"User account does not exist, try a different public_id"

does anyone else get the same error?

Yup, I'm getting the same message.
2  Economy / Services / Re: BitCoinTorrentz.com - Torrent Download Service [GLBSE] on: December 07, 2011, 11:41:30 PM
check out pyload.org

Thanks for the tip, Molecular. Pyload looks interesting, I'll check it out.

I think BitCoinTorrentz.com could offer something along similar lines; with the added convenience that all the customer would have to do is download a single torrent file to download.
3  Economy / Services / Re: BitCoinTorrentz.com - Torrent Download Service [GLBSE] on: December 07, 2011, 10:39:27 AM
As an additional service, I think it would be quite useful if a customer could submit a bunch of related links (eg. movies usually get chunked up into different links) from public storage sites (Megafile Upload, Hotfile and the like), BitCoinTorrentz would download all of them, package them into a single torrent and then send the customer the torrent file for the customer to download.

Basically the service gives the customer the convenience of bypassing all the hassle associated with downloading from those public storage sites.  I'd probably pay for something like that Grin

Still, BitCoinTorrentz as it is now is a great idea and dovetails neatly with the potential of Bitcoin. Kudos! (I've translated my praise into coin by buying some shares.)
4  Economy / Services / Apartment for Rent in Makati, Philippines on: November 17, 2011, 06:50:46 AM
Email alcovesph@gmail.com if interested.

Description:
Two bedroom 80 square meter unit with 2 ½ bathrooms and complete kitchen. Complimentary use of high speed wifi as well as use of desktop computer with broadband internet access. A 32 inch flat screen TV with cable rounds out the apartment’s entertainment options. The apartment is serviced every other day. View a video of the place, here: http://youtu.be/njeJJN6Yf6I

Price per day:
$130 - equivalent amount of BTC to be determined prior to guest's sending of full payment. (I'd prefer to post a fixed BTC price but the way the exchange rate fluctuates nowadays that's impossible.)
No downpayment required upon reservation but I do ask that full payment be sent at least 3 days prior to the date of your stay. Failure of the guest to arrive on the reserved date will result in forfeiture of any payment previously sent.

Location:
Good for walking – The apartment is centrally located in the heart of Makati. A major shopping centre Greenbelt-Glorietta is less than a minutes walk away while Ayala Avenue, the Philippines’s equivalent of Wall Street, is a 5 minute walk away. Major Banks such as HSBC and Citibank are a 5 and 10 min. walk away, respectively. Ayala Museum is less than a 5 minute walk away. For your food needs, there is a 24 hour convenience store located in the building, while a regular supermarket is less than a 10 minute walk away.

Great for getting a car or mass transport- Given the apartment’s central, location hailing a cab is easy while the nearest Mass Transit Station (MRT- Ayala Avenue Station) is around a 15 minute walk away.

Great as a base for visiting other sites in Manila- Makati lies roughly in the middle of all the action in Manila. Historic Intramuros (the walled city of the Spaniards) and Chinatown are around 30-45 minutes by car. Ermita / Malate (a cultural and artistic centre for centuries) is around 30 minutes away by car. Newly minted shopping and entertainment zone, Fort Bonifacio, is around 15 minutes away by car. The International Airport is around 30-40 minutes away by car. (As you can tell from the travel times, Makati is close to everything. What delays most car trips is the inevitable traffic.)

Q: I am new to the Philippines! What is the difference between Makati and Manila?
A:  Manila is a hodgepodge of different cities and municipalities. Makati is one of these cities. An apt analogy is that Manila is like New York. New York is made out of different burrows while Manila is composed of different cities and municipalities. Makati is one such city and would, continuing the analogy, be comparable to New York’s Manhattan district.

Safety:
Given the nature of the unit’s surroundings (financial and shopping districts) it is not an exaggeration to say that the area is one of the safest in the entire country. One can walk around at night without any fear of anything untoward happening. Moreover, the building itself has round the clock security with roving security checks.

Honest Assessment by Owner:
Frankly, if the unit were a hotel, it would rank only around 3 ½ stars. However, considering the size and amenities of the apartment, coupled with its location, we sincerely believe that a stay with us is excellent value for your money. Some minor annoyances to the unit (this is after all an honest assessment): a) You have a view of Greenbelt and the buildings of Ayala Avenue but these are obstructed views and not much to write home about; b) bathrooms could use more counter-space.

Other available services:
(Payment for any of the services below will have to be in USD or Philippine Peso.)
We try to offer our guests the convenience of everything. Some are free and some are for a small fee:
a. City Guide (free): Our suggestions on where to visit in the Philippines as well as local hot spots.

5  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: BitMarket.Eu - We advise users not to use Paypal! on: August 15, 2011, 05:54:58 AM
For everyone's information:

I had a total of 2 transactions today on Bitmarket.eu from from the same person. Once I received payment through Paypal I released the BTCs he bought. A couple of hours later he hit me with Paypal chargebacks.

His info is:

Michael Evans: michael180sx@gmail.com

If anyone else here has been scammed by him, please PM me so we can exchange information/evidence. While it may be futile, I will try to fight the Paypal chargebacks - I don't want him to get away with his fraud.

I strongly urge everyone to be way of the individual described above. To Evans, if I've wrongly branded you as scammer I will publicly apologize and retract what I've said without hesitation. However, as you initiated the chargebacks without cause and without contacting me and have not replied to my emails; I'm not holding my breath that you care about your name and reputation.

I've contacted the site admin as well regarding this matter. I don't blame Bitmarket.eu, I knew the risks involved in using Paypal. However I do hope the admins reply to my request for info/help soon. I've been vocal on this forum about Bitmarket.eu being safe and reliable. Sadly now I'm going to discover how helpful they are in assisting their users who have been defrauded.

