Well you can be sure that the money that you do end up spending on Intersango, as BitcoinConsultancy (the guys running Intersango) make huge contributions to bitcoin development(genjix is a core bitcoin developer).
1262  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Intersango.com now the second largest exchange; trading USD, EUR, GBP, & PLN on: February 20, 2012, 12:57:04 AM
Yeah, not happy about that at all. They can run an exchange but don't know how to operate a bulk e-mailing program? Doesn't exactly inspire confidence.

I've withdrawn my coins and will create a new account with a different e-mail address, just to be sure.
I'll move to a different exchange because of this email flaw and that they charge fees now.I want a reliable, fee free exchange that exchanges BTC to GBP (as Im in UK)

Reliable and fee free are mutually exclusive when it comes to bitcoin exchanges, an exchange has real running costs not even related to software development, it takes a lot of time and is not the sort of thing people would do for fun.

You will find new exchanges that for a time don't charge, but all eventually do, otherwise they close their doors.

Fortunately Intersango has been (and still is) the most reliable exchange out there, from both a security and general operations perspective. There have been none of the shenanigans, frauds, and shady dealings that have plagued other exchanges.

If you want any kind of support(never mind decent customer support) Intersango is the way to go, and they're in the UK too.

i prefer trading them at mtgox.

That's not investing, thats speculating.

GLBSE was mentioned, version 2.0 is going to be coming out next week.
1264  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Intersango.com now the second largest exchange; trading USD, EUR, GBP, & PLN on: February 19, 2012, 06:11:49 PM
Well it seems that there's discounts on the way. I was talking to the Intersango guys today, this was a result of human error, a typo, someone added an s and the result was the release of the emails.

At least it's not a hack.
1265  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Intersango.com now the second largest exchange; trading USD, EUR, GBP, & PLN on: February 18, 2012, 06:40:52 PM
trade fee is 0.65%

mtgox is cheaper

Just as cryptoanarchist has said, Intersango are much faster with deposits and withdrawals, never mind that they actually answer support queries.

I mean yeah you can go ahead and try to use Gox because it's cheaper at the moment (Intersango had been free for ages, didn't make much difference then), but if something happens with your account out of the ordinary you're screwed.
1266  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: MtGox Wire Transfer Out Problem on: February 17, 2012, 09:42:48 AM
Hey Bitcat, if you're based in the UK then Intersango is by far the best exchange to use, they have the largest market for GBP, transfers to UK bank accounts are quick and cheap (although as was said before, there are at times delays for various reasons). But most importantly, if you have a problem they will get onto you and sort it out, as opposed to ignoring you for weeks and months.

1267  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Mt.Gox customer service is awful, plus they won't reinburse me for their mistake on: February 17, 2012, 09:39:07 AM
This has been a common problem with MtGox since...well since there was a MtGox.

People says it's the largest exchange, which is true, but there is almost no customer service, and when things mess up they often leave you hanging, even paying for the cost of their mistake.

You would be lucky to get any response from them at all.

If you want better customer service, move to an exchange thats known for it, Intersango.

Definately. Never using mtgox again. If they were a smaller buisness set up late then people wouldn't use them, but people almost have too because they are so big. I'm all for small exchanges anyway. One big company pretty much controling a so-called peer to peer free network isn't good.

People don't have to use MtGox anymore, there are lots of other markets out there, ok, not as big but still big enough and growing. I said Intersango for two reasons, one is their service, which is just great, the other is because they're growing really quickly.

They've already got the largest market for GBP(3x the size of MtGoxGBP), and since TradeHill has closed their USD market has grown a lot, up to third place, it's already third largest for EUR and second largest for PLN.
1268  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 16 Days & Mt. Gox still hasn't sent my funds. on: February 16, 2012, 11:22:42 PM
I've gave up on MtGox a long time ago, and was lucky to have done that before they were compromised. As a result of having an MtGox account I had multiple hack attempts (none succesful) on my email account.

1270  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: my MTGOX accoun frozen, can not withdraw, I have yubikey. on: February 16, 2012, 10:46:37 AM
.............

Any safe exchanges someone can recommend, if they are anonymous that would even be better, if not any exchange that does not freeze the accounts under any reason would be great.

Any exchange that does not freeze accounts for any reason is in risk of being shut down, all trustworthy exchanges will suspend accounts that appear to have fraudulent activity on them. Or is not trustworthy themselves.

