21  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: bitHopper: Python Pool Hopper Proxy on: August 09, 2011, 10:09:04 PM
So, I know I asked this before but still confused...what do I put on that editable payout line? what payout exactly? Do I keep updating it, seems like it would be a pain....

It is.

ti is a tiny  easier for people with a log of hashes and big payouts.

maybe one day we can scrap the reward data and put it in their for you.. er rather c00w can.. (lol we) but that looks like a huge job in itself.

maybe we can get teh btc-poolwatch guy to lend a hand.. as he has gotten a  good bit of that job done.

I don't think that this is actually worth the effort. I just collect payouts every week, sum them up and calculate my overall efficiency.

23  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Pool share probability simulation on: August 09, 2011, 08:59:02 PM
Just a followup: if the probability distribution were Poission, shouldn't there be a very small variance with the huge number of shares?

See e.g.: http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=poisson%281800%29

It's not exactly easy to extract dates from these charts: http://bitcoincharts.com/charts/mtgoxUSD#rg5zig5-minzvztgSzbgBza1gWMAzm1g2za2gWMAzm2g5zxzi1gVolzi2gUO

You know when you are bitcoin miner when...

This.
26  Bitcoin / Pools / Pool share probability simulation on: August 09, 2011, 08:20:54 PM
I should really know this myself, but I can't wrap my head around it.

The probability of a share finding a block is 1/difficulty, right? (So that on average there are 'diff' shares per block.)

Now, what probability distribution does this lead to? (It can't be pure Gauss...) Poisson?

And furthermore, if I want to do some simulations, how do I generate random "total shares" so that they follow such a distribution?

Thanks!

This would also have made you buy on Aug 03, losing money.
28  Local / Deutsch (German) / Re: unbedingt auf 0.3.24 updaten!! on: August 09, 2011, 07:24:20 PM
ganz ehrlich, hier dazu meine Meinung:

If we could get deepbit to change from proportional to empps or something similar it would be amazing. I'm sure they will just degrade their LP responses though...

Wait, what? I thought deepbit was on PPS. (No matter I don't get how you hop them. ^^)

So if they are on prop, why didn't we hop before? No stats?

Is slush's website down for everyone?

Why is btcmine in the new config, they seem to be using a score based system: http://btcmine.com/page/faq/#rewardcalc (@paraipanakos, joulesbeef)?

bad news for me - I think to have to leave bithopper  Sad
as I come today to my PC I see that no Internet connection is for a few hours... Angry
I believe that the network traffik is to big for me (I have 20 GB/month) and in 8 days this volume is over (I have done not much another in net - therfore it must have been the traffik of bithopper...)
Is there any way to make it less traffic?
(I'm now with another acount here because volume for this month is over...)
TIA

Have you actually measured the traffic it produces?
33  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: bitHopper: Python Pool Hopper Proxy on: August 09, 2011, 03:49:49 AM
If you are hopping pools with low hashing power, slicing reduces your variance.

I for one am not hopping micro pools at all. You are basically beta testing those pools. Also, there might always be a pool op making a run for it after the first block.
34  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: bitHopper: Python Pool Hopper Proxy on: August 09, 2011, 03:06:13 AM
@GenTarkin: old one doesn't slice, it just (more or less) stays at the pool with the lowest share count.

@djex: slicing has only been around for so long. Give it some time to kill the variance. Smiley

Same goes for ozcoin I guess. Smiley

Btw, do we actually know if the 10% slush mining will work out?

I did some heavy work on the pool status site on the wiki to make it more readable and up to date. Any help is appreciated.
38  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: bitHopper: Python Pool Hopper Proxy on: August 08, 2011, 10:33:03 PM
The update interval could be dynamically increased on small pools with slowly changing stats.

This probably needs a few lines of code though.
39  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: bitHopper: Python Pool Hopper Proxy on: August 08, 2011, 10:00:12 PM
So does this mean bclc is safe to mine on now?

Yes and no.

I dont know if they are still delaying stats.  If they are, you will still come out ahead on most rounds but efficiency is not going to be fantastic.  If they are not delaying stats, then yes its pretty safe to mine on.

Also, the owner of the pool has not been kind to miners.  I am going to mine them but constantly keep an eye on whether they are gaming stats or not.

Does anybody have new data on this? Is bclc still delaying stats?

Also, is BTC Guild still delaying stats?

a form of proportional scoring for calculating a fair payout of your shares.

That pretty much kills it.  Sounds like a score method to me

Could still mean classic proportional though.
