461  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The need for mental section or public orientation for new gamblers. on: December 13, 2023, 07:58:26 PM
No need for a new sub board or topic. People here are constantly discussing gambling addiction and it already became an eyesore. You are in the gambling section, and you must understand that people here discuss gambling altogether. If gambling is too much for these newbies, they should seek help from a professional or someone they know personally and trust, and not from some random degenerates on the internet willingly discussing gambling and losing money daily.

I'm all for responsible gambling and preventing people to become gambling addicts but I know that this isn't the right avenue for that.
462  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How much human supervision do you believe AI needs for crypto trading? on: December 13, 2023, 07:37:36 PM
If the AI model employed in trading can learn actively while it is trading, I can say that very minimal human supervision is needed to make sure that it stays profitable. AIs nowadays are intelligent enough to learn autonomously after being given parameters on what it should learn and what its goals should be. Every now and then, humans can intervene and fine-tune the AI, but yeah, they can do quick, on the fly decisions that most humans cannot.

Then again, a lot of traders have tried using AI alone in trading to prove a point. Even AIs get the brutal reality that trading is really, really hard and requires quick thinking and spotting trends and patterns that even experienced humans miss.
463  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Which one is fun, watching with bet or without a bet? on: December 13, 2023, 06:57:17 PM
I totally get invested in a game when there is something at stake. When there isn't, I just try to enjoy every moment of it and savor it as much as I can. It becomes stressful when the team you bet on isn't performing the way you expect them to be based on the lines that was provided and based on the information you have gathered. Then of course, it becomes a different story when you win the bet and get something by watching your team crush it.
464  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Passionate gambler keeps the gambling boards rolling even after retirements on: December 12, 2023, 08:00:15 PM
That is passion right there. If he isn't asking joiners for a fee, then that is just something he'd like to do and see other people to enjoy. If he's addicted, he wouldn't even try to make it a tournament and instead, play high stakes with the money to try and win them all. Also, it seems like he has the funds to hold this annually, so I think he's just enjoying the financial he has and tries to share some of it to the people who plays the same game as him.

That's just an old man trying to socialize and spread fun around him with the help of his money, and I see nothing wrong with that.
465  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Logic of some gamblers against math on: December 12, 2023, 07:13:10 PM
It's called a heater mate.

You are supposed to keep playing on the heater until you meet a cold section. Most of us especially me, sometimes on the heater not only keep playing but raise the bet by maybe 20-50%. In the heater, you can turn on for 2-4 weeks lose back to even with just a single section. One things people should aware, just need to set up a limit win and stop while you got cold section (streak/multiple lose) after your heater.

Yes, the chance are same but one things people should learn keep doing/bet on heater until you lose after keep betting + raise your bet and then bet back to original bet. That's it, and then call the day.

Doesn't that defeat the purpose of winning in the first place? If you'll keep on upping your bet while you're in the zone, you're not gaining anything at the end of the day or until you get to that cold section. Perhaps people who won huge amounts should keep a portion of their wins immediately and play with whatever's left of those winnings to their heart's content. I understand that you should strike while the iron is hot, but I think it isn't fully applicable to a game wherein chances are most probably not in your favor most of the time.
466  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: WHY PEOPLE ARE NOT TAKING THEIR PRIVACY SERIOUSLY. on: December 12, 2023, 05:53:44 PM
- Convenience: People may be more likely to share their information if it makes their life easier or more convenient. For example, many people sign up for services that require them to share their personal information without fully understanding the implications.
Choosing convenience over security and privacy is a quick way to lose your funds, but nevertheless so many people do it, and that's why many people lose their funds when an exchange bites the dust or is hacked, they also lose their funds when they expose their seed phrase or their device gets compromised, etc.

This is because too many people store their funds in exchanges because they think it is more convenient than self custody, people also back up their seed phrase in their email account or in their device's notepad, so it would be 'easier' for them to access it, etc. It isn't 'convenience' that matters, but security and privacy, and i wish more bitcoiners understood this.

