1  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Anyone willing to help a newbie? I can't get my S9 working on: March 15, 2021, 03:53:23 PM
Sorry - clarification: do you mean that all three hashboards must run off 1 psu, or that each hashboard separately must have at least one PSU? (meaning, I can't use two PSUs on a single board, which is what I think you meant...)

I guess from a simpler standpoint: I have two boards functioning now. If I get a second PSU and connect it to the third board via a separate outlet, that could power the third board and get all three hashing without needing a 220v outlet, correct?

Philipma - that fixed it! Thank you so much.

Is there any way to run all three boards from a standard US 110V outlet? I feel like if I'm only getting 9 TH I should have bought a cheaper unit... Is there any use to getting an apw7 psu?

I think I spoke too soon... I mine for about 2-3 minutes, then the miner gets an error. There is a solid red fault light, which isn't covered in troubleshooting on bitmain's website that I can find. Rebooting doesn't seem to help.

Here is the kernel:

Seems to me it may be a network connection issue. I am currently using a powerline extender as no ethernet ports in the garage - so if that is the cause I can try using a wifi to ethernet adapter.

So the network connection was the issue, hardwiring off the powerline extension has solved it and I'm currently running at 30 minutes without a failure. Thanks!

Can someone give me help on the PSU situation? I would prefer to get all three hashboards working but not sure that is an option off of a single 110V US outlet.

I have considered getting a apw7 unit, but I cannot determine if that would fix the issue or not, I currently think not.  Is there any option to running the third board off of a second PSU from another outlet? I'm not finding much instruction online about this so would appreciate if anyone could chime in.
3  Bitcoin / Mining support / Anyone willing to help a newbie? I can't get my S9 working on: March 12, 2021, 01:11:51 AM
I finally found an old S9j I decided to use for solo mining as a lottery. I've set the thing up in my garage but can't get it to hash. None of the online tutorials are that helpful because they consist of "do this step" without explaining how or making the assumption that the step will be successful. I have no clue where I even went wrong on this.

I have an APW3++ power source using a 110V standard us outlet. I have successfully hooked it up to the ethernet and can access the configuration settings.

Actual GH is reporting as 0 after 2 hours. I am using CK's solo pool and my miner doesn't register as an active user on that network.

Network settings: DHCP protocol. I found something on bitmain's site about changing this to static. Do I need to do this? What are the gateway and DNS server fields then?

Pool settings: I have URL set to "stratum+tcp://solo.ckpool.org:3333" and worker as my BTC wallet address.

Firmware is updated to most recent on bitmain's page.

Asic status has 0s for all the chips. Fans are both working and unit is not overheating.

Anyone able to assist? I'm not even sure how to troubleshoot it at this point.

FYI due to camping reasons I'll be out of easy internet access for the next week. If the raffle closes prior to that I'm not ignoring you, just can't login.

I'll take 5 slots for the $88. I don't care which but last time I had 42 which was pretty sweet.

If the issue is that it lingered on for 3 weeks, maybe you just need to get word out? I only stumbled across it because I was looking for something else. Maybe try posting on reddit or other platforms and see if you can get some people interested - like advertising, but free...

Could someone post a sample .bat file about how to set up a single miner to cycle between different pools? ie, I'd like it to mine partly on the solo pool for part of the day, then switch to the pooled pool for another part of the day. Just as a workaround until I get a second unit. The FAQ in cgminer lists the options but not how to actually type them in, and none of my attempts have worked.

Can't wait to do 2Tb with my 20 Newpacs and this unit about 250watts or so?

I have setup 2 200watt solar panels and 200ah battery in my shed, I will be using solar to mine Smiley

This sounds awesome. Doing this off solar or wind has always been a fascination of mine. You mind sharing the equipment you use and how you set it all up?

Along the lines of discussion above, will any of the resellers be able to provide power supplies?

I've always used USB ports and DC adapters because it's easy and I'm a dunce. Sounds like these will force me to up my game a bit.

Nope. I meant first.  Wink

Are you even checking their channels? IRM is providing important news immediately, I don't know any other company doing this like IRM.

I responded to you but my post got erased.

I'm liquidating my position as I don't have confidence in this group any longer.

Does anyone know if there are instructions on gaining access to and cashing out the rock 2pay tokens? All I have found so far is that dumb video posted which has a huge wall of code from somewhere that I haven't found.

I'm not joining the telegram group out of principle so that isn't an option.
17  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience Terminus R808 Miner Official Support Thread on: December 04, 2018, 03:44:46 PM
I think that's an issue I ran into earlier when I was trying to run all 4 of my pods off a pi. Never could get it working and I had to split it between 2 Pi's.

Anyone know if there is a way to figure out bandwith from both internet usage (I use a wireless connection) and USB traffic to calculate where I would get into trouble? I don't like doing it by trial and error and realizing I have to buy new equipment halfway through.
18  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience Terminus R808 Miner Official Support Thread on: December 04, 2018, 05:54:33 AM
No I just have the barrel connector that came with it. It's loose at the part where it connects to the pod.

I'm interested in the pin connector. Looks like more work and cost but may be better for my last little guy.  I ordered a few and he's the last one standing. I upgraded the fans, so maybe a power supply is next. You have or know of a tutorial for how to set that up?

I'm also going to start a setup with a bunch of newpacs. My goal would be getting them and the terminus running off a single pi.
19  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Announcing GekkoScience's new USB stick miner, the aptly-named NewPac on: December 04, 2018, 05:47:52 AM
With these sticks, a little bit of cooling goes a long long way. Note that the uncooled 100MHz power draw and the slightly-cooled 200MHz power draw are pretty much the same. My six 650MHz sticks (drawing 14W each) were collectively cooled by a single 12V/200mA fan.

Also note that these guys can be sensitive to extended overheating. Bake the chips too much and they may never work right again.

So is there a failsafe anyone has figured out for this? I can't monitor the miners 24/7. If the fan goes kaputsky for whatever reason and suddenly the temp spikes, is there any way to tell it to turn off instead of roasting itself alive?
20  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience NewPac Stickminer Official Support Thread on: November 15, 2018, 03:38:42 AM
Looking to get about 10 of these. Any recommendations on a powered hub i can look into?

Plan to run off a raspberry pi if it will accomodate that much.
