2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Diamond (DMD) Evolution v 2.0 | NEW wallet, coin mechanics, 50% POS on: June 05, 2014, 02:54:34 PM
Though the changes have to be made on the diamond kernel file as we cannot longer use the kernel groestcoin.cl for DMD mining. Anyone who knows how to implement the changes? Danbi maybe?

the kernel is the same, you can copy it over.
the changes are in sgminer C code.

Well aint that sweet?! Thanks Pallas!
I first tried to just change the -k switch from '-k diamond' to '-k groestlcoin'. That only gave me a lot of rejects because of low difficulty target. When I now instead tried to rename the kernel to diamond.cl (and changing the name of the regular DMD kernel to something else)...voila, works perfect!
Now running a steady 12.74mhs per Gigabyte 280x card. That is a 65% improvement.

This is the link for SRCXXX modified kernel: https://mega.co.nz/#!9MAAHQJL!cqvdNfIeqcD39AZgvalgcGRKvS5U44xYTtlAZXqUi1U
remove your bin files and restart the miner.

If you got a faster running rig with his kernel, please consider donating:

* donate GRS to Groestlcoin project: FYEAbFBG3xY5VUtE9GXC56v5UKt4xkoUkb
* send BTC to SRCXXX private account: 1NpEXJvoLSG99m3d1vpM7tHx8uXkksf7wL

I just sent a BTC equivalent of 10 DMD. Not much but if everyone that benefits from this improvement did the same...

WOW! Is every update from AMD going to be like this?! AWESOME!!!

I was doing 7.7MHS with my Gigabyte 280x before (Catalyst 14.2) and by simply uninstalling and installing the new drivers I am doing 12.1MHS. No other changes. That is an amazing increase by 57%!

Ive seen on the GRS forums that ppl were very happy to reach 11.1MHS with same cards. And I did notice that I did something different by accident. When I uninstalled the old drivers I used the AMD removal tool (has worked really good for me) and before installing the new driver I installed the same APP SDK as I had used before, version 2.8. I did notice that some people are using the newer version of that 2.9 although Im no expert to say that is where the trick is. Though as the APP SDK is (as far as I unstand it) the OpenGL drivers, it should benefit from the updated version. And now that Im digging a little I notice that the 2.9 version was released in Nov last year, which is after I started mining, so prob I downloaded the old version from an unofficial source.
I also dont have ADL SDK installed as a poster on GRS forum suggests.

I way to tired to play around with this at this moment. But I have some things to look at to see if I can juice them even more.

Oh, and the cards are at 61 degrees Celsius (one at 69) and I am running a Win 7 64bit machine.

More updates to come!
got lost... what's your point ? should we use the 2.9 version or the 2.8 ?

Sorry for my messy post from last night. I was already waay too tired to sit at the computer.
I did some testing today and I see no change what so ever between using APP SDK 2.8 and 2.9. A good guess is that its included in the Catalyst driver pack so I was using the latest version anyway.

Thanks for the tip srcxxx Smiley

Hi Guys!

Don't know if you are aware or not, but there are two news for all "Groestl" coins:

1) AMD 14.6 beta driver has massive hashrate increase. About 1.5X. R9 290 is now 15MHs, R9 280X is now 11.4MHs.

2) There is an Android miner for Groestl.

(You can check last few pages of Groestlcoin thread if you want details)

srcxxx (Groestlcoin dev)

No problem. Also see here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=475795.msg7139942#msg7139942
(another 8%, now 16.2 MH/s on R9 290)

Improvements are always welcome! I did try your modified kernel and it did give me a 5.4% boost, from 12.08mhs to 12.74mhs (Gigabyte 280x). Though the changes have to be made on the diamond kernel file as we cannot longer use the kernel groestcoin.cl for DMD mining. Anyone who knows how to implement the changes? Danbi maybe?
And, SRCXXX, I will be sending a small donation as soon as my GRS wallet is up and running. (having sync problems because of nodes with old wallets)

How do you use "that cash" to support the price? What cash? Share with us your knowledge of how this can be done.

This is the last time I'm humoring the community on this (or even dealing with the issue for that matter - whoever hasn't woken up to this by now, never will). If you don't see my point, or don't care to address it, then that's your problem, but it's obvious that if you have a coin that you've taken over and (okay, I'm not going to be negative so I'll put as positive a spin on this as I can) it's not exactly running smoothly (with price falling by over 2/3, and various unresolved technical issues still plaguing you after having a difficult changeover, and still only one functional pool running, and still only one exchange . . . I think I'll leave it at that so as not to over do it) you don't go on vacation, and you certainly don't flaunt a high end, "sailing at sea" vacation.

