261  Economy / Reputation / Re: [Plead] Phinnaeus Gage's User Moniker Manifested Due to a Malignant Brain Tumor on: April 11, 2020, 11:48:53 AM
Oh my goodness. Rest in Peace, Bruno.

This is genuinely heartbreaking, we knew this was coming, but we didn't expect it to be this soon. My deepest condolences for his family.

I still can't believe we just lost the greatest scam fighter in bitcointalk history, and that we would never be able to see him again.

The same thing happened with Hal, one of the greatest minds of our century, and now Bruno. I am...out of words.

I know this won't help change anything, but can Bruno's accounts be changed to VIP status and can admins protect it so no one tries to hack it and use it for awful purposes.

Formal plead, please @admins.

262  Other / Meta / Re: Trust Feature idea: give DT1 the ability to remove specific feedbacks from DT on: April 10, 2020, 11:53:12 PM
At first when I read this I thought of it ass a not so great idea. I would turn it down.

But come to think of it, maybe the voting could work, if the voting is unanimous(as in all the DT1 members agree that the rating is bad), or if majority of them disagree. Also, the voting could be limited, as in you can vote only thrice a month, so people would have to be wise on who to vote for.

And if there's colluding of any sort, the admins can obviously undo this.

263  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Building a list of the safest places to buy Bitcoin in each country on: April 10, 2020, 11:13:25 PM
Okay wow. I really liked how you have done the list, the layout, and everything behind it. I got to hand it to you, definitely.

Couple of things you can possibly embed in your site: Notify whether the exchange requires KYC or not, the minimum fees for the exchange, and if you can, then even list the critical reviews for each exchange. Or even a link would do.
264  Economy / Economics / Re: Nobel Laureate asked India to print more money and not to worry about inflation on: April 10, 2020, 09:17:26 PM
Well, other countries have done it in the past[1], the US has been doing it for awfully long time, and given the state of the world right now, I don't necessarily see this as a bad thing, people need physical cash in their hands, because not everyone can work from home. And if printing more money is the way, they should go ahead and do it.

An inflated economy is better than a non-existent/economy with a fuckton of unhealthy people.

265  Other / Off-topic / Re: What's longest time have you been without 'deleted post' message? on: April 10, 2020, 03:31:23 PM
Does this count??

If not, then technically, according to my inbox my last deleted message by a moderator was more than a year and a half ago:

Although, I am pretty sure I have had my posts deleted, but I just didn't get a message notification about it.
266  Other / Meta / Re: POLL: Initial merit provided to older established accounts on: April 10, 2020, 02:18:38 PM
Maybe a few users should have received more/less than what they got. Maybe there could have been an algorithm to determine the amount of merits a person deserved, based on time spent, posts made, et al. But right now it doesn't matter, cause there is no going back. Even if there is, its not worth it.

I do feel like, majority of them deserved it, a lot of people spent a lot of time getting those activity points, and waited years to get that activity, not getting that airdropped merit might have caused more members to leave, it could have become too demoralizing to be fair. I know, there are lot of shitturds out there that used their merit in not so right way, but we have to just live with it and let it go, as we don't love in an ideal universe.
267  Other / Meta / Re: [table] limits on Bitcointalk (?) on: April 09, 2020, 10:56:12 PM
I'm sorry that I'm bringing up this thread after more than three years; however, this is the only thread I found after Googling the "INVALID BBCODE: loop, probably unclosed tags" error.

I just faced it while adding a new row in my thread. So I'd like to confirm, is the "splitting of the table" still the only solution to this error? Undecided
I tried to run bbcode tests on third party sites and the forum editor for your table code, and added a fake row to see if I could get around it somehow, but in vain. So unless you get word from the admin staff, I suppose yeah, you can only split the table for now.

I tried in these sites btw:

268  Economy / Economics / Re: I think we can take pride that we didn't need a stimulus bill for btc on: April 09, 2020, 10:08:06 PM
Most of the world and governments seem interested in trying to keep companies afloat and stock markets looking promising by pumping huge funds into them and trying to keep liquidity high. I think we should start to be cautious but still more assured of the strength of bitcoin and the cryptocurrency world as a whole...

