241  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Pegged vs. Destructive Side Chains on: November 06, 2014, 04:15:51 AM
do destructive side-chain still works if at some point in the future the bitcoin address schmeme needs to be updated due to security flaws?

it would be bad if the whole world thinks that there are only 2m btc left but in reality an attacker "mining btc addresses" could restore them back to the main chain years in the future...

i dont know exactly how sidechains are supposed to work tough, maybe thats an non-issue
Bitcoin will have legacy support for old addresses due to people using cold storage. Destructive chains are not pegged with bitcoins but are bootstrapped with bitcoins at their genesis. I'm not a fan of the Destructive chain concept, but I believe they are inevitable because parasites serve the purpose of keeping a system strong and that greed will always motivate some people to be parasites.

Legacy Addresses:
Yes Bitcoin will likely support "old" addresses if a weakness is found. but that still means that coins send to old addresses could be recovered by someone in the future. my question is if the sidechain feature (the new opcode to be specific) would have a problem with that.

Destructive sidechains not pegged:
i dont really understand this point. if the sidechain is not pegged (eg i cant move btc to sidecoins and back) why do it in the first place? wouldnt it make more sense to just develop a new coin and let its genesis distribute some premined coins?

Why should he be free to do this and I am not free to do the same?

of course you are free to do the same as armis.
but i dont trust armis, but i do trust you: just think a moment why Wink

244  Local / Presse / Re: heise.de: "Bitcoin-Brothers": Berliner Startup will das Mining umkrempeln on: November 05, 2014, 08:42:43 PM

onemorebtc can you please explain me your signature?

see my pm
246  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency (mandatory upgrade) on: November 05, 2014, 06:35:57 PM
I accidentially pasted one of my XMR addresses in the google search bar and the following pastebin came up:

http://pastebin.com/LEhABQcu

Just out of curiosity: Could someone in the know tell me what it shows and why my address would show up there?

I only use it for mining.

Thanks

my guess: your pool op made a pastebin of a connection error to show it to someone Wink
247  Local / Altcoins (Deutsch) / Re: Blocknet - Wer von euch ist dabei? Und warum? on: November 03, 2014, 03:06:34 AM

In meinem Fall hast Du also unrecht.

Und warum? on: November 02, 2014, 03:35:49 AM

249  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [SCAM] Blocknet on: October 27, 2014, 08:41:29 PM
thanks Spoetnik for posting this... My SCAM Blocknet Thread was deleted (maybe wrong section though.. didnt check)

anyhow: good that this gets some attention now
250  Local / Altcoins (Deutsch) / Re: Blocknet - Wer von euch ist dabei? Und warum? on: October 27, 2014, 08:37:54 PM

251  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Blocknet] The internet of blockchains / XBridge / true cross-chain P2P on: October 27, 2014, 11:48:39 AM

Why no whitepaper this will bring confidence in Investors. Xbridge is open source

exactly, this is all i really want...
not a pr person who admits not know the technics very well to describe something about it
252  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Blocknet] The internet of blockchains / XBridge / true cross-chain P2P on: October 27, 2014, 11:40:53 AM
OnemoreBTC, it is completely unethical to start a Blocknet FUD thread claiming that "Blocknet people don't give consistent answers" when the people answering your questions this morning aren't from the Blocknet (excepting me).

1) you claimed and described using other coins features for a little fee: i told you this wont work

- We have not discussed slippage. I linked you to my last post about it, but you haven't referred to it yet.

Quote
2) now its about services: you fail to deliever ANY technical infos about how to implement, find and use them

- Services aren't some new idea I've just introduced. Read the OP and the FAQ. It's not complicated.
- I have not delivered "technical infos" on implementing services because the application platform has not been created yet.

Quote
only thing left is the exchange between participating coins...
please provide technical infos (as you should have done weeks before your ipo start so people have a chance to check them)

- refer to the post I linked earlier and we can discuss it.
- the decentralised exchange has not been created yet, so the "technical infos" will not be code repos or something similar.

Quote
so i really think you just want to scam. i am not unethical: proove me wrong and i will reedit my other thread - i dont have a problem to be wrong.

- Starting a project with clear high-level information on what we're going to do,
- stating that we need funding to create this tech,
- and having am impressive track record of similar tech (XC's Xnode protocol, its ad hoc mesh networking, etc.),
does not constitute a scam, it constitutes a project in its early stages.

If you don't like the level of risk in our ITO, don't buy.
The level of risk is clear. We're not hiding anything about the stage the project is at.

for an ipo you need more than an idea saying "we want to join coins and have some kind of service marketplace"

i dont ask for sourcecode

OnemoreBTC, I have deleted links to your FUD thread because, in my opinion, you have severely insufficient basis for starting that thread.

I ask you please to delete your thread and to discuss things respectfully here.

as i said above: answer my question and i will happily remove it.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=836220.msg9344671#msg9344671

256  Economy / Scam Accusations / BLOCKNET IPO SCAM on: October 27, 2014, 11:20:03 AM
Hello,

BlockNet will start their IPO on Wednesday.

They have MANY claims what will work - but fail to answer any technical questions.

They are asking for 1Million $ (max) for essentially nothing.

They promised Coin A can use Coin B features which just a little fee
-> NOT true through exchange risk and slippage

They promised Services for all coins, but fail to show ANY concept how to develop and use them.

PLEASE BE SAFE AND STAY AWAY FROM THEM

if you make an IPO you dont need sourcecode - BUT you NEED to have some kind of whitepaper describing what you actually want to do. Not just an idea which shows unusable if someone asks a few questions
257  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Blocknet] The internet of blockchains / XBridge / true cross-chain P2P on: October 27, 2014, 11:16:31 AM

as i understand it blocknet doesn't implement services. its just the summ of all coins and by so their nodes connected by enabling the xbridge. so if amazon is a coin in you example. the walmart shop would be another coin joining OR the amazon coin expanding its service by hosting shops on its blockchain. both is possible.

the Blocknet is not an entity . Its the joining coins offering services.

this contradicts what synechist was saying
258  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto Kingdom - 1991 Retro Virtual World(City) on: October 27, 2014, 11:09:34 AM

259  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Blocknet] The internet of blockchains / XBridge / true cross-chain P2P on: October 27, 2014, 11:08:45 AM

Exactly this can be resolved simply by letting join all the coins that want to join the blocknet and then the fundation will then mark them as reputable of trust or not. that's it. the customer than can differ scam coins from others and no centralized control

still a little centralized (esp if you look at WHO is at the blocknet foundation - coindevs) but its ok - its a little like googles playstore vs amazons app store..

i can live with that
260  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Blocknet] The internet of blockchains / XBridge / true cross-chain P2P on: October 27, 2014, 11:07:31 AM

well btc is a special case . as i understand there are several third party btc wallets so one with the xbridge enabled could be build. regarding finding . the internet doesn't stop with blocknet arrival. this is getting started and a p2p google is a great vision btw but traditional vehicles of marketing your services available on the blocknet will still be used specially in the beginning.

let me rephrase that question: the internet has ip addresses and http as a well defined protocol to reach services.

what has blocknet in this regard?
i think its an easy question: blocknet is for services: so please tell me how i would implement one?

is it also like coins that the blocknet foundation has a say if i am able to publish it? (thats a little like amazon is needed to allow a walmart onlone shop)

You will need a blockchain service to be imbedded in the block-net , hence a new coin. It is not web 3.0

a new coin for every feature?
we are back to exchange risks and slippage... for every service...?

synechist said that services dont need an exchange to get used. which is true?