Not only bitcoiners but hopefully normal people who have digital banks and accounts as well.

I've worked in a service desk environment for quite some time, and I know that a lot of people, including high-ranking members of the organization I support, use passwords that are too common to be guessed immediately. Most even use their work emails to visit some suspicious websites and complain that they are receiving lots of spam emails offering them something. They don't understand that they are easily targetable by a lot of malicious entities out there. Heck, if these guys are careless in handling their work data, I believe they are this way with their personal accounts as well. No mixer, or any other service or software for that matter, can help these guys unless they are properly educated.

A lot of people still ignore privacy because they believe that they can always seek help from authorities in resolving their concerns. In bitcoin and crypto, you can't do that, and you only have yourself to make sure that your property is safe and secure. I understand that mixers offer an avenue to criminals to launder money, but fiat is also used to launder money in large scale way before crypto is invented, so the hate that people give to mixers is kind of biased when the same scenario can be done with fiat money, too.
467  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Google is preparing for Spot Bitcoin ETF on: December 12, 2023, 05:42:35 PM
What about Facebook?

While on their ToS, advertising crypto-related products are not allowed on the platform, a lot of content creators in Facebook are actually advertising crypto-related services and products. Those guys have millions of followers and are not being reprimanded or apprehended with what they're doing. Honestly at this point, Facebook should reevaluate their stance with cryptocurrencies as other giants around them have shifted course and has become somewhat tame to it.
468  Economy / Gambling / Re: ✨ Shuffle.com | The next generation of crypto casinos | Sports, Casino + token on: December 12, 2023, 04:55:52 PM
This people just got hurt for their loss that's why maybe this is a part of revenge then want to stir up something to confuse people about the story they told here. But I guess people who already tried this casino will never easily believe on some claims without any valid evidence. That's why he didn't get any sympathy on the accusation he posted since people know how troll work and also people need to see a proof before they believe on any accusation posted by random individual.

This only tell everything that if they want to accuse someone or a casino they need to validate since if there's nothing to be shown then no people would take him seriously regarding on what he claims here.
Yes it's misleading with revenge, but we here won't believe the trolls he makes. Grin

If he really has a problem with strong evidence maybe we can validate his evidence but I'm sure he just wants to confuse a lot of people with his trolls but we don't just believe it, even the casino people here always want evidence to see... I'm not so sure he will come back with another post. Cheesy

Little Mouse, is there any progress on the sports betting contest?  Grin
The Champions League starts tomorrow and it's going to be exciting for sure!.  Wink
One of the great things about this forum is that you could be a newbie and accuse a service with a long history of providing a good service to many other clients, however if the newbie has evidence on their side they are right, the community is going to back them up on their accusations, so if that person feels they have been wronged then they can bring their evidence forward and let the community decide if they are right, but if this does not happen then we can easily dismiss those accusations as coming from someone that is salty they lost money they could not afford, and now they are trying to blame the casino for their own mistakes.

More often than not, newbie accounts are not speaking from a place of credibility but rather from a place of negative emotions. Some of these newbies may even have old bitcointalk accounts, but are only lashing out their anger on a certain platform as a newbie because they can't backup their claims and are trying to stain the name of this platform on whatever ways they possibly can.
469  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What Aspect of Sports Betting or Casino Gambling Posed a Challenge for You? on: December 12, 2023, 03:19:44 PM
It is mostly in the betting side of things. At first, I don't understand how a parlay works. I know that it multiplies the odds of the games you add to it, but didn't know that you can't put two different betting lines of the same game as bets. It took me a while to figure it out, and I mostly got the answers here on bitcointalk upon reading some of the users' inputs on parlays and betting in general. It has been my favorite type of bet ever since, and I've been trying to add more to the legs of my bet and see how far can I go with parlays.
470  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A hero or a fool? on: December 11, 2023, 07:20:33 PM
This is one of the extreme measures that one could do in order to ensure that they will not set foot on a casino ever again. That doesn't exclude them from offshore casinos though, and it's still within the realm of possibility that they create an account there and play. A lot of gambling platforms are based on Curacao nowadays, and it's really easy to bypass this self-imposed ban if they really want to get that gambling itch scratched.

