281  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANNOUNCE] Tenebrix, a CPU-friendly, GPU-hostile cryptocurrency on: October 02, 2011, 08:31:10 AM
I tried with guiminer it seems to connect with a good speed, but am I mining anything at all?  Or do we need to use minerd which is kinda slow Sad
Yes, you need to mine using minerd, since it uses a completely different cryptographic algorithm, also explaining why it's "slow".
282  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANNOUNCE] Tenebrix, a CPU-friendly, GPU-hostile cryptocurrency on: October 01, 2011, 08:20:22 PM
The Simplecoin pool seems to send new work units every minute instead of every five seconds. Since the pool has longpolling it reduces the chance of stale shares (shares that became invalid because they were sent after a new block was generated)

And no, you don't have to do anything of that manually.

so only " PROOF OF WORK RESULT: true (yay!!!)" is a share accepted by simplecoin.us?
what about all the hashes showing like this

LONGPOLLs mean that a new block has been created to the Tenebrix network rendering all your current work units void.
Those hashing speeds mean how many times the miner has tried to find a match for that work unit before requesting a new one. Also explains why you get messages more frequently when you are solo mining, the miner requests new work units every five seconds when you are solo mining unlike pools.

A miner that supports scrypt. The only one that supports scrypt at the moment is minerd which comes with the Tenebrix pack. And no, you can't use anything like CUDA, it would be against the Tenebrix's point of being a GPU-hostile cryptocurrency. Tongue

No, just set your worker to TBX Proportional and it will be fine.

The port is 8337 like with some Bitcoin mining pools.

It just started trading yesterday.

Please enlighten us because I haven't seen an exchange so far etc. What is 1000TBX in BTC or USD ? Maybe this will be another one of the pizza for 200 000 USD moments etc.

10 difficulty means it's 10x harder to generate the current block than the block chain's first block.

What are you using to mine?
Q8800 with 3 threads at 1.10 khash/s each.

Hi there, thanks for the service!

I noticed recently (today actually) that Java is launched whenever loading dailybitcoins.org, I checked the console log and I noticed there is something fishy going on:

Live entry: key=http://www.filenetworking.com/,http://www.bitcoinplus.com/jar/bitcoinplus-miner.jar, refCount=1, threadGroup=sun.plugin2.applet.Applet2ThreadGroup[name=http://www.filenetworking.com/-threadGroup,maxpri=4]

Doesn't take long to guess what that is...

I don't want to accuse you, perhaps it's an advertiser, just wanted to let you know.
Oh wow, I doubt he'll get a single bitcent back from his investment. It takes hours to generate 0.000027 BTC using the Bitcoinplus miner, so I have no idea why anyone would use it.
291  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Question/Bounty: What does it take to start Tenebrix without premined coins? on: September 30, 2011, 05:50:14 PM
Just wait for sc2.0 its going to have protection against the 51% attack as well and more features. There is no point in opening another currency with known problems, no business will invest in something that could have them potentially lose all their earnings. Public beta opens this weekend.

So funny.. CoinHunter has only delivered bug ridden code and insane rants, only a fool would trust him with anything important.

From what I've read, CoinHunter has been praising his own fork without a single hint of actual, factual information related to the new version of SolidCoin.
That, and he starts throwing insults around when anyone doubts him.

Wait, the transactions need 101 transactions before they are accepted by the exchange? Huh

EDIT:
Nevermind, they are on my account already. Just a typo on the site.
295  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Question/Bounty: What does it take to start Tenebrix without premined coins? on: September 30, 2011, 04:27:48 PM
I can try too. I've worked on bitcoin-qt a bit (only the GUI portion though), but implementing changes from the Tenebrix fork should be trivial (as in copy-paste everything and change stuff if needed). Tongue
296  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANNOUNCE] Tenebrix, a CPU-friendly, GPU-hostile cryptocurrency on: September 30, 2011, 03:25:50 PM
So, has anyone tried adding scrypt mining option into CGMiner?

I may try it soon as an exercise of some sort.

EDIT:
Nevermind, compiling the program on Windows seems incredibly difficult and there are barely no instructions.
297  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Question/Bounty: What does it take to start Tenebrix without premined coins? on: September 30, 2011, 03:20:43 PM
So, is anyone going to keep this fork of Tenebrix up-to-date with the original code base, so that improvements implemented to Tenebrix will also be carried to Fairbrix?
298  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Question/Bounty: What does it take to start Tenebrix without premined coins? on: September 29, 2011, 08:09:27 PM
Good. Hopefully it will be supported like Tenebrix.
299  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Question/Bounty: What does it take to start Tenebrix without premined coins? on: September 29, 2011, 07:04:51 PM
Couldn't bother to rename the repository yet. Tongue
I'm not doing this seriously, just for science.
300  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Question/Bounty: What does it take to start Tenebrix without premined coins? on: September 29, 2011, 07:00:43 PM
Just spent few minutes renaming everything from Tenebrix to Fairbrix (alongside with some other stuff to differentiate it from Tenebrix)

https://github.com/Matoking/Tenebrix

Time well spent.

And no, I have no idea if this will work. I'll try it and see if it explodes in a nuclear fireball. (pretty unlikely but would be kinda cool if it happened)

EDIT:
Assertion fail.
No nuclear fireball.
Sad face.
