1  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-06-26] Marshalls Silk Road Coin Auction Ignites Asic Distributor Fire Sale on: June 27, 2014, 09:41:47 PM
This is such a scam. You can easily find much better scrypt miners for much MUCH cheaper than those prices.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN][VOOT] X13 VootCoin - Anonymous Wallet and DarkMarket -NO IPO on: June 01, 2014, 08:40:28 PM
sad, I was hoping to mine this. Will there be a relaunch?
3  Economy / Speculation / Re: This is why Bitcoin is rising so fast... on: May 31, 2014, 02:53:18 AM
Simple answer look at the ALT coins. They just got ASICs and they are trading them in for BTC at a higher volume. Plus news for BTC keeps going around with paypal. Looks like it will be taking a large Turn upward for the next few months... I look forward to it. Think of it like that. Alsothe block chain split will drive it up double what ever we get to this September (hoping 5k we will see)

I can't connect the dots. I don't see how selling altcoins for bitcoin would cause the BTC/USD price to rise. If anything I would think it would lower the price, because half the people selling their altcoins for bitcoin are further selling their bitcoins for fiat. While it is true altcoins have seemed to have taken a dip lately, I expect that dip to turn around when people get bored with their bitcoin investments. Altcoins will be on the rise in the near future.
4  Economy / Speculation / Re: post your average price of buying back in - 2014 ONLY on: May 31, 2014, 02:50:34 AM
I haven't done the exact math, but I've bought a little here and there between 350-620, so average is probably around 500.
5  Economy / Economics / Re: What is the real reason? on: May 31, 2014, 02:49:04 AM
Big names have been adopting Bitcoin transactions due to coinbase such as Overstock and recently Dish Network
Giving Bitcoin to students at MIT definitely helps as well + Budweiser

That is part of it. There has been a lot of positive news surrounding bitcoin lately. More venture capital input. There is talk of Amazon using a payment service that incorporates bitcoin. There are major news articles with financial analysts suggesting bitcoin will be trading in the $2000-$5000 range by the end of 2014. And people are overcoming their FUD realizing that bitcoin is a good investment.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][suc]StarbucksCoin, x11 PoW / Innovative applications coins / May 27 launch on: May 27, 2014, 06:56:46 PM
"Suc" ha! Is this another joke coin? or is someone going to get sued?
7  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-5-25]Report Suggests MtGox Fraud Led to $1200 Bitcoin Price on: May 27, 2014, 06:21:35 AM
I don't buy it. China is not even in the mix in this scenerio, and everyone else seems to agree that it is the Chinese who pushed the price up past $1000.

EtOH to the moon!!
9  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-05-25] Price of Bitcoin Surges Significantly Past $550 This Weekend on: May 27, 2014, 06:17:08 AM
Indeed it does seem this the price is on the upswing now. With BTC it seems like you can usually tell when there is going to be a crash...once ot starts going down hard it won't stop. Similarly we are going up strong now I could see to like $800

Yes, totally on the upswing now. Strong support is set and downtrend has been broken. We are headed back to $1000+
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][RELAUNCH] Yincoin/Yangcoin ☯☯ Destroying Coins|Distributing Coins|Big NEWS on: May 26, 2014, 05:24:38 PM
This coin reminds me of CommunityCoin, but I think YinYangCoin has more potential. I'm impressed with how quickly it seems to be gaining popularity. To keep people from dumping, you should give an incentive to hold, such as a 2nd (or 3rd) payout for those who held their coins.
11  Economy / Economics / Re: Wondered whos pushing BTC price? Here is the answer. on: May 24, 2014, 01:17:08 AM
I'm not convinced. ATM's have been installed in several countries around the world and I have never seen a relatively large price rise as a result. I think people are just realizing that bitcoin is a worthwhile investment in the current buy price.
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SFC] SafeCoin - The Real Safecoin. May Launch on: May 02, 2014, 09:50:38 PM

5.    Pump and Dump Protection:

Wallet Addresses which show a 50% or greater loss of coins (ie., a dump) will experience a greater difficulty level when mining.

Wallet Addresses which show an accumulation of coins (good for the community) will experience a lesser difficulty level.

I am still WORKING on a contract implementation which allows users to lock their coins in long term (and possibly convert to leaps).  If implemented on launch, this will also strongly decrease mining difficulty.

I appreciate your attempt to prevent PnD, but practically speaking, once I had collected a sufficient quantity that I was ready to sell, then I might also be ready to stop mining, and thus I wouldn't care about "increased difficulty" that would come with dumping. Just a thought.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Motocoin - Proof of Thought (human mineable) cryptocurrency. Launch - 20 May. on: May 02, 2014, 09:23:14 PM
I like the idea, but it ultimately means that nerds who snort crank to play the game 24/7 will be the ones holding the majority of the coins. I may be slightly nerdy, but I don't have the time to spend playing games, and I'm going to become meth-head so I can stay up all night playing.
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN][BBTC] BaseBTC | The first BaseCrypt Coin | Guaranteed Value Increase on: May 01, 2014, 01:38:12 AM
I'm confused how you get people to remove their sell orders. For example, if I have 1000 coins that I want to sell for x, are you going to somehow inhibit my ability to sell them, and only allow me to buy instead?
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] YinCoin YangCoin ☯☯ RELAUNCH First Ever POS/POW Alternator! Multipool! ☯ ☯ on: April 30, 2014, 01:31:37 AM

Why did we fail before?
Simple. Giving away coins for free essentially makes them worth nothing. We have not been dormant, we have been working to make these coins relevant and this is how.

I don't think that is why you failed. Just look at Community Coin. All of their coins were given away for free, and they are succeeding fairly well. The communitycoin holders are refusing to sell their coins, and that makes the coin worth something.
16  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Good luck banning Bitcoin/CC's! It's now or never! on: April 30, 2014, 12:44:08 AM
You make good points. Banning bitcoin is like banning gold. No matter how much you try to ban it, it still exists, and will still be traded regardless of the legal status.
17  Economy / Speculation / Re: Above $550 by May the 4th on: April 29, 2014, 11:13:48 PM
Been going down too long:
YOU want to buy BTC, and this is the right time....Don't be afraid.

This is a good point. I think we're probably getting to the end of the FUD and into a bullish phase. The price won't go down forever, especially since more and more businesses are excepting bitcoin and there continues to be more and more promising news on a daily basis. I also say that now is a good time to buy.
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] FacebookCoin FBC - 50M Coins - AIRDROP - BOUNTIES - 0,01% Premine! on: April 29, 2014, 12:32:39 AM
Is this coin legal? The logo looks awfully similar to the Facebook.com logo
If this coin succeeds, then googlecoin, intelcoin, microsoftcoin, boeingcoin, costcocoin, and walmartcoin are the next coins to be released, right?
19  Economy / Speculation / Re: Poll: Will FinCEN or the federal government kill btc? on: April 28, 2014, 11:51:56 PM
My guess is that the central bankers will want to try to kill it and may even pay politicians to pass laws against it. But the federal government already seems to have ideas about how to make money off bitcoin (mainly through taxes). My gut says that neither will succeed in killing bitcoin, and I think the govt will let it thrive.
20  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy on weekend or Monday? on: April 28, 2014, 09:14:04 PM
I'm not sure if you already bought, but if you want in the market, this is how you do it:
1) Buy some bitcoin now at a price of 450 (for example 0.5 BTC)
2) If price goes down to 400, then buy another 0.5 BTC (or 1BTC)
3) If price goes to 350, then buy 2 BTC
4) If price goes to 300, buy more
5) If price goes to 100, buy 10 BTC.

Pretty simple really.