We rebounded from 3800 to 6000 pretty quickly and at a greater strength than the S&P of ftse rebounding.... Maybe the smart minds really are in and backing crypto these days... Just something to reflect on there....
I mean, a lot of people are going pro-bitcoin instead of anti-bitcoin, and its showing off well. Take Jack Dorsey for example, hes becoming quite the crypto enthusaist.(leaving examples below, check his twitter).

People are scared right now, and they are losing their trust in the stock market. The general public saw what happened to Dow Jones, and everything else, so now they are more into bitcoin than ever, because backup strategies. There is a fair chance bitcoin skyrockets again if things keep going this way.

269  Economy / Exchanges / Re: BINANCE TO LAUNCH ITS OWN MINING POOL on: April 08, 2020, 11:36:17 PM
Binance mining pool sounds cool on paper, but in reality, it will be a mess.

Even the stupidest and greediest miner is a whole lot better versed in crypto than their average retail customer. Binance will be up against rivals with vast amounts of experience. If they can't cut it they'll soon be gone.

I hope that is the case because CZ has already proven himself to be very stupid with his roll back talk. That didn't matter when he ran an exchange, it might if he ran a pool though it would be deserted in a shot.
Agreed, most of Binance's users only know how to copy paste an address, and how to send coins back and forth. Mining is so NOT that. And beating the competition would be tough, but Binance's reputation is what is handy to them, enough to give them a noticeable headstart in the game.

I am eager to see how this all turns out, I really don't want binance to fail, it will manage to disrupt the whole industry(there's no other exchange as good as binance right now), but I also don't want binance to have a zillion acquisitions and fuck it up with all of Binance crap(over-polluting the industry), and eventually establishing monopoly.
270  Economy / Exchanges / Re: BINANCE TO LAUNCH ITS OWN MINING POOL on: April 08, 2020, 07:12:58 PM
I really hope binance isn't trying to lie/deceive people again. I might have brought the VISA bullshit at first, but never-mind me.

I really hope Binance isn't going for a monopoly move here, it will kill the whole industry if they do so. Maybe not at first, but sooner or later things will escalate and will go from bad to worse. Binance mining pool sounds cool on paper, but in reality, it will be a mess. Binance is just trying to make acquisitions in a desperate attempt to come over the top,and once this whole acquisition war is over, they will be left with shitty companies, and no money in their pockets.
271  Economy / Economics / Re: What N America and Europe need to start on now! on: April 07, 2020, 10:03:05 PM
Trump has already called for a $2 trillion spending bill for infrastructure. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-03-31/trump-calls-for-2-trillion-infrastructure-bill-to-create-jobs

It's not as crazy as it sounds given the unprecedented unemployment numbers. Infrastructure spending is a band-aid for that since it creates lots of temporary jobs.
Even if Trump has called for this 2 Trillion, its the expenditure cost to be used up until 2025, and right now nothing is going to start, cause there are more things required than just infrastructure. I am taking about basic essential needs, if every country goes for lockdowns on a longer period, we'll soon be out of food, and other resources at hand.

And besides, no one even knows when this whole infrastructure thing will even start, so I wouldn't keep my hopes up only based on this.
I'm less convinced about the manufacturing angle, although China's widespread defective medical products during this crisis was notable and could affect future demand for some Chinese-made products.
While, its a given that China is known for producing shit tier products, its still cheap, and that same reason is why every single country depends on them. If cost wasn't a factor, China would be long gone, same reason why most people still eat non-organic food.

Its going to take a lot, and expenses of trillions of dollars if any other country wants to emerge on top against Chinese markets. And right now, every country is suffering, while China is picking up bones and leftovers, and by the time this is over, and other countries reach a position to recover, China will be on top whether we like it or not.

272  Economy / Economics / Re: What N America and Europe need to start on now! on: April 03, 2020, 11:11:07 PM
Very unlikely to happen. Right now, the only concern that every single country has is to get rid of Covid-19 once and for all. And I don't see that happening, there are over a million cases as we speak, and the numbers don't seem to be going down. China, who thought that they stabilized the rise of Covid-19 cases, had 3000 new cases yesterday. And this won't end until there is a goddamn cure.

What you're suggesting is very unwise to do in midst of a pandemic. Sure, instead of relying on China, we get to start relying on ourselves, but at what cost? Any country tries to bring this proposal to the public, its gonna cause a mayhem. Maybe things could change after the pandemic is over, but until then bringing new people in to launch factories, dig up raw material is only going to make the Covid-19 pandemic worse.