This is because exchanges must co-operate with banks and they have not choice if they want to keep using the bank account.

The difference between a great exchange and a rubbish one is the customer service in dealing with your frozen account. MtGox are terrible at this, customer service is not something they seem to care about.

If you want an exchange that don't mess you around and actually answer your support issues then use Intersango, they're #2 now after TradeHill was shutdown.
1271  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Intersango.com now the second largest exchange; trading USD, EUR, GBP, & PLN on: February 15, 2012, 09:55:16 AM
They sound like an exchange set up by TPTB, but I will use them because I use all exchanges that I can. I notice they still have Paxum listed as an option - how's that?

That needs to be updated since the recent news about Paxum.
1272  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Tradehill shutdown & the Money Transmission Act on: February 14, 2012, 11:53:29 PM
If this starts becoming a problem im sure all the exchange sites will start hosting with providers such as PRQ

PRQ?
1273  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Tradehill shutdown & the Money Transmission Act on: February 14, 2012, 11:52:16 PM
Why not Intersango.com?

Now second largest bitcoin exchange, British registered business, 100% legal and regulation compliant(means no getting shut down).

Run by bitcoin core developers transparently.

Trade USD, GBP, EUR, and PLN. Only MtGox has more volume.

Second longest running, never compromised (they're often the ones to find breaches in other exchanges).

Best customer service in bitcoinland and lowest fees.

Transfer funds using Dwolla & SEPA outside the UK, one day transfers when in the UK.

How much did they pay you to say this Cheesy ?

Kidding. They really are an excellent exchange but it needs more liquidity at times compared to gox and backup strategy if their account is closed.

28 pieces of silver?

Seriously though I can't sing their praises enough, when I was in China I was having some issues and they got everything sorted out for me. I've worked with genjix when I started GLBSE, sound bloke that.

Why would their account be closed? They're not some fly by night operation, when starting they actually went to the FSA(guys responsible for financial services in the UK) to get bitcoin catagorised and ensure they comply with all applicable legislation and regulations. It's doing shady stuff that gets your account shut down.

Besides, weren't you saying only a couple of posts ago how we need a decent alternative to MtGox? Well here you go.

Looking at CampBX market depth, they don't have much circulation.... and it seems if someone wants Bitcoins, they would have to pay a rediculous price for them. ew

http://bitcoincharts.com/markets/CBXUSD_depth.html

So what do you think is the best exchange then?

With the shutting down of TradeHill Intersango.com is now the second largest bitcoin exchange out there after MtGox.

It's run by genjix(Amir Taaki), a core bitcoin developer with his team Patrick Strateman(phantomcircuit) and Donald Norman(Incitatus).

From my own personal experience they are by far the most professional and well run exchange out there.

They're transparent, secure (often is members of Intersango that have pointed out vulnerabilites and inconsistencies in TradeHill and MtGox as well as other websites), the cheapest major exchange, have great customer service (even when I was all the way over in China), and are registered in the UK (instead of some Caribbean island).

They trade in GBP, USD, EUR, and PLN

Why are they not more popular? I mean when you consider the shady crap that's happened with the likes of MtGox, TradeHill, and numerous other exchanges why?

It's the second largest bitcoin exchange now, surely more people should be talking about it.
1277  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Trade Hill users... on: February 14, 2012, 11:03:18 PM
Yeah I've never used CampBX but with Tradehill shutting down, there isn't a more reputable non-Gox exchange that comes to mind.  I'll probably start using CBX in the next week or two.

What rubbish, Intersango.com is by far the best bitcoin exchange available, it's now the second largest exchange, right after MtGox.

They're fully registered in the UK, have great customer service, and is the most professionally run exchange on the market, that are one of the few transparent exchange operations out there.

I can tell you from personal experience that they are excellent.

Really you are better off using an exchange, intersango.com is the most trustworthy and has the best security record, also they pretty much have the best customer service.

Very well, next step is to wait for the bonds to mature (hopefully) and if they do then I'll make the final payments on them.

Ben, if this happens I'll talk to you separately and see what we can come up with.

In the meantime, it has become obvious that Peter was not doing his job, i.e. he was not doing what he was advertising. Verifying the integrity of various assets he invested in, instead it seems he threw it into almost any asset going.

I'm unsure what action may be taken against him if any. He's certainly bared from issuing shares on GLBSE again. Does anyone have any information regarding his real life identity?
Please PM me.
