another coin that teaches us: don't buy altcoins

maybe don't even buy bitcoin.
Very sad.

Suff gets released and is going nowhere ... too often ...

it's going to dry up even more than it is already for everybody because of that.

All your failing coins will affect your income on the not-yet-failed coins too. I hope you understand that.
643  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I'm so tired of seeing the complaint on block confirmation times. Here's why. on: December 27, 2014, 10:25:26 PM
Litecoin is faster.
If you need to send money quick: use not bitcoin

647  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: List of SHA-256 coins on: December 27, 2014, 09:49:58 PM
Peercoin.

There are no "currently hot sha256 coins", this statement includes Bitcoin itself.
The point regarding pure POW sha256 coins is blockchain security against fork attacks. Peercoin is safe since it is additionally secured by staking. Small coins cannot rely on any algorithms where monster supplies based on ASIC technology do exist.

I know peercoin has been around for a while, so that's a plus, I think.  I'll look into this one.  Also, I think I understand your point about easy forking attacks against a new coin because of asic resources.

On, unobtainium, I'll look into this one as well.  I have to admit, the name sounds like a joke from sci-fi, but maybe there's more to it than that.

there's much more to it and there is a shit load of background behind the brand too. It lives up to its name.  Wink

obviously i'm a fan Smiley
no, seriously it's a superior coin in every way.
Deserves a good look.
648  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Let's Fork Bitcoin To Bitcoin-POS on: December 27, 2014, 09:45:00 PM
Thanks for the responses. It is now clear that I have no ability to communicate whatsoever.

I don't want to launch another altcoin. And I'm not trying to "fix" bitcoin. I just wanted a fork so that people who are pro-POS can go there and stop creating a new thread every week saying "Why can't bitcoin be POS?" As for not making it POS, obviously if it's not POS then it doesn't accomplish that goal.

I looked for bitcoin plus (xbc). Thanks for pointing it out. I had no idea about it. But that wasn't a fork of the bitcoin block chain. If it were, I would have coins in their block chain and would be able to sell them now.

I guess the purpose behind people starting "Why can't bitcoin be POS?" threads every week really has nothing to do with the poster wanting bitcoin to be POS. Otherwise they'd be doing what this thread suggests. It would be easy to do.

Now if you'll excuse me I'm going to do something more productive: drink myself into a stuper and yell at brick walls in broken French. FFS.

forking the blockchain with the current state and same privatekeys and adresses could be an interesting experiment. Potentially pisses some people off big time but i like that idea  Grin

Distribution will be nice. Valuation will be interesting.

xbt was a presale back then so that can't be compared with your idea. I like that idea now that i understand it (i  hope)

You talking about taking a snapshot of bitcoin blockchain and forking that to pos, right?
If you have a good team of developers you could potentially get some traction with that.
649  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Blocknet, Etherium or Maidsafe - which is the best? on: December 27, 2014, 09:39:47 PM
if you like to put trust in people in this business i won't stop you from investing in coins with suspicous high volume on the shady presales.

I'm investing in trustless coins only.

What ever you say doesn't make a difference. If it was any kind of presale which was purchased with cryptocurrency you have to trust there was no selfbuy. I'm too old for that naivity.

go get some super innovative coins dumped on you. Is fun, i promise.

I'll vote for die because initial distribution was crap but ripple will die before that one  does.

3 overly complicated and for decades bugged and soon insignificant because never finished projects? Which is best?

MaidSafe is currently in Test Net 2, which will be completed the coming week. Test Net 3 will be faster than than Test Net 2, and will likely not take longer than 2 months. After that the BETA, which I think will take 2-3 months, and then Launch:

http://maidsafe.net/roadmap

You can click on the different phases to see completion of individual features.

Anyway, all is open source and it's already possible to take part in the current test nets and use the current features. I've studied the source for a bit and it's very clean with high standards. The accusation of it being bugged for decades and never finished can only come from someone who didn't give MaidSafe a serious look.

a presale scam remains that. Innovation doesn't help you when your initial  distribution was unfair or fraudulent even. Before anyone can buy any of these coins they would need to make incredible research to verify it wasn't a fraud but you will never have proof it was none. So i think a presale actually makes the coin deadborn no matter how nice it is.

I don't care about innovative presale scams. Too high risk, no transparency, big fraud possible. So, no i'm not getting involved with the presale-scams.

You can never/rarely proof  it's a scam and you can absolutely never proof the contrary. So why get involved with your hard earned money? Been scammed enough. Just go away.

I stick to coins with fair and transparent distribution. PERIOD!
655  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MEOW] KittehCoin Relaunch IS HERE!!!! on: December 27, 2014, 07:06:25 PM
@majsta

don't fork to less reward. This rewardschedule is very good already. The inflation is not to high now and in 3 months it  will be very low. So that's not the problem. Reducing reward will hurt the network.
Please don't change those fundamentals. They are already better than most other coins.  Wink

Inflation in meow is reasonable imo.

We should focus on marketing.

This is 1 year old coin with community and already low inflation. This  can have a future.

look for 'bitcoin plus' (xbt or xbc)

is done already. Failed in summer.
You want to do it again? Seriously?

Your proposition was done months ago and failed miserably.
