I think I will ring them tomorrow and complain, try and get myself a deal (free month or two).
3  Other / Off-topic / Re: Virgin Media? on: April 18, 2014, 08:57:57 PM
I recently downloaded Bitcoin-QT on my laptop and today I got a call from my ISP (Virgin Media) trying to poke their nose in asking have I recently downloaded large files etc.....

Talk about privacy eh?

I mostly surf the internet, work related stuff.... anyone else have a bad experience with Virgin?

I'm on Virgin and download massive files via filehosts and torrents all the time and have done for years. I cant see why they would ring you because you downloaded the blockchain.

Only thing I can think of, unless watching YouTube videos is stealing all their precious bandwith!

Interesting solutions guys!

Here's another question, how much do you online (Blockchain.info Bitcoin-QT Electrum etc) for spending purposes.

I have some change that I keep online (like $150) just in case I see something that interests me (maybe a overstock purchase etc)

I actually use a $10 phone instead of my iPhone as it's much more easier to fit in my pocket and it's just.... simple?

Tiny flip phone, not having to worry about calling people in my pocket and fits nicely into my jeans without having to look like i have a brick in my pocket.

Smartphones are crap at copying and pasting Bitcoin addresses, never works!

and nothing happened but a rise in the price of Bitcoin.

My $.02.

Wink

I had my tin foil hat on and was waiting for Bitcoin to crash and burn, I wasted a perfectly good toil foil hat because nothing happened!!!

Bury a USB & Paper wallet in the middle of nowhere and write the location on a Pick 4 lottery ticket! (Breaking Bad!)

Seriously tho, burying them in a remote location is your best bet.... or a brain wallet

I am an AWS certified TIG Welder and I have an associate degree in Industrial Technology alas I live in south bend indiana and there are zero jobs out here. I look hard for a job everyday and there's nothing wrong with trying to make more money while I'm doing that. McDonald's is disgusting I bet you eat that shit

Swallow your pride, a few years ago I was in a tough spot and got a minimum wage job to tide me over until I could find something more permanent!

Many posters use an offline computer for cold storage.
I would like to offer a tip for acquiring a dedicated offline machine with minimum cost and hassle.

1. Go on craigslist and look for a cheap used laptop.  If you're patient, you may be able to find one in the $50-$100 range.  Make sure it has a USB port so you can copy files and programs with a thumb drive.

2. Permanently disable both the Ethernet cable port as well as the wifi.  Simply turning this off in windows may not work and may not be safe.  The best way I found to permanently revoke internet access is by deleting the associated driver files from the machine.  To determine the location of the files, first determine what version of windows it has, then perform a google search. For example "where are driver files located on windows 7".  Make sure you're deleting the right driver files though, because you could brick your computer if you delete the wrong ones.  Only delete the drivers for the internet connection! You can save a backup copy of any files you delete, just in case.

3. Enjoy your offline computer!

You can always just remove the wireless card.

I received 0.12 before when it wasn't really a big deal (like 10 bucks) on some forum and the guy PM'd me cussing me out thinking that I wouldn't send it back and sent him the tx id and he never replied back lol...
16  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: IP 162.243.2.142 first came in yesterday, now has 26 blocks ?? on: April 13, 2014, 09:18:56 PM
IP 162.243.2.142 first came in yesterday, and as of now has 26 blocks ??
Every block reward goes to different address ??
A secret mining farm?

They're solo mining with a block erupter, just short term variance!

18  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Whats your wallet balance? on: April 13, 2014, 01:40:46 PM
I have a 10BTC goal in 2014 (check my previous posts). I'm 1/3 of the way there and 9 months to go.

I'm hoping that the price continues to dip. Bought .8 @ 390.

If it goes low enough I'll satisfy my 10BTC goal pretty quickly.

10 BTC seems like a pretty good amount to aim for, good luck€!

About 3Fiddy,

On a serious note, it's like asking someone what their bank balance is.... although I was at the ATM earlier and someone forgot their recite and I looked down and it showed their balance at $3.2M lol in a current account... talk about bad money management. Nearly 0 interest!! maybe they only just got it tho..
20  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will you sell at $10,000? on: April 13, 2014, 11:44:49 AM
If Bitcoin becomes 10K then you probably won't need to "cash out", you could just purchase what you want online with Bitcoin unless you want funds for a start up or something...