It's a good move nonetheless. At least he was honest that he was too far down the rabbit hole and wouldn't want to dig an even deeper grave for himself with gambling. Props to him cutting off his ties with gambling and living a completely clean life without degeneracy.
471  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🕹️ Esports 🎮 Prediction & Discussion Thread on: December 11, 2023, 07:17:46 PM
And guys, guess who's back?
News: Chinese Dota 2 legend Ame returns to pro play with Xtreme Gaming

Who is excited to see Ame in the pro scene again? I know that most of the fans here including me wanted him to see reunite with his former gang in LGD. Currently, Xtreme Gaming is just composed of two player, him and DY. For sure that there are arrangements already and we'll need to wait further about their announcement on who are the other three players that will be added to the roster.

Ame has retired for a couple of times now and just comes back to Dota every so often. The guy is restless until he wins that elusive TI trophy. I still watch some of his games every so often and he's still as crisp on pos 1 as he was during his tenure with LGD. I'm not sure whether a complete comeback of the former LGD crew is possible with him joining to Xtreme Gaming. Dy is a good familiar teammate to him, and hopefully Xtreme Gaming posts some good wins at the start of the year leading up to TI.
472  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you wrap up your gambling session? on: December 11, 2023, 07:04:37 PM
I'd rather leave immediately and never come back rather than contemplate on the session and think of things that I could have done differently to score a win. I play for an hour and after that time, I leave - no looking back, no regrets, no contemplation whatsoever. This is way easier since you don't have to think what happen and you can move on for the rest of your day.
473  Economy / Economics / Re: I need financial advice for my careless uncle. on: December 11, 2023, 05:27:50 PM
Keep track of where his money goes and assess whether there are things that could come and go based on what the data looks like. Maybe this may persuade him to let go of all those socializing and extravagance once he finds out that those small expenses per day accrues to a huge number in a month or two.

We often disregard small purchases because we think that it's 'small.' What does a $2 or $3 of beer compared to $5000 anyway? Add that to 10 cans or bottles and you'd still be nowhere near $5000. Though if you look at it, that could easily go towards your gas money or whatever necessity he needs. It might even go to his kids' allowances for the week. Since he doesn't have any data he can easily look at to compare these expenses with, he'll think that he's still good since it's just a small sum anyway.

I myself used to eat out every night because I'm tired after a long day's work. I never really factored in the fact that eating at restaurants or fast food every night will amount to $100 per week, when it could easily be just below $40, and I'd still be eating good and healthy food. After realizing that I'm not saving enough compared to my salary, plus the fact that I live alone and only need to feed and clothe myself, I began keeping track of what I spent, and I'm just surprised that I'm spending $400 a month in a third-world country wherein food shouldn't be this cheap for an individual.

Do not come to your uncle with hostility regarding his situation. Let him see the numbers for himself and he'll easily realize that booze and women cost a lot of money that could have gone to another thing that could help his family.
474  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are you Spending more or less money on Casino this Holiday season on: December 11, 2023, 04:56:55 PM
Lots of marketers actually urge people to spend more during the holiday season. Even casinos have their own tactics in forcing us to spend without even telling us directly to spend. They run these different promotions to lure you in, making you think you're getting insane value off of your money when in reality it's just them trying to tease you off of that 'good deal.'

I'll be spending less this holiday season in gambling, not because I'm trying to save money but rather, I have no time to play anyways. I still hit the casino every now and then when I have the time, but I still don't go over my budget trying to crunch the playing time I can get while I still am not committed to any social gatherings or vacation plans.

