Are there concerns btw that is coin is used for illigal purposes? I don't want that

Everything is used for illegal and legal purposes.   So, something like byteball (although unlikely right now) still could be used as such.... Just like Bitcoin, Gold, and most importantly... cash.

If people can use something for 'illegal' purposes, they will.

I know the distribution is on the 9th, but when will the "screenshot" of the blockchain done for the byteball airdrop?

What's been done in the past is the first bitcoin block after the full moon UTC time.

But, there is a wait just to make sure there isn't a reorg on a bad bitcoin block / chain split issue.

Payment is typically within 24 hours; however, you can move your bitcoin when you feel like it during that time.

With so much GB added to market I expect price to go down slightly!

I would like to buy cheap bytes too, the problem is that some people linking their BTC finally want to buy more bytes and the price stays high.

The price appears to ramp up slightly before each drop as people buy more to get the bonus.
And, the price drops right after as those people may sell some off, but more likely because of all the people that are in it just to get free money and dump.

With the bonus so high, I think it helps in that most people want to keep making more money.  The power of compound interest is great.

As i understood, 7th dealing out will take place soon. I wonder how many in total will be made and if we joined once with an address already, can we participate again with the same address. Little information will be appreciated. And one last question... Is Blackbyte going to be in a market soon? After all, this would be the real progress for the developement of the project as being added on a market is the best marketing you can do.

Just make sure that you don't make the mistake of linking your bitcoin address to a different byteball address again. Then both byteball addresses won't receive the air drop. All linkages you made during previous rounds are valid.

Well, maybe.

From what I understand....
If you link BTC addy to Byteball address A via Sig, and then link the same BTC addy to Byteball address B via Sig, it will be fine to address B.
or
If you link BTC addy to Byteball address A via TX, and then link the same BTC addy to Byteball address B via Sig, it will be fine to address B.

The issue to get the BTC basically ignored is if you try to link the BTC addy via TX to two different Byteball addresses.  Via SIG takes on the prior two above examples.

is this thing even working ?

old version doesn't "catch" browser link.  Sad
new current version doesn't understand "appdata" from old version. and tries to fully re-sync light wallet with network  Sad   (maybe i done something wrong with appdata backup)
anyway....

-restored appdata backup for old version
-used new version inside virtual machine ... created new light wallet there
-send money from old (restored version and restored wallet) to new version that have new wallet (transaction got confirmed in like 12 minutes).... but wait....
-new version still have "0"  bytes. around 20 minutes passed still 0 for some reason.
i'm 100% sure that i used correct address in old version to send bytes to new one.

... still 0

Yes, it works.
But, we can't help/check if you don't give us the address(es).

Did you check on the explorer if the GB is still in the old address or if it moved to the new address?
Tell us the address and we can check for ya.

Byteball's distribution model could be a great topic for a game theory study.

yes this is very interesting. i regret not knowing about byteball in the very early stages. the distribution is like that old coin CLAM where you get coins based on your BTC, DOGE and LTC wallet holdings. i am saving up some btc for the next distribution. does anyone know the exact time the next snapshot will be taken? thanks and good luck to all participants!

Actually, no.
Byteball distribution is way better in that it is based on your holdings and clam was simply a distribution of a set amount for no matter how many coins you had in an address as long as it had more than 0.00000001   So, you could have had effectively nothing in each wallet and scored a large amount of clams.

Haven't sync'ed my wallet for a 1month, seems it takes forever to get sync'ed... performance is an issue!

Yes, but you don't have to run a full node and can switch to a light wallet which syncs in a few seconds.

You dont' need a full wallet for an average use. Switch to a light wallet.

How to switch to a light wallet? Is it a different wallet or is it done in the full one?

The best, easiest, and only way that I know of is:
close the client, rename the directory, and restart the client.
- This will create a new wallet and you select light.  Then you copy both the byteball and blackbyte wallet addresses.

Then, close client, rename the new wallet directory, then rename the original back to byteball.  Start the client.
Then transfer the coins to the new addresses you recorded earlier.

Ok, close client, rename folder to whatever, and rename the new wallet back to byteball.  Start the client and see the byteballs have been transferred to your new light wallet.

528  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Casascius 2011 Error UNGRADED in Ebay $10,000.00 on: June 14, 2017, 06:25:27 AM

The bigger scam from years ago was people buying these coins, redeeming the stores bitcoin value and sending it back to the seller - that is the bigger risk from ebay.

Nothings changed.  That risk alone is enough, don't you think?

People claim they didn't get it even if the post office says it was delivered.
People claim the package was empty.
People claim the coin wasn't loaded
People claim all kinds of stuff.

And, if it was 'lost', then you have to prove the box contained a valuable item.  Show receipts, etc.  9 weeks later, your claim is denied.

eBay has no risk if the seller loses the money.
529  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Casascius 2011 Error UNGRADED in Ebay $10,000.00 on: June 14, 2017, 05:14:42 AM
Its really risky selling on EBAY, alot possible bad and fucked up scenarios what buyer can done.

Only possible prevent: ship after 90 days

Don't kid yourself.  Paypal is 180 days.

And the limit of most TXes is $5k.  So, he has to do it in 3 transactions.

