I don't get why this thread was necrobumped, but bitmarket.io account is likely compromised, and has been for years...

7  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Ways to Get More Traffic to BitcoinTalk.Org for all Casascius/Collectibles Sales on: November 19, 2019, 12:54:16 AM
A lot of people in this very forum aren't aware of this sub forum. And on r/bitcoin when Casascius coins come up the owners have never, ever heard of it either.

Even then I can see why it would be a turn off to most. I doubt anyone's ever used an escrow for anything before and the average know little owner will be looking for dollars anyway.

Rather than ads why not request an add to this page https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Casascius_physical_bitcoins  or even Mike Caldwell's site itself?

I've also seen the same on r/bitcoin -- people are mostly unaware of this Collectibles section here. I agree that buying and selling Casascius, or other crypto-related collectibles, is quite hard. But I guess it's hard to buy/sell physical gold/silver as well, not to mention other kinds of collectibles. I guess specific marketplaces and services will be in the center of "big audience semi-insiders" trading, outsiders trading at Ebay.. and most hardcore insiders trading OTC. Just like it happens with MTG cards currently.

I just want to say that the coins should IMO be funded. It's Bitcoin! What sense does it make to not include any bitcoins on an item when it would be possible?
9  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Special Auction for 5x Denarium Bitcoin Decennium 2019 Gold Bars on: September 07, 2019, 06:50:45 PM
Wait...   I have more questions......

Since you come here looking for investors....

and in Bitcointalk.org/collectibles  fashion

I am wondering the stability of such a company..

Can you show the forum a picture of  the 100 gold bars with your name on a piece of paper

Im sure some Pictures were taked of such a display to see....

You sound like you have a beef with Denarium/Technomage. Do you seriously doubt that Denarium does not have the gold bars they're selling, or what is this about?

Regarding your questions about who is "we", I see that Technomage means himself and other people in charge of Denarium products in the company called Prasos. I don't see why it should be relevant to you who are these other people working in the company. Companies usually do not share information about their employees anyway, and there is zero reason to demand such info.

And the issue with the .999 / .9999 gold purity is not really a quality control issue. We use the most reputable lab in Finland for this sort of thing and they simply don't have the .9999 stamp.

It is apparently illegal to stamp higher than .999 purity for gold in Finland. (Source: https://tukes.fi/en/products-and-services/articles-of-precious-metals-jewellery-and-watches/fineness-solders-filling-and-coatings)
Even worse IMO.  Making that bar on purpose with the mismatched marks, seriously?  Roll Eyes

Quote
If you sell articles of precious metals in Finland, the articles must carry a fineness mark accepted in Finland.  The articles must not carry other fineness marks. The precious metal content of an article must be at least the fineness indicated in the mark; lower finenesses are not allowed.

Their bars only carry these legal .999 purity marks, right? If they had .9999 in the bar, it would be illegally marked. Stating the purity of .9999 in some document is another thing. (And of course you're allowed to stamp .999 on a higher purity bar, everything is alright as long as purity doesn't go below .999 on a .999 stamped item)

I did get an e-mail from Denarium, with a link to this auction. This e-mail was probably sent to a wide audience with vast majority not being regulars or not interested at all in Bitcointalk or its Collectibles section. There are crypto collectibles buyers and collectors outside this Collectibles community, sometimes this is forgotten by regulars here... BTCC had newbie bidders as well and everyone knew that they were mostly Chinese people who do not use these forums. Like with BTCC, Denarium should be reputable enough already to be known to not employ any shilling or anything like that.

I see absolutely nothing shady in these newbie bidders when they are vouched by Technomage/Denarium to be legit, and I actually wonder why regulars here do not take this vouching seriously and keep questioning it. Denarium has been in business since 2012 and is a very reputable company. Regarding their company owners bidding or buying their items.. Well, there are loads of small owners, myself included, and there should be nothing shady or controversial in that either. I can see how this could be controversial, but in this case it is not as everyone is treated the same and big owners of the company are not bidding, AFAIK.

Regarding these auction events, I think it should be implied by "auction" that bids cannot be lowered. I.e. you can't cancel a bid if it's a winning bid. Especially when this is not stated in the auction. Of course obviously erroneous bids should be cancelled/invalidated though.

You're right, stone and wood can't be glued like that! At least should use some strengthening pegs. Did you contact seller before posting this?

Apparently they do. This is Poloniex's owner: busoni

For what it's worth, I think Poloniex is currently owned by Circle.
17  Other / Meta / Re: PM from admin demanding to exclude a certain user on: June 13, 2019, 08:37:49 AM

lauda is upset he can no longer unilaterally tag people without anyone else's support -- he is upset he can no longer use the threat of negative trust as a weapon to silence his critics

This is what I don't get. No, the new system DOES unilaterally allow people to tag whoever they want for whatever they want. There is just now a distinction between Flag, this person scammed me, and feedback, this is a warning I think this person is a scammer and here is why.
Previously, leaving a negative rating would effectively cripple a person's ability to conduct business, as it created the bight red warning to "trade with extreme caution", regardless of what the comment said. Now, if you were to leave negative trust for "liking lemons" there will be no bright red warning, and anyone reading this comment will promptly ignore the rating -- in other words, the negative rating no longer cripples a person's ability to conduct business.

Correct -- that's what Lauda has been saying too.

What the above means is Lauda can no longer use the threat of him sending a negative rating as a means to get what he wants out of people, others will no longer be afraid of criticizing him (Lauda has given many people negative trust for criticizing him, recently explicitly for doing this, and previously, the comment was for other, bogus reasons, but was done immidiately after they criticized him. if lauda wants to open a flag against someone, they need to create a thread in which the person in question can be defended by himself or others -- lauda had said today that "no discussion is necessary" for flags he opened today.

Your subjective non-contributing view to the matter, which also contradicts what Lauda says about himherself.
18  Other / Meta / Re: PMs from admin demanding to exclude certain users on: June 12, 2019, 09:55:56 PM
Given that hes essentially just another member of DT

You are delusional to think that people see theymos as "just another member of DT" or that he would actually be just a member of DT.
19  Other / Meta / Re: PMs from admin demanding to exclude certain users on: June 12, 2019, 09:41:46 PM
I agree with the general sentiment of suchmoon and others here. Especially now when this new flag thing was implemented, it isn't surprising to see it being accidentally misused or problematic at this point. Also, I would not go distrust Lauda solely because Lauda really just made a negative flag about Quickseller, regardless of whatever was incorrect or bad in the flag.
