True. I almost wonder if just buying the price upward with a couple hundred bucks would just be better off than messing with renting. I don't want to use BTC to rent right now, I'd rather use a Visa card. Looks like that still isn't an option.

I think buying/supporting and holding longterm is the better option than renting hash, when it comes to making it more resilient.
That's a topic for discussion of course but i don't see a lot of sense in renting hash opposed to lifting the price in the longterm.
Renting is just 'you mining it'. Higher price is 'everyone mining it'.
My 2 cents.

That being said, Uno is still one of only a hand full of merge mined coins and has a higher hash than 98% of these other altcoins.

edit: don't be discouraged from renting hash though, it's also a good thing to do. Not sure my conclusions are 100% correct. You got to weigh the options yourself. Likely depends on how you look at it.

Better price = more hash

46  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: IDEAL: no ICOs, no proof-of-work, no proof-of-stake, no governance, and no forks on: June 26, 2016, 10:00:06 PM
have to add: one needs to make a distinction between a cryptocurrency (higher inflation for circulation in business) and a cryptocommodity (lower inflation for value storage with less volume in the markets and less circulation). These are two different valid money-animals in their own right. Apart from that these other (ico)toycoins and tokens shouldn't be looked at as real currency or commmodity because most will be gone in a few weeks and nobody can remember them.

Bitcoin isn't a currency; it's a commodity btw.

The community really needs to discuss what makes a coin a valid money and what properties and requirements and also priorities money has. This crypto-thing is about value store and medium of exchange; it's not about "innovation going nowhere", "adding more features", "good marketing and roadmap" and "littering the landscape with abandoned projects"

Please make crypto great already! No more ponzi-presale-scams! Fuck overrating of innovation - it's broken 'innovation' in 99,99% of cases (aka 'no innovation at all')

Ultimately a simple, resilient, viable and fair coin is to prefer to a complex, hyped, new and broken coin for the longterm investors.  People need to use the brain more.
This is software based on math that needs to be secure and new tech needs vetting and auditing - and a lot of that, this is not dishwashers or radios where more features are always better and simple to roll out.

edit: don't see a problem with margin-exchange. It just adds a little more volatility but won't affect the overall valuation of the coin. It's just more noise, no issue with that.

edit2: governance is only possible through consensus - in the literal sense of the word, not only machine-consensus; a majority vote is not that. Projects governed by 50%+1 majority votes will 100% fail in the long run. Yes, 100%.
The only way of governance is by consensus or 90% majority-votes. Why it is this way is a topic for a large article about history of mankind and money and dynamics in power aswell as observations in politics.
It's not as easy as people think. People aren't aware of the pitfalls of majority votes. They will have to fail for 10 or 20 years in these coins before understanding what some know already. Such is life Smiley

Uno was among the stronger coins today. Made +7% against the $ while others dropped up to 30% in price.

Hey, Balu.  Haven't seen you in awhile.  ... actually, takes me way back... to last summer when you and Gecko had that feud about buying at .006 ...

Ehh... no big deal... Good to see ya.  Hope all is well.

Hey Z. I'm active on and off. Right now in the volatility a bit more again.
You didn't see me for a whole year? Really?
48  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: in your business do you accept only Bitcoin or Altcoins too? on: June 13, 2016, 02:47:14 AM
This service enables businesses to accept dozens of altcoins with not much hassle. They'll pay the business owner out in whatever he wants, i think. Funny nobody mentioned it so far. It has been around for a very long time.

I like the way you think balu... Lets be friends.  Grin

Yeah, let's be friends until i dump a sack on you or buy the coins you panicsell before it goes up 6 times.  Grin

edit: promo is great though. Thank you for adding value to the coin. Grassroot promo is what really matters.

And we just crossed the MA to the north  Smiley

Seems like when bitcoin gets even a slight bit bearish people start to hedge money in uno? or maybe someone is just playing around with the bittrex market. or a new investor. lol

Personally i think there will be another epic altcoin-pump this year. I know others think like that too. It's in the cards and Uno will not be left out in the cold when that happens  Wink

Or at least that's what i like keep telling myself.  Cheesy

Yep I think as-long as we can deal with the big vern issue effectively the golden age is not too far off.  Cool

The Vern-issue is the past. The coins are now with a much more reliable player than Vern and will probably be bought by the community next year which could cause a temporary dip of 10% or 20% from the then price which will recover fairly quickly. After that is done we're going permabull on ya Wink

You'd have to be very lucky to get coins cheaper than this current price i think. Just my 2 cents.

edit: while all of you drown in 'fear, uncertainty and doubt' we're probably in for a correction up soon, in my opinion.

Some great ideas being shared here. Thank you!

~~

Sorry if I missed this if/when it was posted but are the Cryptsy addresses the #1 and #5 addresses on the rich list? Both had activity 10 days and 22 hours ago.

https://chainz.cryptoid.info/uno/#!rich

Yeah, I don't quite understand that.  The #5 wallet is the old #1 wallet at Bittrex (i/e the UNO stolen from Cryptsy and transferred to Bittrex).
The new #1 wallet is the UNO transferred back to the control of the Cryptsy conservator.

Somehow, there was 15K transferred to the new #1 wallet. 10K came from the Bittrex wallet, but 5K came from elsewhere, and so 5K still remains in the Bittrex wallet (the former #1, now the #5 UNO wallet). I don't know why it happened like that. Maybe Bittrex had a reason to retain 5K Uno in that wallet, and moved the other 5K from elsewhere. Anyone care to venture a guess?

#5 would be bittrex coldstore and "elsewhere" the 5k came from would be all the hot wallets (which can be verified by the tx).
Around 5k (give or take a few) is also what the bittrex distribution tab shows they should have. I'm fairly sure if an Uno-whale wanted to withdraw a ton from trex he or she would draw on that exact #5 wallet.
On the other side bittrex hotwallets should be fairly empty right now.

Edit: the tx from bittrex to the cryptsy receiver shows two things:
1) Uno is fungible
2) Bittrex is solvent when it comes to Uno

Offers nothing Bitcoin didn't offer 5 years ago already.

Buyer beware with this one.

But how do i make a shitton of money off this though ?
cos if that's not part of the ...

yeah i'll just leave now, bye

One day people will understand that only merge mined coins are resilient coins and actually are real coins therefore because even if they are cheap they will survive much longer than most other things that are around.
I for one like merge mined coins because i think they have somewhat of a future as this coin actually proves. It's a ancient coin, still running.
Fuck the Hype-crap. Slow but real growth is much better. It's less risky.
