Hmm, would the connection issues/possible DDoS cause the statistics page to show that I have no reward for the last block, even though I had two workers with 300+ shares each?

Yeah, can't connect to slush's pool atm myself. :-(

I've been reading some posts on overclocking forums that the 11.7 drivers aren't too stable yet. Hopefully they get the bugs worked out soon, and make an official release.

These would be great for an open case arrangement, but with an enclosed system you'll have to be careful about having both intake and exhaust being similar configurations or you'll burn out fans.

I couldn't find any specific solution for this issue, I'm using GUIMiner, and running two 5850 cards, and I'm getting nearly 100% cpu core usage on core 1, if I uncheck cpu affinity on both, then I get nearly 50% usage across all four cpu cores!
Help!

So, I just got two 5850 cards, and want to try them out, to make sure they work okay.
How would I go about making them both work without using crossfire? My current setup is two monitors, one is dvi and the other is hdmi. Do I just connect one monitor to each card? Will it work with a dvi/hdmi setup, or will I need to get a dvi to hdmi adapter?
I'm lost on this.

Depending on the 6950 you get, with overclocking the gpu and underclocking the memory you can get 400Mh/s. My XFX 6950 with stock bios/unlocked shaders is currently running at 910/625 at 1.175V and I get ~401Mh/s So, yeah, the 6950's are nice cards.
|
|
|
Hmmm, that MSI 890-FXA-GD70 board looks nice. I might have to go with that one. ;-)
Thanks.

|
|
Well, thanks to a wonderfully helpful post about MSI Afterburner, I went back to the stock bios, unlocked the shaders and have the card running at 910/625 at 1.175v and I'm getting a stable ~400Mh/s now. Might try for 915 and see if it's as stable.
Temps stay around 72-75c with the fans at most 58% in a closed case. They even drop below 70c at night. :-)
Much better using the stock 6950 bios and MSI afterburner letting me use higher core settings.

Maybe because for the price of just the processor/MB you posted I can get an AMD sempron, a full size ATX MB, 2GB ram AND a PSU?
|
|
|
Pretty sure this is the wrong place for this, but, it's the best I could find. Move if necessary.
I was just wondering if there was any way to display the current shares, Mh/s and confirmed/unconfirmed balance for my pool miners with the screen on my G13 keyboard?

Oh, God, why couldn't I find this BEFORE I flashed my 6950 with a 6970 bios?!?!? Thanks for this, I'll probly go back to the stable 6950 bios and tweak from MSI. Much appreciated.

Hello again.
I was hoping to get some suggestions from those with a bit more experience than I for a cheap/stable MB/processor combo to use with a pair of 5850 cards?
This rig will most likely be setup either in an old case I have laying around, or totally caseless. I plan on going without HD or optical drive, just boot from a usb thumbdrive.
Preferably I would like to be able to control it completely remotely from my main rig, say Damn Small Linux with persistence accessed via ssh/vpn.
I have some old DDR2 ram laying around from older rigs, so DDR2 on the MB would cut some initial cost. I can also scare up a 550w power supply, though I'll probly have to use molex to PCIe converters to power the cards.
Thanks for your time.

My bad, edited the post. heh

an easy thing to try is to just add the WORKSIZE=128 flag
BTW, it's not necessary to jack up the core too high to hit 300Mh/s, I'm running a 6950 with a 6970 bios at 900/1250 with the voltage at max 1200 and I get 385Mh/s using phoenix and around 397Mh/s with guiminer. Both within Win7
Edit:
Phoenix ver 1.5 running phatk Device=0 VECTORS WORKSIZE=128 BFI_INT FASTLOOP AGGRESSION=11
Guiminer is July 1 version
Edit 2:
6950 flashed to 6970, doh!

it's the 69xx series opencl "glitch".
any program "tapping" the video card while it is mining will lock up the system.
somethings like flash, can have video acceleration turned off. other programs, do not have an option to leave your card alone when they open and will lock up the system.
say, opening gpu-z while you're mining, that'll do it.
'monkey
Yeah, noticed the issue with opening GPU-z while mining, so I open it before I start, to keep an eye on the temps while mining. Guess I only mine with this rig while it's not being used.

Hello, pretty new to this bitcoin thing, and the GPU tweaking that goes along with mining for it.
I have been playing around with the XFX 6950 card I have in my gaming rig.
2GB ram, stock core 840/1250 with two monitors, 24" 1080p and 21" 1280/1024 Win7 pro 64bit
I have flashed it with an XFX 6970 bios which opens up a bit more range, along with the extra shaders.
Playing around, I have found that 900 is about as high as I can get and keep the system stable. Pretty sure I'm missing something here, since I'm not too confident in my overclocking knowledge.
905/1250 gave me a stable system with about 360-365Mhash/s without any flags
900/1250 gives me a stable system(so far, 3 hours in) with the voltage bumped to 1.175 I get ~397Mhash/s with -v -w128 set
One problem I have, though, while mining I can not view ANY video at all, or the whole system freezes, and I have to reboot.
Few questions:
What if any flags should I be using within GUIminer? Should I be using another miner?
I understand boosting the core of the gpu= more Mhash/s, what affect if any does modifying the memory core have, up or down?
Is it possible to get a 6950 bios that allows core speeds of 900 for this card? If so, where? I tried looking around, and couldn't get one to let me go over 880.
I have MSI Afterburner, and even with that couldn't get the GPU core over 880 without having to flash the 6970 bios. :-(
Thank you for taking the time to read this.

GUIminer is quite easy to use/setup
|
|
|
The whole reason I registered was to ask about GUIminer flag suggestions for my XFX 6950 that I flashed to XFX 6970 bios.
The newbies forum isn't really the place for that, so Either I wait the 4 hours, and possibly continue mining uneconomically, or get released to the wild, and ask in the proper forum. ;-)
I don't particularly mind random, meaningless posts, just prefer to spend my time wisely in forums like this. Up to you, I guess.
