1. PIVX Development Update - Week 3, December 2020

This latest update covers the recent development highlights such as the SHIELD testnet testing results, new TR3 testnet wallet release, as well as some new and exciting information on what else is coming in 2021!

2. New PIVX SHIELD Testnet (TR3) Wallet Released!

After a very successful 2 week testing period with the previous TR2 wallet, a whole heap of new bug fixes, performance improvements, and consensus changes have since been merged into master. Due to this, a new testnet has been deployed (testnet5), and the subsequent TR3 wallet is now available to public testing once again. The list of PRs merged between tr2 and tr3 can be found in PR #2078.

Please note that this TR3 wallet is not compatible with the previous TR2 testnet blockchain. So it will create a new testnet5 folder on your system and start as a brand new wallet, requiring you to acquire some fresh new tPIV from the updated faucet (link below).

1. You must run the wallet with -testnet parameter (or testnet=1 in pivx.conf)

some explorers are still on 4.0 , sometimes they have "about button" where version shows up, several such were ide'd , some were notified , in any case come onto discord is by far more dynamic  . legendary to legendary

IMPORTANT NOTES ABOUT THE 4.0 UPGRADE

- At GMT Sunday, 5 January 2020 00:00 (epoch  1578182400) SPORK_15 (ACTIVE PROTOCOL) has been enabled. This means that updated clients will reject connections with nodes running the old active protocol (70917).

- At block B=2153200 (roughly in 24 hrs) the new consensus rules (time protocol, masternode signatures, blocks version 7) will be enforced. Clients not following the new rules will fork.

- 180 blocks before B (thus at block 2153020) SPORK_8 (MATERNODE_ENFORCEMENT) will be temporarily disabled. Blocks without masternode payout will be considered valid by the network.

- 101 blocks after B (thus at block 2153301) SPORK_8 (MATERNODE_ENFORCEMENT) will be re-enabled.

- 201 blocks after B (thus at block 2153401) SPORK_17 (COLD_STAKING) and SPORK_18 (V4 SPENDS) will be enabled for the first time. From that block onwards it will be possible to create coldstaking delegations and spend v1 zerocoins.

:warning: Difficulty:
After block B there will be a massive drop in the reported difficulty on the network (likely by a factor 15-20x). This is normal and does not imply an equal drop in the total number of staked coins but rather a different representation of the stake weight. It is due to the restrictions set by the new time protocol over the proof of stake algorithm

just a lot of p@d at time like in the good old days (been doing this very long time no lol not p@d but crypto in general) Today ABC tomorrow STEEM --:) key thing guys in steem are working codebase large, cryptography is solid and very well protected and its well designed that must have a value (I invest mostly were  I see software eng skills and here I do)

I do this for self in some other projects I analyze insight in git , steem repo is active and continuously updated , issued checked and resolved constant code either refactored in  places or new features added


Excluding merges, 4 authors have pushed 64 commits to master and 70 commits to all branches. On master, 94 files have changed and there have been 3,172 additions and 667 deletions.

I am usually on discord what I do later is some coins have trading channel and we share such finds or just tips to each other if something is under priced etc for investment evaluation

its a decentralized operation, most whom I did business with on are and work remote , this would be important if I would have not looked at git repo and found no activity and or continuous updates, I am even surprised there is a PO box has to be for snail

fact is bear market took a toll not just here and so some people lost their money (its natural) risk is always with BTC also facing regulations such as having poloniex move out from US territory

quick question to @smooth .. do you know but not a show stopper to me at least it is not since I can connect to remote nodes for transactions, is it possible to fast sync and not on ssd drive steem chain (similar to eth with the --fast switch that syncs the chain local and allows transactions to proceed) again not a show stopper since remote works super well! thanks so much in advance!
