Btg can be successfully extracted by importing your bitcoin private key into a wallet that can extract btg, provided you have btc in the corresponding private key of the btg block.

Not correct.

You do NOT need BTC in the address in order to extract your BTG.   Moreover, I specifically tell people prior to sending me the private keys that they move the BTC and BCH to another address first.  This way, there is no worry that I could possibly take those coins from them.

Recap - Move your BTC and BCH to other addresses prior to claiming the BTG.
343  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Splitting Bitcoin into Bitcoin Gold in Electrum wallet - how to? on: November 25, 2017, 09:47:33 AM
It's worth your time to check your addresses that contained a balance on 10/24 and import those into coinomi.  Just did it myself for a couple of people.
More importantly, move out your BTC and BCH first.

I already moved my BTC out, with the intention of sweeping my BTG keys into Coinomi. Then I went to download the app -- Android only. I only have IOS phones and an old Windows phone (pre Windows 10, so can't run Android apps).

So I guess I'm shit outta luck.....

Somebody should make a MEW clone so people can push BTG transactions given their private keys. Hell, the BTG devs really should have hired someone to fork Electrum!

Coinomi works.  I can verify that.

You're not shit out of luck.   You could send me the private keys (since you moved your BTC and BCH out, and I can get and move them for you.
or
You can get an android device to do it.
or
You can do it via a chrome addon and install the app.

Interesting. Well, getting an Android device sounds like overkill. But the other options sound doable. Sending you a PM now! Smiley

Done.  Smiley

Of course, the main reason that most of us make mistakes is because we are not familiar with wallets. I would recommend that in order to get BCH, BTG, BCD users to put BTC deposits in the exchange, such as binance and Hitbtc, and the withdrawal fee is very low, they will help us to solve all this without our own hands .

And risk the exchanges going down, being hacked, or an issue while you send to them?  No way.
Also, most exchanges don't give you the split coins either.  Just think, coinbase isn't going to give you the bitcoin cash until Jan 1st.   So, you miss all that opportunity for months.

I think the best thing you can do is learn before you make a move, and use hardware wallets.

Then, go download coinomi, and add bitcoin gold, then scan the QR code.

Then you should receive your BTG, you can convert it using changelly/changenow.

Coinomi only works on Android phones. Are there any other options to sweep private keys?

No others that are considered 'safe' at this time.

Even bitcoingold.org download is immediately killed by virus scanners.  Hard to trust the site anyway after they recommended a site which ended up stealing a lot of money.

It is indeed a scam website (a pretty obvious one).

https://www.reddit.com/r/btc/comments/78yc03/psa_warning_there_is_a_site_called_getbtcgpuorg/

Be careful when suggesting websites to Newbies.

Meanwhile, this one is open source and looks to be legit[1]. Just download the source, disconnect from the internet and run locally.
(P.s: You can't use it yet, since Bitcoin Gold isn't live)

[1] https://github.com/John-Dass/btcgpuwallet

You report a scam website by indicating the use of another scam site.  Smiley

John-Dass is probably a moniker for John Dumb Ass.

The website is down and the github removed after the 3+ million dollar theft.

so sad i missed 7 of the airdrops, i really believe in gbytes potential but am stuck with mere crumbs

I missed the first 6..... But, you can still buy now before it's too late.
Quite possibly in the future, people will be saying.... Damn, I missed out on byteball when it was under $300.   Smiley    Never know.
349  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: November 23, 2017, 05:21:38 AM
I just wish i understood how blck bytes worked it bit better, I get  its anonymous but is there a reason it cant go on exchanges?

It is already on some decentralized bot store exchanges. Why black bytes are not listed on CoinMarketCap is beyond me. I feel this is absurd as blackbytes are one of the only truly fungible coins existing.

Is there no records of Blackbytes on network? Can Blackbytes be used by hackers?
I first spent a Blackbyte, and What will happen when I restore the full backup?

No, there is no explorer for Blackbytes (Ergo privacy).  Sure, anyone can use blackbytes.
If you spend all or a part of your blackbytes and then recover your wallet to a point prior to spending the bytes, your wallet will show the prior amount; however, you now have a corrupted balance.  When you do this, you will lose more than just the part you spent and likely lose access to all your blackbytes.   If/When you do this, you will end up sending your wallet to someone like me to recover what can be possibly recovered.  I have done this for many people; however, I have basically stopped, because it's not worth my time.  I have to admit how cheap people are in that they are willing to spend many hours of time trying to recover $20 especially when it's someone elses time.  Smiley

So..... Don't do a recovery after an amount has been spent.   Hint:  Make a backup each time you make a Blackbyte transaction so that you're totally safe from loss.   Smiley

Here's basically what you need to do about Byteball:

  • get some Byteball
  • wait for many months before the world realizes what Byteball really is and can do
  • ?? ??
  • profit!!!
Well wouldnt it at least make sense to add join airdrop to your list? Cheesy else you gonna miss some of your profitd

That was included in step 1.

