101  Economy / Speculation / Re: Your price expectations for 2021 on: January 15, 2021, 09:51:18 PM
Expo?
Expo is something that happens every 5 years, in different cities across the world. It was supposed to happen in 2020 in Dubai but because of Covid, it got delayed to 2021.

Participating in an Expo allows countries to create a fleeting miniature world, a microcosm of global progress and dialogue. Expos provide a unique and international stage to engage in cultural diplomacy and interact with the host country, other participants, potential tourists, trade partners and investors.

As long as fiscal stimulus keeps rolling in, which is very likely now that Democrats will control Congress and the presidency, I believe the markets will remain optimistic. Something would have to go very wrong to bring back the negative sentiment of Q2 2020.

This is the backdrop for Bitcoin's bubble, not to mention the ongoing bubble in stocks. All signs point to continuation.
Unlikely. Bear market won't let it live despite the fiscal stimulus. Keep in mind US alone doesn't control the markets, so its going to interesting to see how things proceed moving on forward. Scared but at the same time excited for the near future. 2021 is either gonna bang or suck shit.

I'm more interested in (or maybe "scared of" would be a better term) what regulations they plan to smother Bitcoin with.
Oh 100%. Not just bitcoin, for the entire crypto-community. Senators are so scared of bitcoin's impact its almost funny to watch. Painful but still funny.

Your predictions? @exstasie?
102  Economy / Speculation / Re: Your price expectations for 2021 on: January 15, 2021, 01:50:19 PM
Seeing how the market is moving currently, 100k USD is something most people are expecting for bitcoin's price to be at the end of 2021. It is VERY likely, however, this is all to be determined on how the next few months are going to be. Every factor is going to play into this, directly or not: Covid's vaccination spread, there is an EXPO this year, and a lot of other things that 2020 delayed. Its going to be a wild fucking year, mark my words.

It is also going to be interesting to see how Biden's Cabinet is going to play into this year, and more importantly I want to see the battle between the bulls and bears. This year has started with a banger in this territory to say the least.

My prediction? 50k seems achievable. Chances are btc might hit 100k but will fall back down. The rich aren't going to let the poor get more money through bitcoin. So expect some wild stuff.
103  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: May 7th, 2140 on: January 14, 2021, 11:52:15 PM
Here's my thinking: the rate at which bitcoin is growing is somewhat exponential, however even if say one bitcoin is worth one million each, it is very possible that the normal cost of living and everything else in the economy is also same.

Realistically speaking, a lot of shit is to happen in the next 119 years. So for all we know the worth of bitcoin might not matter at all. Mind you people are noticing and carefully studying bitcoin and it's impact, there are going to be cunts who would do anything to stop it/ban it/ try to ensure the whole concept of bitcoin dies within itself. Less likely but very possible.

It would be interesting to see how the next generation, or the generation after is going to handle bitcoin and everything that falls with it.
104  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 1 BTC = 1 BTC on: January 13, 2021, 05:00:37 PM
"1 BTC = 1 BTC" emerged, IIRC, as a commentary on/response to fiat-obsessed bitcoin speculators who only cared about fiat value.

if you are a true bitcoin believer then BTC is the proper unit of account---never any kind of fiat money. fiat money is just a temporary reference. purchasing power is not and never was the definition of a bitcoin, nor should it ever be.

1 BTC = 1/21,000,000th of the max monetary supply, period. if that's not how you're oriented, then you're still stuck in the old paradigm, and you don't value bitcoin as an economy unto itself.

People arguing to keep the ChipMixer payments at their current rates who are trying to get a bigger paycheck, they know that the campaign should decrease the rates and probably want the discussion about it to stop. It's logical, though a bit too smarmy.

i just think all the open speculation lacks tact. it feels icky. people with common sense understand the underlying economics and can reasonably expect what's gonna happen, but i just don't see the point in making some public spectacle out of CM's business decisions. that's why the discussion should cease and why the service thread should be cleaned up IMO.
What he said^

People are, one jealous(which is understandable), and two, trying to farm impressions either by trying to support CM participants, or trying to bring in points against them.