Sports betting, perhaps I'll stop it in the meantime as there are no good games anyway, and I can't really keep track of the games due to me traveling often until February.
475  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you believe you can win on sports betting by analyzing a betting lines only? on: December 11, 2023, 05:00:38 AM
In a way, you can do that, but that means you will blindly trust what was served in front of you and not do anything on your end to analyze who you'll be betting with. Though the lines offered by bookies really are the odds of a team to win as observed by other bookies, there are still some minor details that can really help you make a decision on who to bet. Injuries sometimes are not taken into account last minute by bookies, and the only way to know that is to do a little bit of research before locking in your bets. That can make or break a team's game, and you wouldn't know that info based on odds alone.
476  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gamblers should not believe in first game win trap on: December 10, 2023, 05:51:00 PM
No matter how much you try to warn newbie gamblers, they'd still believe that beginner's luck carries on and they are destined to win a lot of games just because they won the first time. Winning something releases feel good hormones which is addicting, and those who can't control these urges tend to chase this feeling because it is already embedded in their brains. It's just like doing something you deem as fun, and because you are enjoying it, you keep on coming back to it.

I guess the best advice is that those who gamble should keep track of how much they spent on gambling and that they take things easy. It's something that will claw through you every now and then and you'll give in because you're feeling lucky.
477  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Has anyone here started with a decent bankroll in sports? on: December 10, 2023, 04:13:33 PM
The most 'decent' bankroll I have had for sports was in The International 2022. I had $500 allocated for that particular event and I had a win-rate of 57% and profited at least $300 as I went hard on the decider match for the finals between Secret and Liquid. After that, I went on and off on sports and just bet on things that I like, and never really had a bankroll to begin with. The most I've bet on recent times is $50, though I've lost it yet I'm still in the greens. Haven't bet on anything since but was glad that I took it easy while I'm still in the positive.

Keeping track of everything in a spreadsheet is nice. Gamblers who are serious to make money off of it should consider creating one for themselves to ensure that they are not spending more than they can really stomach.
478  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Who should quit, and why? on: December 10, 2023, 01:14:34 PM
I'm a product of this kind of familial relationship, and I'll tell you that it's not pretty.

My mom and dad were both gamblers who develop this habit when I was in 3rd grade. At first, they were just spending very minimal amounts in the gambling house and still manage to take us to fancy restaurants and a treat every so often. After a couple of years, both of them started hiding money from each other, up to the point that we're neglected of our needs so long as they can gamble. It was something awful, they never taught us how to gamble, but we know that they do it every night.

The children are the most affected of this setup. They don't know that this is what's happening behind the scenes, and most of the time, they don't know the reason why they cannot go to school or cannot get food that they used to have before. Thankfully, I didn't develop into a gambling addict like them, and I still know how to control my finances. If I were to marry someone, I might give up gambling just because I don't want it to take up time that I could be spending with my family, and not because I'm scared of losing control.
479  Economy / Economics / Re: How to be more effective working remotely. on: December 07, 2023, 11:27:46 PM
I'll be starting to work from home on the first week of 2024  and I'm starting to hate it. While I'm typically not a sociable person, I still find it easier to work in an environment where I see a couple of dudes chatting or doing their work. I opted to work 4 days at home and 1 day at the office just to keep my sanity. Working from home might be comfortable, but it sure does remove productivity when you're someone who's easily distracted by anything. Also, time tends to run a lot slower when you're at home so you'll have to really lock in to your work and exert more effort to be focused on your tasks at hand.

So far, I think the pros outweighs the cons of being at home to work for the common worker, but humans are social beings, and physical interactions are way better than having to chat or video call someone. It will get old pretty fast, and you have to work extra hard to keep your pace steady.
480  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Jamie Dimon said he would close Bitcoin down if he was in government on: December 07, 2023, 10:48:11 PM
Dude's a complete ass when it comes to bitcoin and crypto in general. He's never really changed his stance when it comes to bitcoin, and thinks that it's the only asset that works 'against' the government through money laundering, scams, etc. It's obvious that he'll prefer fiat over bitcoin as this guy is a banker, and a CEO of a large bank at that. Of course, if people were to switch into crypto, he'll be losing his business and he doesn't want that to happen obviously.
