly...? is there any other site we can get good wallet without any problems......?

The problem with online wallets is that they can be a scam or attacked. This has happened in the past with some online wallets. If you do go with online wallets I'd suggest using one of the big names.

I'd recommend using a desktop wallet such as Multibit https://www.multibit.org/ or Electrum  https://electrum.org/ simply because in this case you control the money, they're easy to use.

851  Other / Politics & Society / Re: [2014-08-06] More than a billion passwords stolen by russian gang on: August 06, 2014, 10:00:32 AM
Centralized systems are by default less secure, it has one single entry for attack. The user base is just massive, and I think this is one of the reasons why a system like Bitcoin is superior to centralized systems.

Quote
"In December, 40 million credit card numbers and 70 million addresses, phone numbers and additional pieces of personal information were stolen from the retail giant Target by hackers in Eastern Europe."

"russian gang said to amass more than a billion stolen internet credentials"

Russian or somewhere from eastern europe?  Huh
852  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin was Made by the U.S Government on: August 06, 2014, 12:03:49 AM
Let's be serious here, U.S Government employees are everywhere, on this forum, on chatsites, even chaterbate.

With that being said, they know the kind of BS some people spread about them with their conspiracy theories and whatnot. What if Bitcoin, was made by the government? Think about it, if the U.S government just came out and blatantly said that they created Bitcoin, then the public would react violently and start saying that the government is Socialist/Communist and etc etc. It would look bad. But, if the government made Bitcoin in secret under the sudonym, Satoshi, Nakamoto, then they could effectively improve our monetary system behind the scenes and help stop the rampant inflation the USD is facing, without having to face criticism by the complete imbeciles, we call the american public.

Basically, The U.S Government is like Batman. They do the real work in the shadows to not face criticism by ignorant people, and in those shadows, they have created a system for the future, Bitcoin.

It may as well be the former Egyptian government. It doesn't really matter who created it, they have no more control over it than you and me. In the same way that torrent or peer-to-peer networks cannot be taken down. I don't think the public would say it is socialist/communist, they would say 'it wouldn't work'.
853  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Alex Jones is pro-BTC, says his store will begin to accept as payment... on: August 05, 2014, 11:50:04 PM
I think it's good news, because the viewers of his show will hear of bitcoin from a positive perspective.  I think soon other (competitor) shows will follow.
854  Economy / Economics / Re: Easiest way to make BTC? on: August 05, 2014, 09:53:01 AM
There are lot way to get BTC :
-Mining
-Buy BTC
-Open gambling site in BTC
-Offer service in BTC
-Faucet  Tongue
-Signature-Ad Campaign  Grin
-Make some altcoin and dump it when price is high  Tongue

I think impossible to get 1BTC/day expect you have lot money to started

buy is the easiest and fast way to make BTC

It depends where you are located, buying is hard in some countries.
I think 1BTC/day is possible if you have a good business.
855  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin is slowly changing my ideology from socialism to libertarianism! on: August 05, 2014, 09:19:05 AM
how does one protect their lives from violence from terrorist and gangs in an anarchist society without the help of  a powerful government and watch dog security service?

I think anarchism leads to mob rule.

There's nothing wrong with the rule of law if it is based on Objective Law (upholding individual rights).

I think in an anarchist society the people would be more connected. For example, you would need your neighbours to protect you and your assets. It's not like an anarchist society wouldn't have (unwritten) rules.

As for the other part, the government is a powerful mob.

856  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is a Bitcoin Whale? - The answer is here for the new people on: August 05, 2014, 09:10:35 AM
And yes, if 300 coins have such a influence on the price, 1000 BTC would definitely have a huge impact, and those people, can easily be called a Whale, by your definition.  Grin

I think anyone with 1000 BTC (578000.00 USD) or more is a whale. If the price rises the amount of BTC to own to be considered to be a whale will be lower.
857  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is the biggest problem in crypto currencies? on: August 05, 2014, 08:56:40 AM
I think the biggest problem is the pump and dump alt coins. There are literally hundreds of them, made by the authors to make a quick dime, but end up having no value.
858  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-08-05] Kyrgyzstan: Bitcoin Payments Violate State Law on: August 05, 2014, 08:51:36 AM
http://www.coindesk.com/kyrgyzstan-bitcoin-payments-violate-state-law/

The National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic, the central bank of Kyrgyzstan, has issued new statements confirming the use of bitcoin and other digital currencies as a form of payment is currently illegal under national law.

Issued this July, the notice states that the only legal tender in Kyrgyzstan is the national currency, the som (KGS), and that as such, any use of bitcoin for payment violates this policy. At press time, 1 KGS was worth $0.019.

How are they going to regulate this? It's not possible. Every citizen can simple use bitcoin and exchange them in a neighbouring state.
859  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-08-05] Australians turn to bitcoins to boost retirement savings on: August 05, 2014, 08:49:10 AM
I think this will cause the market price to rise, but I'm not sure how many Australians are doing this. I think it clearly demonstrates how rigged the financial banking system is.
860  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Would you continue using bitcoin if your country banned it completely? on: August 05, 2014, 08:46:47 AM
To ban a currency is just ridiculous, I think most users would keep using it.
If it is a crime to own money, you are not living in a capitalist state.