Let CM handle its business, and I think I can speak for everyone in CM campaign when I say, whatever decision they make; it won't affect us. Because we care more about life than how much we get paid weekly by CM. Sole reason why you don't see any CM participant farm and make 50 posts every consecutive week.

As for the point of 1 BTC= 1 BTC, from a normal person point of view: they only care about its fiat value.

Chipmixer as a business uses btc as its main forefront, but they would still have to deal in fiat for most of their business operations/payments. So it is really only up to how they think and NOT how we think.
105  Other / Meta / Re: What do you think about this UI? on: January 13, 2021, 01:19:28 PM
Pretty clean minimalistic design, I like it so far.

Do you have any other splash screens made for say, how a thread would look in this particular UI, and would you allow for users to be able to change theme, color, font etc?

Also, there is no mention of the app being related to bitcointalk or a bitcoin forum in general, or even a logo for that matter, so perhaps that could use.
106  Economy / Speculation / Re: Don’t Panic on: January 12, 2021, 09:52:57 PM
I feel like the current surge has caused enmass outbreak for people who still didn't bother to invest in bitcoin before, people are waking up lol. I just see people saying they regret not investing at x period of time everywhere and its funny because they are like the anti-vaccine moms of the crypto community.

I’ve seen this twice before...
I lost count lol
Well when you are with crypto to be specific in bitcoin for long time then you should have seen it all. The major events that happened in 2017 when Bitcoin price reached a new ATH of $19k+ and now it's happening again but this time we crossed $41k. No one knows if this is the highest we gone for this run or still we have a lot to see.

However one thing is for sure, if you hold your bitcoin then you are never going to miss a bull run. We all expect bitcoin to reach $100k or $1m but if you sell out at $30k then do you deserve $1M?
Word.

People still think crypto and stock market function the same. Boy by the time they figure out its not the case their nutsack is going to be fuckin a dry honeycomb by then. History of 1929 and 2008 is going to repeat itself. 100%.
107  Other / Meta / Re: does it make sense to report posts like this written by higher ranked member? on: January 12, 2021, 06:55:14 PM
There, I don't have a simple answer Smiley.
A distinction must be made between simple mods and Global Mods.
Simple mods can delete messages/topics.
Global mods can also ban other members.
If a shitposter comes to the section I moderate, I can delete those posts. If he really insists, I can make a request to ban him. My request can be accepted... or not.

But the big difference between the work of a simple mod and a GM is the number of reports. If I have 50 reports in a month, it's a big month for me Smiley. GM must have thousands of reports to handle (and there is only a small percentage of unhandled reports). It must be hard to remember or take time to find out if this member deserves a ban or not.
But in any case, temporary bans are given, see here, but I don't have the stats Smiley.
Fair enough, it would be cool to see the percentage of people who get banned due to spam posts in contrasts to other stuff like plagiarism/breaking severe rules.

That said, I think there should be couple more GMs for btt, there is only so much Mprep, Hilarious and Mr.big can do. Or bringing in new general mods at the very least. We speak about this time and time again,  but something needs to be done.
108  Other / Meta / Re: does it make sense to report posts like this written by higher ranked member? on: January 12, 2021, 03:18:26 PM
Question for moderators. does it make sense to report posts like this?

To answer you simply : yes, you can report him, regardless of the rank.
But it may not be necessary to waste your time and report all the posts of this shitposter, but give as many details as possible in your report. The more visibility he gets, the faster the GM will look into his case.
"Funny", his signature campaign requires 15 posts a week, he did them in 53 minutes (48 minutes the week before). And 22 seconds later, he posted his bounty report for the week.  A pure sig spammer .
Question, do mods give out temp bans to sig spammers, or do they just delete the posts??

Cause as per this, sig spammers do get banned for a week as their first offense. Its been a while since I saw someone get banned for sig spamming or maybe I just didn't notice. Would like to know your thoughts on this.