Lastly, does anyone have any advice on how to respond to Paypal? I noticed that PowerChaos recommends being upfront about everything (that it was a transaction for BTC, etc.), has this approach worked for people? The problem is I still have a Paypal balance from other transactions involving bitcoin. If I inform Paypal that the Evans chargebacks are from the sale of bitcoin, will they reverse my other transfers as well?

Philippine equities through investment funds.
8  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: bitmarket.eu sucks on: August 12, 2011, 10:50:41 PM
At the time I was verified by Bitmarket.eu I didn't have any account on this forum nor did I have any ebay account. I pointed out that I'm the owner/admin of a small website and that was enough to get me verified. I linked the whois information of the site in order to prove that it was mine. They do say you can be creative in providing proof for the verification process. Perhaps you know an already verified member of Bitmarket.eu who can vouch for you or can point to another forum where your posts were polite and on topic. I'm just shooting in the dark, the point is you can go beyond what they ask for (membership in the circle of trust or on this forum) in order to get verified.

Verification is important as it's one of the main ways that the traders on Bitmarket.eu are protected from scammers/lowlifes/miscreants. It must work, been trading there for about 3 months and have not experienced a single problem with getting paid or receiving the BTC I paid for.
9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BitMarket.eu - Improvements on: August 12, 2011, 04:25:58 AM
I too have been trading on Bitmarket.eu since June and also echo OP's sentiments that it's a good exchange.

+1 also for the suggestion of an automatic email notification that BTC's have been sent in the case of a purchase.

A minor thing, I'd really like to have the option to have the space between numbers and decimals represented as a "." instead of a "," For instance, ten and eighty five BTC would be shown as 10.85 not 10,85. I understand the use of the comma is European practice but it always freaks me out as I'm used to seeing the comma used to separate thousands from hundreds.   Cheesy
10  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Repudiate the Debt! on: August 11, 2011, 11:53:49 PM
I think you misunderstand what the government debt is.  In simple terms, its people's savings.  If the government defaults, it is breaking a contract with its own people.  Now we both know this happens all the time in poor countries but its not necessarily a wise route unless you want the US to become a poor country too.

I live in a poor country, the Philippines, but we've never defaulted on our debt. Most of our debt though is to foreign lenders. We were under the Marcos dictatorship for decades and have a lot of bloated crony bank accounts filled with public money, as well as a lot of white elephants (we have a nuclear power plant which was never used but that the government still dutifully paid billions of dollars for), to show for it.

When democracy was reestablished by a peaceful revolution (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EDSA_Revolution_of_1986) our creditors gave the new government the option to write off our debts since most of the funds lent to Marcos went to him personally (and were used by him for his personal gain) and not the nation. The government refused though and said the Philippines will pay as, despite how the loans were misused, they were still taken out in the name of the Republic of the Philippines. The name and reputation of the country were on the line and if the government contracted a loan then there was no ifs or buts about it, we would pay.

This debt burden caused a lot of economic hardship and still does. Even now, the proposed national budget for 2012 has debt payments at around 20% of the entire budget. Still, we pay, and continue to pay, because it is the name of our country at stake. We may be poor but we are not thieves who promise to pay and then don't.

I'm not arguing with the point that poor countries are more likely to default, that's a fact. There are some poor countries though who will endure great sacrifice in order to meet obligations they contracted, to prove that they are not beggars who receive handouts but upright citizens of the world community who receive loans and pay back those loans.

It's fashionable now for citizens of rich countries, Greece, America, Italy, ad infinitum, to complain that they should just forget about the nation's public debt because they personally have not benefited from it. When I see these scenes I can't help but think what they are afraid of is not penury but sacrifice. The average citizen of the first world enjoys an immensely comfortable lifestyle compared to those in the developing world. You have benefited from it, in advanced forms of social policy like social nets (ie. entitlements) and reinforcement of the rule of law, to very basic things like being assured that your roads won't devolve into a moonscape of potholes after a strong rain.

Now that the bill has come in for all this largesse, citizens of rich countries just want to wash their hands of the whole mess and walk away?

12  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are bitcoins your dirty little secret? on: July 25, 2011, 11:28:58 PM
My mere presence on the first day of enjoyment made my boss become a bitcoin miners. He now owns 11 GPUs, all ATI Radeon.

Hope he at least gave you some sort of a raise for introducing him to BTC!
13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Time To Stop Mining? on: July 20, 2011, 11:22:12 PM
Regardless of current difficulty I do stop mining every now and then when I just want some peace and quiet from the fans.

(Some things Bitcoin just can't buy...)

Your plea might sound more convincing if you gave (verifiable) details of what you alleged has happened to you.

(Less pathos, more logos.)
17  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What's the Best Trading Exchange for you: Mt Gox, TH, or CampBX? on: July 14, 2011, 09:22:13 AM
bitmarket.eu

It wasn't in the original choices but I second the choice of bitmarket.eu.

While it doesn't have the volume of other exchanges (note too that transactions in Euros, naturally given the origin/market of exchange, get lots more action that transactions in USD) I've never had a problem with any of my transactions there and they respond quickly to email.

Also the use of the exchange is free with a donation option available to help support the site.
18  Economy / Trading Discussion / Share how much BTC you've exchanged on: July 11, 2011, 11:10:29 AM
Was just wondering how much BTC you guys have sold over the months (years for the ye olde miners).

Mga kapatid...

Saan makabili ng pci-e extender cables sa Pinas? I currently have an unused pci-e slot on my mobo but it's being covered by the currently installed card; hence my need for an extender to free up space.

I've seen them sold on cablesaurus but don't know if they can be found locally.  Undecided