As for the cost, trillions of dollars are being spent on this pandemic, its going to be a bloodbath coming out of this, every single country will have to basically do a fresh start, there is going to alot of layoffs, companies are going to vanish overnight, things are going to be more horrible, we just can't see it yet.
273  Economy / Reputation / Re: ibminer’s factually false, defamatory, and reputationally scandalous statement on: April 03, 2020, 10:13:13 PM
With all due thanks for your extensive personal advice, I must ask:  Why do we have a Reputation forum, if not for discussing reputational issues, and publicly settling such grievances as by their nature are best addressed in public, on the record?

I am not simply dismissing what you said:  It is a serious question.  For my part, I do not see any reason why I should hush up my complaint about the public defamation of me.  To the contrary, a part of the actual relief in actual courtroom defamation cases is to get everything out on the record in a public courtroom, so that a prevailing plaintiff can have it publicly demonstrated why he is right.  It can significantly enhance the repair of damage to one’s reputation; in some cases, it can be even more important than monetary damages, which may be nominal, infeasible to prove, or impossible to collect.
I'd agree to this if Ibminer actually defamed you. He didn't do any such thing, and you know it. Let's see what defamation means, I have bold-ed it out for you.

Defamation is the oral or written communication of a false statement about another that unjustly harms their reputation and usually constitutes a tort or crime.

Do you think there is a crime, or a tort going on here? Do you think ibiminer unjustly damaged your reputation? From what I can tell, no one but you are damaging your own reputation. You're giving very CH vibes, and posting big paragraphs when you can just say yes or no.

You can go around arguing about underage e-whore but you know its not going to matter, cause everyone is titled to their own opinion. Just like the whole cause of this whole thread, started because you didn't like someone's opinion towards you. Everyone can go around twisting words, but then what is the purpose of all this? Speak with ibminer and figure it out, the more people you involve in this, more people will give you their opinion, which would take you back to square 1.
274  Economy / Reputation / Re: ibminer’s factually false, defamatory, and reputationally scandalous statement on: April 03, 2020, 08:56:53 PM
You were one of the best members around when you were posting about "technical" stuff that actually matter but then out of a sudden you became so active in this board in a way that puts you a few topics away from being the next cryptohunter, obviously with better writing skills.

As far as DEMANDING the edition of a post, i wouldn't set my hopes too high, we barely get people to change their feedback, let alone edit a post, the way i see it is that ibminer seems like a reasonable dude, i am pretty sure the effect of a single-line PM would be stronger than this topic.
I agree with this. Nullius had a whole different reputation and status after he left, everyone thought he was different, witty, and a technical genius. And we wanted for nullius to return back, because more than half of the actual members of the forum practically loved him because he gave the vibes of old 2011 posters, which this forum had been lacking for ages. And now after his return, everything feels different.

Nullius, things wont be the same for you if go around demanding things, publishing pms, and going against DT members isn't going to help. You're better than that, and you know it. Back then, you handled the Alia situation much better, but now its getting quite the opposite. I get it, you're smart, but things won't be the same,  if the things you do keep being the same, it won't go so well. End your disputes privately, its better for everyone.
275  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: SOS.BInance going to adquire coinmarketcap - crypto MONOPOLIZATION on way on: April 03, 2020, 06:22:41 PM
Okay first off, I never thought of Binance acquiring coinmarketcap, and I started to wonder why when I saw this thread, but reading the article, CoinMarketCap has twice the amount of visitors(207 million in the last 6 months) as opposed to Binance having 113 million visitors.

Overall, good move, but the article also says Binance has been on an acquisition spree, and have apparently hired at least 9 firms in the last year, and that's lot considering how apolcalyptic the market has been. And now that the whole coronavirus pandemic has caused what no one expected to, I don't know if spending 400 Million on acquiring CoinMarketCap is the way to go. Not that the pandemic has anything to do with this, but I assure you the aftermath of this is going to rain shit and piss all over the global market, and that 400 Million would be more worth to invest somewhere.