I think a shift in the strategy is always in order. I also think there should be better ways to attract more users and grow the community of supporters, airdrops are not a smart way to do it in the longer term.

Agreed
351  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: November 22, 2017, 11:42:20 PM

And now the fools that come in claiming it's bad that whales get all the money without even considering what they're saying.
Someone with 16BTC (yes $130k) is not likely to care about $23 worth of byteball.  If you really think that is their motivation, you're really lacking.
A Whale would simply purchase a GB at $250 and get the 10% bonus instead of hoping his $130k would get him $23.

Your logic here seems reasonable. Still: the top 10 Byteball linked BTC addresses represent ±200.000 BTC combined: http://transition.byteball.org
This translates to 1250 GB airdropped Byteball. That's still quite a lot for the market to swallow if it would be sold in a short period of time.

The merchant cashback program is great though and I'm very curious about the new additional distribution method coming in December.

If I was so deep in the crypto world to have $1.64billion, then getting $312k from my ability to store that much should be entitled.
Meaning, if I had 1.64billion in coin means I'm obviously the type of person that believes in crypto and I should be trusted to handle cryptos far more than the average joe blow.

I find the people mostly complaining about not getting more 'free' coins are those that simply want to dump it.  They don't help the system, they simply make it worse.
(NOT saying that you're that type of person.)  I admit, I am not that great for byteball either in that I haven't bought any; however, I also haven't sold any (although I've given several away and I've helped many people with their wallets).

I am interested in the merchant program as well.  I hope it expands.

having a similar error (error removing unstable units ) in my wallet i have only blackbytes in that wallet i can use the full backup with no risk of losing the coins ?

No, using a full backup that is before coin movement is an issue.
Meaning.... If you have 10GBB, make a backup, then spend 2GBB, then restore your backup to show you have 10GBB will not resolve a problem.  It simply makes it worse and more difficult to try to recover what might be possible.

Also, you can move or attempt to move any GBB without having any regular GB in order to pay for the fees.

So many people just coming here because they want free money, its really time to move away from the airdrops

Agreed.

I renamed the directory with the wallet and everything and then I have reinstalled the client, did a full restore and let it the whole night to synchronize but in the morning I have found it stuck with the same error. Now I start to get worried. I had mostly blackbytes in that wallet, but nevertheless...

Send me the wallet.

For every 16 BTC you receive 0.1 GB,
For every 1 GB you receive additional 0.1 GB,

seems its expensive i miss the balls   Sad

Nope, it didn't cost you a thing.  Smiley

After updating the windows full wallet now the new one doesn't work any more. I'm getting the error message: "Uncaught exception: Type Error: Cannot read properly 'IndexOf' of undefined."
So now what?

Haven't seen that, but....
move the wallet to another folder.  start up the client and then do a full restore.

You DID make a full restore before upgrading to the new watter, rite?

how I can calculate how many byte - btc - dollar I can receive with each airdrop?

Windows calculator
iPhone calculator
Android calculator

However, it will not work to show you a dollar value in the future (I would love to have such a device), and there are not future airdrops currently planned.

Great Michail1 thank you for the promptly reply. I have few question Smiley I hope you can reply!
Where I can find these calculator? (official site?)
Can you give me please any link?
There are some "online" service, ready to use?

C:\Windows\system32\calc.exe
use in combination with www.coinmarketcap.com

Do you think we have already found the bottom or is there still room for falling?

Always room to fall and to go up.   Love to see both.  Smiley

Any idea why at last airdrop I only got byteball GB but not blackbytes? This is my address: DOSUPQOXZAZINAHTIWR3MOWKCA5LG25T.

Also, I tried to update my wallet on linux and now, when I start the applciation I get something like: Your profile can not be used beacuse it is from a newer version of NW.js. Some features may be unavailable.

Because you were using an old version of the app (1.10 or prior) and you upgraded.
So, upgrade to the latest (v1.11.5) and then delete all files (but not the subdirectories) in ~/.config/byteball/Default
Obviously make a backup first.  The popup error is really a warning though.

Once you upgrade, try again.  If you still have the problem with blackbytes, then PM me and I will help ya.

Is there any market or exchange where i can sell blackbyte and get good value of it Huh

Use the Bots within the app.  There are a few of them.
Good value?  You probably got them for free, so anything over $0.00 is a good value.  Smiley

Add https://cryptochangex.com/ to that list.

I just copy/pasted from Byteball.org    Guess the site needs to be updated.  Smiley

"You can also trade on Bittrex, Cryptox, Cryptopia, Changelly, and Bitsquare exchanges."

I demand BIGGER pictures!!!! Cheesy

But Episking-'s camera is small.   Smiley

I request he take the coin out of the case and touch it with fire (I mean fingers).   I mean, having episking-'s fingerprint would drive up the value, rite?