Mind telling me more about your bisq experience? I haven't used it particularly so.
It is very different from centralized exchanges and even other DEXs, so I won't lie and say that the first time you use it is completely straightforward. It does take a bit of time to set up and learn how their trading and escrow services work, but once you've got the hang of it it is completely fine to use and probably the closest we have every come to completely decentralized trading.

They have extensive documentation, user guides and YouTube tutorials, as well as a great community who can help out with any technical issues (links included at the bottom). Of all the trades I have done there, I have never once had an issue with the other party not paying, disputing the trade, or something similar, and never had to involve a mediator.

When you use it for the first time, your account is "unsigned" and has a limit of 0.01 BTC. Once you've done a few successful trades with trusted users, this limit will be lifted.

Anyways I will check out bisq and will annoy you if required heh.  Kiss
110  Other / Meta / Re: Repeated Low Quality Posts by User B1tUnl0ck3r - Ban Consideration on: January 10, 2021, 09:09:32 AM
Isn't there a moderator exclusively only for the WO thread? or is it not the case anymore?

But yeah, reporting is the next best option. But goooood luck since WO is a hUGE thread, its gonna be annoying to find context for the mods in certain scenarios. Do-able, but annoying.

The user "B1tUnl0ck3r" appears to be shitting up the WO thread with some pretty off-topic and rather insane banter. Not sure what value they add to these forums.
Unfortunately, what he posts isn't considered as spam posts :/ His posts are comparatively better than the posts made by idiots in altcoin discussion. So yeah standards have reduced for deleting spam messaging, and also there is free speech on the forum so there is not much you as an individual can even do. Another option would be to press the ignore button on the user.

Damn I miss shapeshift, it was one of the more convenient sites without the need for kyc back then. Oh well.

you may be in luck. i dunno what the exact timeline for rollout is (supposedly sometime in q1), but erik voorhees just announced that shapeshift is phasing out its centralized market making activities and going 100% DEX.

once that happens, they are removing KYC requirements!

Quote
ShapeShift Is Going Full DeFi to Lose KYC Rules

Voorhees said the integration will not only allow U.S. customers to use the platform without needing to perform KYC onboarding, but also will let ShapeShift open up “more jurisdictions, not fewer” as the exchange “removes itself from regulated activity.”

“Because ShapeShift is no longer acting as any form of financial intermediary or counterparty, this new, frictionless [user experience] frees users from having to provide personal, private information,” a press release from ShapeShift states.
omg

LETS FUCKING GOO! best news i have heard today! thanks for sharing this  Kiss

someone PWEASE give me a good service which keeps up to date with the crypto, I possibly can't keep up with everything happening. But seriously, thanks for sharing, im EXCITED to say the least.
112  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: i give up on: January 08, 2021, 11:01:51 PM
do you deal with buying/selling altcoins on decentralized p2p site?
Not really, so I can't give much advice on that front I'm afraid. The only altcoin I have any real interest in is Monero, given my penchant for all things privacy, and Bisq has a pretty large number of Monero traders for the same reason. If I can't find a trade a like, then occasionally I'll turn to this forum instead. On the rare occasions I've needed another altcoin for a specific purpose, then I've usually justed traded on here rather than navigate unknown exchanges for the sake of one trade.
Ah hells. Fair enough, P2P altcoin market is worse than btc p2p market, so yeah. Mind telling me more about your bisq experience? I haven't used it particularly so.

Random mood shift: Damn I miss shapeshift, it was one of the more convenient sites without the need for kyc back then. Oh well.
113  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: i give up on: January 07, 2021, 10:44:29 PM
Interesting replies. FWIW, i haven't yet given into providing my kyc to anyone yet. I keep checking on LocalCryptos, the market is slightly growing because of the surge, but still not quite there. Am to lazy to quote everyone, so just tl;dr reply to y'all:

@o_e_l_e_o,  just for you, I will try to be maker, instead of a taker on Localcryptos. Just. for. you.  Kiss

@hugeblack, I have never really interacted with anyone on bitcoin twitter, introduce me senpai(actually serious). I would love to make some twitter friends.

