1541  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin or gold? on: January 28, 2017, 09:26:39 PM
If you had to convert all your wealth to either Bitcoin or gold and keep it there for 10 years, which would you choose? Keep in mind the fact that Bitcoin has only been around for 5 years, and could be fundamentally different in any number of ways in 10 years.

I certainly would choose bitcoin, but with bitcoin records may be used for investment should not only be kept until a certain time, certainly bitcoin will be more beneficial when compared to gold
I would prefer to diversify, but probably most of the investment would be made in Bitcoin. Both Bitcoin and gold are good ways to store value, but Bitcoin is capable of something that gold can not do, which is the ability to be sent over the internet easily and in a decentralized way. I think that makes things a lot easier.

Yeah bitcoin is far better then gold as an investment and the best thing about bitcoin is it can be sent or received across the globe and if you have good skills you can also earn them without making any investment which is never possible with gold and bitcoin can also give us huge profits in future comparatively gold is stable and profits would be limited upto a certain extent.

I have given my small office to a bank on rent for their ATM machine and every month I get a cheque from bank which is passive income for me as I don't have to work on it and at the end of the month get rent for my office so I am planning to buy some more offices and give them for a rent from where I can generate regular passive income.

Did you have a series of small stakes come in right as your wallet went out of sync? We have been helping people with sync issues in Slack and it seems that sometimes the client starts staking before it is synced and ends up on its own fork. It could be an issue with POS itself, not just with XC. Regardless, Dan is aware of the issue and working on a fix.

Unfortunately, the only solution after it happens is to delete everything but your wallet.dat and start over. Transfer your wallet.dat to your desktop or some other folder for safe keeping. Then delete the /AppData/Roaming/XCurrency folder and re-install the wallet and resync the blockchain. It is very likely that you will need to exit the client and relaunch it several times as it redownloads the blockchain. It is not uncommon for it to stall out.

I had this happen to me also.  After deleting the files and letting the wallet sync, I had to run the "repairwallet" command in the debug window to get back the coins that were staked without being synced.

This can be done in the debug console in your wallet. Open your wallet and go to Help >> Debug Window >> Console and type in "repairwallet" without the quotes.

of course, it is clear that Blocknet is very beneficial to XCurrency, u don't  need to waste ur time to demonstrate with pictures!  Grin
just look at the price evolution how it's nice!  Angry

Please explain to me how you can be down 170%.  If you want to make a point at least be able to figure out that you can't be down more than 100%.
in caricatural case off course u can be down -1000% just like now!

Caricatural - A representation, especially pictorial or literary, in which the subject's distinctive features or peculiarities are deliberately exaggerated to produce a comic or grotesque effect.

I guess you hit the grotesque criteria.  A grotesque display of math skills.

And BTC, before you freak out, understand that the #1 address is the burn address and the other top addies are probably exchanges.

You mean my block address from bittrex or my wallets address?

Did you buy Block from coingateway?  If not, no discount for you.

If yes, tell them the receiving address you generated when buying block from their website.

So no discount for those who buys on bittrex ITO? Why is that?

This is all explained in the initial ITO rules that came out before the ITO started.  Go read them.

Fill out a support ticket on coingateway

The only BLOCK still unburnt is about 5 BTC worth at CoinGateway.
It's reserved for outstanding payments of discounts.
Customers have 3 days to claim their discounts.
CoinGateway will burn its remaining BLOCK on Friday.

Better spam that on every other page because if you don't, you know the cry babies will come out and say they didn't know and weren't told about it.   Grin

There is a sell wall in Polo of 7.62329923BTC @ 0.00025000. Is that from the original ITO Huh

No. Of course not.

This is called trading. You basically have pressure on the wall to force weak hands to sell cheap. If they wanted to dump "big", they would have already...

Exactly.  It would take less than 6 BTC to drop the price down to 0.0001.  For market manipulators, 6 BTC is chump change.

...Unfortunatelly I naively expected Blocknet team to sacrifice some funds to stabilize price.

The shills and trolls would have a field day if the Blocknet team ever did that with the ITO funds.

A lot of talk here about mining and staking; I thought it was mentioned somewhere that staked or mined coins will not count, only tokens that have been purchased can be exchanged for shares. Can someone from the blocknet team clarify this. Thanks.
Yes, this needs to be clarified. I understood that the tokens we get from staking are just as valid as those purchased in the ITO, and the devs would destroy tokens so that the overall number does not increase.

If thats the case then whats the point of staking ..........someone NEEDS to clear this up asap  Angry

The only staked coins that were destroyed were ones during the ITO.  BUT, it was just the total number of staked coins that were burned.  They didn't come out of individual people's wallets.  Dev burned an equivalent amount of coins so that the number of staked coins DURING THE ITO was offset.  ANY coins staked AFTER the ITO was finished are VALID.  IMO.

I just noticed something weird while staking with wallet. Apparently I ''mined a block '' however in the transactions tab it says ''Generated but not accepted mined''
Is it possible to have orphan blocks in POS?
PS. I have been staking normally the past week, just noticed the instance a few mins ago.

Yes you get orphaned blocks in PoS.

It's an analogous situation to PoW: part of the network accepts one version of the chain, and your newly mined (and un-matured) block is on another version. Naturally, the network syncs up and your block is left orphaned.

What can I do against orphaned blocks?

Nothing.  They always happen.

I understood it the same way as you did.  The tokens that were staked during the ITO were valid, and the equivalent number of staked tokens would be burned by Dev as to not increase the number of tokens available during the ITO.

...  DAN IS THE ONE MAKING THE VPN TECH FOR UTILITYCOIN.  WHY DOESN'T HE JUST ADD IT AS A FEATURE FOR XC INSTEAD?  THIS WAY THE BLOCKNET STILL BENEFITS.

Why would Blocknet not benefit from what is in Utilitycoin?  Last I saw is that Util was part of the Blocknet.
1559  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Blocknet] The internet of blockchains / XBridge / true cross-chain P2P on: November 05, 2014, 05:27:44 PM
b) on Bittrex BLOCKS is still disabled. You can buy and sell but you can't transfer it to an address (or put BLOCKS into bittrex for that matter)

You can buy at the ITO price.  You can not currently sell or transfer any Block to or from Bittrex during the ITO.

After the ITO is complete, if you bought Block on Bittrex, you will have 48 hours to sell them back at the ITO price if you so desire.  During this 48 hour window, you can not transfer Block to or from Bittrex.

After the 48 hour sell back period, you can actively trade Block on Bittrex.

ITO end at midnight, but in which city / time zone?

It'll end in about 6 hours

No, it ends in 15 hours.

23:59:59 PDT 5 November

08:00 GMT 6 November

No, the official released document said 23:59:00 EST on November 5th not PDT

The text in the OP says:

Quote
The ITO will run for 7 days beginning October 29, 2014 at 5am PDT and ending on November 5th 23:59:59 PDT

The official PDF says:

Quote
The Blocknet's ITO will begin on 05:00 EST, Oct 29th, and end at 23:59:00 EST on November 5th.

I can guarantee that the ITO did not start at 5am PDT since that is 8am EST and I bought Block at 5am EST.