CZ is smart, so if he is actually persistant on this deal, he has better plans in his mind. He's either going to rip Cmc into pieces, or he's going to fully Binance-ize whole of CMC.
276  Other / Meta / Re: Suggestion for reporting posts on: April 02, 2020, 11:47:28 PM
What I would like (and what was discussed in iasenko's thread he linked to) would be an indicator to show if I have already reported a post. Most of my "bad" reports are from unintended duplicate reports for spam. Once you've reported enough barely coherent one or two line nonsense, it all blends in to one, and I find myself forgetting which posts I've read and reported before.

In terms of a warning for the user, I would like that too but only if it was actually backed up with some sort of temporary ban. There are several users chronic spammers I have reported dozens of times, and no further action is ever taken against them.
I do agree, the reporting system is a mess, put decently. And there's clear sense of frustration from some users, things have been the same around here for years now. Things need to change. Or as we fear, soon people will start caring more about their IRL stuff than the forum. The motivating factor is lacking way too much, and something needs to be done about it as well.,

suchmoon's script ([HACK] One-click mod report, not for the faint of heart) essentially provides this, albeit it entirely customizable so the user can define their own buttons. Perhaps some optional forum generated ones would be a nice way to encourage people to start reporting, who otherwise may feel intimidate or unsure about the whole thing.
I have come across this, but I also know not a lot of reporters use this. Probably because it is not official. I like the script, but we can only go so long by using scripts.

I am just too damn desperate to see the new forum, but there's zero hope out there for it to be out.

278  Economy / Exchanges / Re: The Binance card is here on: March 27, 2020, 11:55:43 PM
I don't know if this is a good thing or not, while binance releasing the card is somewhat of a welcome change, I do fear the KYC verification that is to potentially soon follow.

Although this seems promising, possibly a new turn towards all bitcoin based debit cards, I am especially interested to see how this is going to turn out.

Anyone know what the fees will be?
Apparently, there are no fees:

You just transfer 15 USD worth of BNB or BTC to your card balance, and we'll process your order. We don't charge any monthly or annual fees.

I'd like to know who their card partner is. Binance have so many things in the air I'm not sure I trust them to do their due diligence. I can imagine it might go the same way as Wavecrest cards and shut down without any notice unless they've done it right.
Somehow Binance managed to partner up with VISA??

Your card will then use this balance for your card payments and automatically deduct all expenses from the balance every time you make payment. The Binance Card is issued by Visa and accepted by more than 46 million merchants offline and online in 200 regions and territories, which makes shopping with crypto easier than ever before.

Also, what are you guys' thoughts on this, will you use it if its made available worldwide?
279  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Can't Contact Coinbase outside of Android App on: March 27, 2020, 11:37:14 PM
Here's a screenshot of the issue I am having on Windows 10 and Chromebook in both Chrome and Firefox:

That screenshot was taken on March 8th and I am still having the issue as of today. At that time I was trying to reach a real person from phone or chat unsuccessfully, so the screenshot shows they have an circular loop issue with the AI assistant not recognizing this as a type of problem.
Weird. I just tried to see if I have the same error, I didn't. The third pop down menu works, regardless of what I select, and then subsequently the 4th pop down menu.

Screenshot:

If it doesn't work, try contacting them on reddit, like how Bl4nkcode mentioned.

Have you tried contacting their twitter??

280  Other / Meta / Re: Suggestion for reporting posts on: March 27, 2020, 10:49:21 PM
My suggestion, if a post is reported then could the report to moderator option be removed from the reported post? This way multiple users are not reporting the same posts as well as moderators do not have to look at the same report over and over. Seems like it would be a better system.
Okay no, it would work in an ideal reality, unfortunately this ain't it. Along with what o_e_l_e_o and iasenko highlighted, I think what might possibly help is some sort of an indicator perhaps? Say if someone has got 5 posts deleted by the mods in the past 1 week, so his account has a small caution tag which advises the user to post carefully. This indicator could be either shown to all logged in users, or say frequent reporters(like those who have 300+ reported posts).

Also, the reporting procedure should provide some sort of possible options in the reporting menu. Let's say a post has a url tag in it, then the report page automatically shows a button which displays as "Link contains malware" and the user can click it and the report will be sent. Or if the post contains a pic, the report menu will have an auto-generated button for reporting NSFW images, or if a post contains more than 2 paragraphs, a button for plagiarism perhaps. All these could be like extra suggestions to help out the user, the main reporting text area will still be the same. I know this has been suggested before, but it doesn't hurt to suggest again.