@TheUltraElite, localcryptos has pretty much always been dry for my region, it sucks, it iz what it iz

@logfiles, I didn't even know binance p2p was a thing, thanks lol. But hey, I am happy that you have a decent options of buyers and sellers on your localcryptos page.

@figmentofmyass, I did see a little bit of surge in my area, but half of them are trolls sort of. Here is an example,:

@Coolcryptovator, not a bad idea to ask someone from LBC to get into Localcryptos, however, i am not in contact with any of my past trade mates, so that will also be a no-go. Btw, congrats on hitting legendary.

@magneto, good idea actually. I could do that, or mix your idea with Coolcryptovator, so I get best of both worlds, idk I shall see.

@o_e_l_e_o, since you basically have never used a centralized exchange ever, do you deal with buying/selling altcoins on decentralized p2p site?
114  Other / Meta / Re: How about new sub section 'Investment discussion' on: January 07, 2021, 10:23:41 PM
Oh definitely, I would love a board like that. Even if I don't post, I get to read people's analysis, theories, coNSPIRACIREs, ya know ya know. It could be a cute lil wholesome board where traders could ask for genuine advice, and help fellow traders out. Trading discussion is a shitshow of a board, we definitely need a better one. Make it like, limited only to full members and above, to keep the spam out.

idk man it could be pretty cool to see some interesting activity since bitcoin is blowing up like the Capitol building. Sudden, but not surprised.

also PLUS FUCKING ONE to remove Investor-based games board.
115  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Help: A list of LocalBitcoin alternatives (P2P marketplaces) on: January 01, 2021, 11:41:05 PM
I found a gold mine: https://kycnot.me

This site is too cool for us. It checks all these criterias besides non-kyc for the site:
Quote
Verified   P2P   No personal info   Cash accepted   No account   Tor   KYC if suspicious   Custiodial   Refunds w/o KYC

And, it also lists out other non-kyc based services and utilitiy sites. Pretty fucking cool.
116  Economy / Service Discussion / i give up on: January 01, 2021, 10:27:02 PM
I am giving up on Localcryptos, there's barely any sellers in my region esp for bitcoin, let alone any other crypto. I think at this point i might just have to lend into giving my kyc to localbitcoins.

My hopes for a perfect exchange keep shattering by the day. Sad
117  Other / Meta / Re: Wish the forum a safe and a prosperous 2021. on: December 30, 2020, 10:20:34 PM

HOPING. FOR. THE. NEW. FORUM. TO. BE. RELEASED. IN. 2021. Cry Cry Please.
118  Other / Meta / Re: Official Bitcoin Song on: December 25, 2020, 08:42:16 PM
That would be fucking dope. I love League of Legends songs, and riot does a fuckin good job at it. If someone manages to pull off a song for btc the way riot releases its LoL songs, AH man GOOSEBUMPS. That would be fuckin HYPE.

There could be songs that like diss on Roger ver, or you know on bitcoin itself, or like altcoins are ruining my life(parody of e-girls are ruining my life). It would be fucking dope if its done right.

120  Other / Meta / Re: [2020] Positive news! on: December 23, 2020, 09:19:23 PM
2020 has been such a shitshow, it has done more harm than good. However, that didn't change how some people reacted on this forum at least for all the good moments that happened here,: QS and Lauda forgiving each other was a highlight for sure. 2020 has been so fucking long I can't even tell if this happened this year or if it happened in 2019. Still fuckin sucks that Bruno isn't with us and Lauda left the forum, and a lot of OGs leaving, gives me a hard time everytime I talk about it.

Shoutout to the whole chipmixer roster, they have helped me quite a bit just by their normal regular posting. I will always be grateful to those lot.  Cheesy

And merry christmas and a very happy new year. To a better 2021.