Do you really need me to share my knowledge regarding your question? How much would a "sailing at sea" vacation cost you? Who can afford that kind of vacation? A regular middle class everyday Joe? (Only if he just made one big killing selling something special.  Wink ) Someone who has a considerable net worth? (Could also be someone spending to their credit's limit, of course, so let's just say someone with access to easy money.) Does this answer your "what cash" question? If he's sailing at sea, he's not doing it for free.

Whether it's borrowed, taken from personal savings, from windfall proceeds, whatever the case, if the funds are as disposable as those for a high end vacation, they would be better directed at supporting the price of the coin . . . unless he doesn't take any of this serious at all.

How do you do that?

BY BUYING!!!

Question answered?

After all, isn't it this same "Chief Visionary Officer" who spends so much time telling others not to sell, but to hold, and to buy, and that in the long run it will be worth it?

As I said, if it were me, in the same situation, I'd be putting my money where my mouth is.

BTW, it saddens me to think that you are unable to recognize and appreciate my contributions, and if you only think technical contributions qualify, and want to go back and see some of my technical contributions from early on, I'm sorry that you might have it a bit difficult doing so because you'll need to ask the moderator who deleted perhaps one of the most important technical contributions made . . . and I know it wasn't deleted by accident.

Open you eyes.

C'mon HR. Now you are making assumptions based on nothing and firing them at innocent people.

1) Cryptonit is clearly not an native english speaker. So assume he does not live in your fancy American bubble, maybe Europe where things are different.
2) Why would Cryptonit's sail-trip be classed as vacation?
Quote
if ya wonder why im so silent next few days im away on a sailing trip
my foundation position was never designed as communication person

He could be a sailing instructor on the ship. As far as I know he has not specified his main source of income.
He could be doing civilian military service that is 2 weeks refresh/drill exercises at high sea every 5 years (Yes, I did Navy Military Service)
He could be spending time with his family that has their own boat. It might be so much part of the local culture that basically "everyone" (70% of ppl in my greater neighborhood) owns a boat, cause they live by the sea and have been boat owners for generations. It is also common to borrow your family boat to go with your own close family (wife and kids) to many nearby locations where you either sleep in the boat itself or on rustic houses made out of wood with no electricity (as its the archipelago). Wind and sun is offered still free of charge in Europe, thus making this trip cheaper then going to Spain by RyainAir and staying at a 3 star hotel. Just for you to compare costs.

So to consider sailing as altogether high-end is just ignorant accusation.

3) Why wouldn't he be able to remove himself from the daily activity at this point? He has stated he is not a communication person and that he does not have the programming skills needed for "hacking the code". The persons with that knowledge are working on the new wallet and the POS feature. They have reported great success and are on final polishing mode to address smaller (but still relevant) problems (as staking 30k DMD). He is not needed in that phase thus making it ideal situation to have a breather and change of scenery.

The fact is that they, the Dev team, have a clear idea of where they want to take this. They have setup goals and are crossing them off as they go.
We know that POS is collecting coin-age at this point that will be usable in the close future.
We know there will be a new wallet released soon.
We know DMD is the only coin that have forked from Scrypt into Groestl algo.
We know there will be a hard-fork to address some structural changes.
We know that Groestl is the most energy efficient algo out there today.

4) What money? Since the blocks stopped at 386228 (exactly 1 month ago) there has been 37719 new blocks (until just right now) at a 5% foundation fee it will total to 1885 DMD (until just right now). Lets assume an average sell price of 0.00075000 (which is high, since the exchange rate has been lower than that half of the time) that makes up 1.4 Bitcoins that has to firstly cover any expenses the foundation has (web-hosting, electricity, hardware etc) and then go to salary and then the rest to "Cryptonits high-end vacation".

HR, you accusations are totally wild and not backed by any evidence or information. Though the effect that you cause throwing these accusations around will harm the coin tremedously as not everyone has the time, dedication or interest to dig into the facts. Its enough they see the accusations and they move on to the next coin. I know you are a smart person, you have already proved that in the past. Which makes me think that you are bashing the coin to buy in at low prices. Which would be dirty tricks if correct.

I do agree that information sometimes is scarce but not to the point where people should panic. The Devs are working on the solution and it is moving forward. Though things need to be done at the right time and mainly in the right order. First release the new wallet, then comparison sites (coinwarz etc), Coin marketing (website, blogs, cryptocoinnews) and then new exchanges as demand grow.

This is all compiled information from this thread. I do not have any inside information nor know any of the dev team.

es the DMD Dev team have anyone in charge of "External Relations". Could be a position to manage the contact with (meaning slightly harassing) Exchanges, Comparision websites (whattomine, CoinWarz) and bloggers/crypto-websites. And not to forget that there should be a good contact with the devs of Groestl coin so that any issue is adressed swiftly and accurately.

what sence would a foundation make if its not focusing on such tasks  Cool

we active in all that directions but we follow a priority plan

and pre mintpal we want to have the new wallet released

get traded at mintpall will add momentuum we aim to combine positive effects

chances are existing we dont have to go trough the voting process

as old coin in new clothes we deserve to be there and lot people with connections share that opinion

we will trigger that connections in time

go trough voting is plan b

and prepare that by spend some clicks sure is helpfull too

whattomine list us (and high ranked)

coinwarz didnt last time i checked and we wrote another mail to them

Im happy to hear this. Shows that you are thinking things true and working in the right direction.

