1  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: DONOR THREAD for #OccupyWallStreet Bitcoin Promotion on: October 12, 2011, 01:48:17 AM
Yifu - on the transparency page (looks great btw!) please mark my work as pro bono. I won't be requesting compensation.

My compensation will be if just one angry socialist discovers Bitcoin and comes to learn what free market really means  Wink

LOL, That was pretty funny Eric.

How many users does you board have? I like to have alternatives to this forum but there doesn't seem to be much activity going on right know.
I've bookmarked it though.

There are about 100 members with various degrees of activity.  It's the only place on the net where you can get a whole Bitcoin just for sharing your thoughts.  Any community is what you make of it.  We have great tools and we listen.  It's worth giving us a try.

If you come, bring your friends.  Our group discussion tools are worth the price of admission (free by the way).  You can start a private discussion and invite people into it.  Better than email style private messages.

Also we are about to launch free ads.  You can find out more here: http://www.btclog.com/discussion/47/now-accepting-advertisements

4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are GPU's Satoshi's mistake? on: October 04, 2011, 01:20:17 PM
Satoshi didn't see the pool miners coming for sure.  But the algorithm still takes their collective power into account.  The most successful miners still pass on a fair amount of BTC.  I guess in the end it comes down to electricity.

Of course we tip Bitcoin!!!
6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Trade-Btc.com Brand new Bitcoin Exchange, buy sell and send Bitcoins! on: October 01, 2011, 03:24:34 AM
Thanks for the followup.

I'd recommend that you (operators of the site) put some bids and asks up to get the process started. You can put them up at large margins over the gox price, but at least there will be volume showing up there.

You should put up some of your own capital on both USD and BTC sides to help bootstrap liquidity.
For now our third party accounts are not funded to the point to start liquidity. We didn't plan on trading on our own exchange. So if people started trading we wouldn't be able to give them withdraws.

Hang in there guys.

What are rates?   How is your site traffic looking (visitors, not page views)?  Average time spent on site if possible?

Rates are free.  Time spent on site is like 7 minutes. 5 page views per visit.  Spread the word.
8  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoin Wallet for Iphone! (Kind of) on: September 29, 2011, 02:21:48 PM
Personally a fan of https://webcoin.ch which is web optimized.

This is my first time to see it.
I see that it is a true coin project.
Is there any documentation online for this?

It doesn't seem to be working for me with Chrome on OSX Lion.

(It hangs when I try to create a wallet, or view transactions)

That's Stefan's project! As in Stefan Thomas (WeUseCoins).  You met him and me (Travell) at the NYC Conference.  How about putting a MemoryDealers ad on btc::log!  It's free.

Got a Bitcoin related business that you want to promote?  Do you accept Bitcoin as a merchant?

btc::log is now accepting ad units to promote your products and services!  btc::log is fast growing and we would like to show our support by immediately providing an effective way to promote Bitcoin.  We are starting out with sidebar ad units:

  • Totally free to promote
  • Say whatever you like
  • Dimension: 250 x 250
  • JPG or PNG

Email a link to the service, your btclog username, and attach the ad unit to (btclog at rgbdaily dot com).  Alternatively, msg btclog on http://btclog.com with a link to the ad unit and service.

11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are there any bitcoin pr/marketing companies or individuals ? on: September 28, 2011, 10:45:59 AM
I'm a marketing, design, brand development, and writing consultant. Would love to help out some other companies in this area... maybe I should post on the wiki =)

One problem is that many of these startups are offering very paltry "bounty's" for the work that needs to be done. I'm happy to offer discounts off normal market prices for this work, but people still need to be prepared to pay for quality.

This guy does good work.  He designed the logo for Bit-Pay and also helped out with btc::log.  I plan on using him for a non Bitcoin related project very soon.

They also have a cookie based ban system that makes the site appear to be down. They are very ban happy on there, so that could be the reason why the site doesn't appear to you? Try loading up the site in a different browser.

I never registered, LOL.  They are probably losing traffic from their broken cookies.
14  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Unknown National Chain Restaurant to Accept Bitcoin This Weekend on: September 24, 2011, 06:29:01 PM
So... anyone with ties or communication with Bruce have any idea what happened to his show? I thought it was supposed to be a daily thing, but last one that came out was now a week ago  Undecided

Was only ever a weekly thing.  btc::log does give away a whole Bitcoin daily to active new members.
15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to ruin Bitcoin, and feel good about not learning anything. on: September 24, 2011, 06:08:28 PM
I just wanted to say, I feel very close to all of you. We should have a convention. 15 of us will meet up at some airport hilton, scan each others QR codes, and look down at the ground for 4 hours while we all shuffle our feet.

Seriously though, Matthew. Thanks man, you're great. I really appreciated your message to me in early August, and I've followed your example of ballsy public living. There aren't many people around who are willing to let themselves be known. So many trolls, haters and instigators. Monkeys throwing poop, really. Everyone here with a good sense of humor, and with a grip on reality, is my friend.

So, does anyone have any good dinosaur pictures to share?

Here's mine:

"Aah! A mouse!"

Another day, another bitcoin website disappears with everyone's money.

[SHAMELESS PLUG ALERT]

Some days a site comes around that actually gives the community Bitcoin instead of stealing it Wink
17  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin version 0.4 released on: September 24, 2011, 05:29:18 PM
...

Previous versions of bitcoin are unable to read encrypted wallets,
and will crash on startup if the wallet is encrypted.

...

Is it a notification or a real crash?
18  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / BitcoinScene.org: DOWN on: September 24, 2011, 04:04:39 PM
BitcoinScene.org has been down for multiple days now.  Who runs that site?

20  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What are all the places to advertise a new Bitcoin-related service? on: September 23, 2011, 04:58:40 AM
btc::log accepts ads and the best part is it's free.  Just create a post and attach an image to get started.  If the ad unit gets approved we'll add it permanently to the rotation!
