Mods don't have the power to ban, nor can they see PMs. Only admins can and there are so few of them that are active that they're swamped.
That makes sense.
182  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [25+PH] Kano CKPool kano.is 0.9% PPLNS US,DE,SG,JP,NL,NYA on: December 27, 2016, 11:25:20 AM
...
I had enough of that segwit moron who threatened the pool (in PM) - that I still have no idea why the mods didn't ban him
...
I would have thought the mods enforced stricter standards with regards to threats. That is an epic fail.
183  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [25+PH] Kano CKPool kano.is 0.9% PPLNS US,DE,SG,JP,NL,NYA on: December 27, 2016, 09:35:02 AM
I am not 100% sure that your argument is a formal logical fallacy, but it does appear to be akin to the informal logical fallacy known as the red herring fallacy. The chart on bitcoincore.org only shows the number of adopters of SegWit based on previous blocks submitted. It is not possible to logically infer that a non-SegWit block implies a "no" answer. While each block without SegWit could be a "no" answer, it is possible some of those blocks are from people too lazy to update, undecided or confused, simply holding out in an attempt to delay adoption, or with who knows what other reason.

1) I wasn't aware we were adopting formal debate rules in this thread.
2) SegWit requires acceptance (an actual implementation) or non-acceptance; "might", "confused", or "other" are not options.
3) An abstaining vote, from that which requires actual implementation to be a "yes", is still a "no".*
4) "Simply holding out in an attempt to delay adoption" is a "no".*
5) Due to the nature of the acceptance rule (2) any non-"yes" is a "no" (there can be no "maybe" in something that, by definition, requires a hard "yes" or a hard "no").*
6) Because someone's current vote is "no", they are not estopped from later changing that vote to a "yes"; however, a later change does not change the current "no" form current existence.

Any more Ph.D. tests or may we continue the thread? Undecided

*Robert's Rules of Order apply loosely
You said the following:
Logic dictates that any list that "only tells you who said 'yes'" still, in fact, tells you who said "no". If a list of "yes" votes = ~25%, then the other ~75% said "no".
If you invoke logic as an argument, you should actually use it properly.

Bit pointless looking at any list on bitcoincore.org because it obviously wont include those who say no......
Logic dictates that any list that "only tells you who said 'yes'" still, in fact, tells you who said "no". If a list of "yes" votes = ~25%, then the other ~75% said "no".

185  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon A7 announced on: December 20, 2016, 08:48:28 AM
But is ONE controller will fail, in case of Bitmain you lose the hashing power of one miner. But in case of Avalons you lose the hashing power of the whole string/bunch of miners connected to this controller. What is more acceptable for you?
This is one of those six of one and half a dozen of another type examples.
186  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon A7 announced on: December 18, 2016, 03:24:46 AM
I REALLY REALLY love the controller option
Spondoolie had it as well.
I wish bitmain would get off their ass and do the same.
One IP/Control panel for multiple miners would be a heck of a lot nicer than having 12 tabs open lol
Not to mention the possible cost savings regardless of how small it may be.
187  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: December 17, 2016, 11:11:14 PM
My sp is not hashing but all the lights indicate it is working fine. The one line that concerns me is the one that says ethernet link up is full. Any suggestions?

I've got two that have been modded.   They run for about a week then I lose a board.  I turn it off and then on and it  comes back for about a week.  If you're hosting them at home and keep an eye on them, then it's not much of a problem.  This happens only to the modded ones though.
That is not exactly true. Both of my units are unmodded and they only last between 7 and 14 days before requiring a restart due to a board dropout.

try my script in the last page of the modding thread..
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1504228.msg16518866#msg16518866

just change 290000 to 190000 or so.
oh also if yours isnt modded change the starting pwm to whatever you have your fans set to.. 60 or 70 should be ok. also make sure the customize fan speed box is checked for it to adjust the fans to keep the temp between 60-65.
Well, that could work.

Getting 3 in the mail very soon, can someone with one at home tell me the aprox noise level ?

Is it okay for a bedroom, living room or none on those ?

I'm thinking undervolting/clocking one to 2ths for the bedroom, and the 2 other on normal setting in the living room (maybe even a slight OC).

Last, what's the recommended temps ? I'd like to switch fans to S3 fans for the underclocked one in my bedroom but wouldn't like to burn it Smiley

Cheers,
Q.
I find that they are pretty quiet. You could probably keep it in your living room, but it will definitely get hot. I try to keep mine at 58C because boards tend to drop out around 52C.

Yeah for sure. I don't know how much time VH has put into this honestly, but it's been a lot. I've been feeding him raw HEX dumps and kernel logs and he's somehow making enough sense of it to have pretty much completely reverse-engineered how S5s handle chip communications, even some of the hairy particulars. None of the projects discussed in this thread would have gotten very far without his labors.

I understand it's a pain, but maybe updating the original post with data/prices/updates as you go would save a lot of repeat questions? I follow the thread but still miss or forget stuff Smiley
Hassle but may save some time. lol
Concur. Sometimes I miss a few days.  Then, I am left trying to figure out where I left off to see if any important updates happened.

need addnodes. running a full time rpcserver for this crypto now @ 208.180.220.104

addnode=208.180.220.104

Static address will never change.
If anyone has any currently working addnodes lets get this puppy running again!!!!
I am no longer running a node due to lack of interest by the community. I am not sure where this project is at currently. I know that Delinquency returned to the project briefly, but I am not sure in what capacity. I would reference you to the following thread for more information: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=598187.0
194  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: December 06, 2016, 09:40:27 PM
Hey team,

I noticed my S9 today (for a few hours) experienced a drop in hashrate for 1 board. It went from a typical 4600 GH/s down to 1250 for about 3 hours until I noticed. There were no xxx or anything. I restarted the miner and it is hashing like normal again. I will continue to monitor. I've had the miner for about 2 weeks.

Should I be concerned? Do you think the hashboard would have recovered on it's own eventually? Do you think it would have been bad to continue without restarting?

Thanks
I would guess that the temperature of the chips dipped too low. It is a common problem for the S7 as well. You will not usually see any Xs when it happens either.

Great news guys.

Canaan removed BTC service fee.

Hi, thanks for your order again! And, it is great you are helping #growtheblockchain. We have learned from our first week of sales. We removed our BTC service fee moving forward. Let us know when you are ready to place your next order. Thanks again for being one of the first AvalonMiner 721 customers!

Jon

Also, I am getting my miners tomorrow. Wohooo

Ah the joy of buying early  a 25 usd fee lost.
Wow. What an EPIC failure on Canaan's part.