PS: I finally made it work, 5 blocks found so far. Payouts work ok.

Great news, you got it working.

I don't really understand why people get so many rejects from stratum at dmdpool.digsys.bg -- my miners get virtually zero rejects. Perhaps --no-submit-stale will help?

I thought of that No-submit-stale switch and did add it. Though it only stops the miner from sending it to the stratum (in vain). The actual share is still unusable (stale) although it does not show up on the Pool dashboard...and CGwatcher will still keep a record of it. The truth is still that 4% of the shares I create are of no use. Resulting in me only running at 96% of my capacity. I suspect that the problem is primarily on the location of the server, which probably is quite far from me. Though I am not requesting you to move it Wink as it probably suits a hell of a lot of other people. My second guess would be the exceptional workload that your server receives as you currently host 80% of poolminers.
Im saying all this without knowing your specifics, but the main point being that the problem is not yours to solve Smiley As more pools arise and ppl start spreading the hash it will all auto-correct.

Great work! Ive been following Groestlcoin also and recognize you from there. Happy to see your interest in DMD.
I joined the pool and saw that I get no Invalid Shares here as compared to Danbi's where I had around 4%. I guess Amsterdam is closer.......to my heart! Wink

Can anyone come up with anything similar from other sources?

BTW:

What's the status with getting DMD listed on MintPal?

I have held on firmly to my right not to join a non-working exchange. Thus I have never had an account at Crapsy and I have never had my money frozen/lost/neglected. I have tried several exchanges and most of them are stable. I do like MintPal a lot as I perceive them to be very quick with both deposits and removal of funds, apart from having good activity on all of their markets. I will start voting for them to add DMD. But currently it has 300 votes and is on place number 190. Number one has 19k votes. So it wont happen over night.

damn now i must format, because even after i revert back to the old 13.2 my hashrate is still at 50%, fuck amd

Have you tried their removal program? Worked for me. http://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/AMD-Clean-Uninstall-Utility.aspx
Remeber to also reinstall AMD APP SDK.

i tried that but it stop at raptr.msi , tell me is missing, because in fact i have unistalled thath file, because i installed it for a mistake

i deleted everything in regedit also, but even after re-installing 13.2 the problem remain

sdk isn't already included?

If you didnt uninstall SDK then it should still be there. Though if you run the AMD Removal program it will remove all the AMD programs including SDK.
Weird that the uninstall programs hang there. I mean if the file does not exist it should move on to remove the next thing on its list.
I used the program and tried different driver versions untill i found the right one. Currently mining on algo Groestl with my Gigabyte 280x and on the forums ppl were talking about the 14.2 version which gave me the max expected speed of 7.7 Mhs.

I've just tryed mining some x11 with my 280x and I get only 1.6Mh/s and I should be getting like 2.2Mh/s. I've got a "standard" config. You guys think it could be ATI drivers fault? I've tryed many miners and its all the same.

I do not know x11 from personal experience. What I do know is that every brand makes small changes to the hardware thus requiring brand specific settings. With a "standard" config you will most probably not reach your cards maximum output. Add your brandname (PowerColor, Gigabyte, HIS, Asus, MSI, Sapphire) to your model and google it to compare what other ppl with same brand use as config. Look for which driver version they used to reach their stated speed. Start there and also keep in mind that you might want to test your way to improve those settings. There will always be different conditions on every computer such as motherboard and RAM-speed.

Hope this points you in the right direction.

Since your's appears to be working & getting accepted shares, are there any other miners out there to point some hashing at the pool to test with more hash power?

Please point it at the pool if you have spare working groestl miners as I'd like to see what the results are with more miners.

Good, then it wasnt only me getting rejects. Now we know that.
And they will keep getting it wrong until they get it right (duh!). So Ahmed, we are at your disposal as soon as there are any new changes in your code. Keep up the good work!

Hi,
I just had to sign up to add to this discussion. Was getting a bit frustrated with some ppls unability to understand the complexity of things.

Guys, some positive attitude please. They are trying their best to fix this. I managed to connect. What you have to do is change the "stratum+tcp://" for "http://". The stratum is acting weird remember.

@Ahmed: Im logged on but i get all rejects or stale. States "target-miss". Hopefully that helps your troubleshooting.
And if I understand correctly, you are trying to set up a P2pool? I could prob run a node if you got all the software working Wink Im on a solid connection in Northern Europe.

And the increase in hashpower could come from vultures that see a weak network where no one is mining. That's a definition of a party Wink