Let's be honest, no one will pay that much (Fiat).

Linked 130 GB and 45 BTC this round. Received proper amount of bytes but NO blackbytes, tried contacted tony on slack to no avail Sad

Try harder and be patient, Tony is very busy. Seems to be that some guys don't have received their Blackbytes yet. For some guys it worked to leave the wallet running in the foreground, suddenly the Blackbytes appeared (the send tx will be automatically repeated).

Agreed.

First distro, I remember I was going to ask about it and while typing in my post, the blackbytes magically appeared as if 'someone' was watching.
Leave the wallet open to make sure it syncs.

No one here can really help with Blackbytes since they are basically untraceable.  Gotta have a dev/Tony look into it.  Very busy dude, especially at moon times.  Smiley

Well it seems it was the other way around, the Bitcoin were sent from that address to two other "internal" addresses of the Core wallet. I'm no Bitcoin expert it seems  Cheesy Anyway, I have now activated the coin control feature in the core wallet and can see in which addresses the unspent BTC are located.

I have also been able to link all my addresses with unspent BTC to the Byteball wallet and should be good to go for the next distribution...

Phew...

EDIT: Oh and thanks for the help!

Smiley

No problem.  I welcomed the test in finding out what happened.

Just remember that if you use your coins, then change may go to another address.  Maybe just wait until the next airdrop is about to happen and make sure your coins are in registered addresses.  Smiley
532  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: June 13, 2017, 08:36:48 PM

I have dug a bit more and it seems on on 6/5 I sent all BTC internally in Bitcoin Core from two of my addresses to a third addess of my Core wallet that I previously linked in Byteball (16KyMEmTcPqDbYa7CCARsgeo5ajNeB1GjD). I wanted to consolidate all the BTC in one address I think.

Now the BTC appear as change in my wallet but aren't visible outside on a Blockchain explorer. Well that sucks.

I guess I'll have to send the BTC to another wallet and back to Bitcoin Core just so that the BTC become visible again. DAMN.

16KyMEmTcPqDbYa7CCARsgeo5ajNeB1GjD is and was empty.

You may have your bitcoin still, but not in either of the 2 addresses you have linked.

Resolution:
1) Link the third address
or
2) Move the coins to one of the 2 addresses you do have linked.

So is there a way to trade blackbytes?

Read the OP (First post on the first page).

(uhhh, yes.   slack or DM)

Hi Michail,

So I backed up my wallet on an older PC, then installed on a new PC and restored the wallet there. Deleted on the older PC. I didn't receive any Byteballs this round, even though my BTC were previously linked on the older PC. Is this normal?

No.

What's the BTC or Byteball account you had linked so we can check it?

I'll give you the info this evening, I'm at work right now.

No problem.

It's likely that you moved your BTC or that your wallet isn't synced yet when you looked.

If you post the address in the channel, then anyone can really look it up for you.  I just might go a step further.  Smiley

So the receiving address is RRHSXWHIBYABIYWGHSBD3SOKOJ74RWBQ. Can you have a look? Thanks!

RRHSXWHIBYABIYWGHSBD3SOKOJ74RWBQ

All Bytes spent/moved as of 5/31
- Empty byteball wallet

Two bitcoin addresses associated with that wallet:
18MwM7r25bg9hdFD5nuHRennR2avF7rDH9 confirmed via Signature
- Empty as of 2017-04-15 14:23:33
So, nothing in that bitcoin wallet for the 5/10 or 6/9 distribution.

and

16KyMEmTcPqDbYa7CCARsgeo5ajNeB1GjD confirmed via TX
- Empty as of 2017-06-05 09:05:17
So, nothing in the wallet for the 6/9 distribution.

Basically, you got nothing, because the two addresses you have confirmed were empty for the 6/9 airdrop.

Also, you don't get the 20% because your byteball wallet was also empty for the 6/9 drop.

Also how about we change Gbyte to Byte..

Gbyte are too expensive?

let's change to Byte ?

You don't have to buy a whole GByte, just like you don't have to buy a whole Bitcoin.
536  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: June 13, 2017, 05:35:42 PM
what happened?

byteball should be top10 soon!

The standard monthly Full Moon people dumping their free coins for money.  The same people that come back weeks later and wish they kept everything as the price exceeds the prior months distribution.
537  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: June 13, 2017, 04:44:23 PM
Will there be a change in units as byteball grows? Displaying the price of 1gb might look odd when it's worth more than 2000d$ for example.

This can already be done in the wallet.

Go to settings -> Unit for bytes

You have the option of bytes, kB, MB, GB

Right under that is the ability to do that for Blackbytes as well.

538  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: June 13, 2017, 02:27:18 PM
Could the two of you keep the bickering off thread or start your own thread?

It would be awesome to read content about byteball instead of the constant posts about the arguing and betting and scammer issue.

At least the test of DAG was on topic and potentially helpful.  All the rest is just words on trying to one up each other.  The thread is so full of the rest that people don't want to read the actual content (let alone the very first post), and in so, keep asking the same questions over and over again. Typically.. "How do I get my free money?" and "Why didn't I get more free money?"

edit:  Nevermind, ignore works.

When is scheduled the next distribution ?

Read the first page (the very first post).
