61  Economy / Speculation / Re: I have seen the light on: June 26, 2014, 02:41:27 AM
Bitcoin sure is great. I feel like it could explode upward any moment now.
62  Economy / Securities / Re: Why Do You Invest? on: June 26, 2014, 02:30:28 AM
My personal experience has pretty much been inline with OP.  Every single security I've invested in on both Havelock and CS has resulted in loss.  At first I started investing in these things because I thought I was actually helping the bitcoin ecosystem.  It turns out I've been helping the twat-waffles of the bitcoin ecosystem.  Has been one helluva learning curve.

*not calling all security owners twat-waffles here (just most), I believe occasionally there are some that legitimately try to attain profitability, I just haven't found one yet that actually has.  Really starting to doubt I'm going to find the next Bitpay or Coinbase on either of these exchanges anytime soon...not with as small a bag as I'm holding :/

If you want to bet on bitpay, you could buy shares of D.BPAY on mpex, or if you want to bet against it you could grab some shares of the upcoming F.DERP which will be available soon.

This is a very informative post about Havelock listed (and delisted) securities. Could you make a similar post about the shares and funds listed on MPEx?
64  Other / Off-topic / Re: whats the deal with .orgs on: June 24, 2014, 09:58:36 PM

Not meaning to call out this site but what is the ruling with .org domains, can you legally have adverts on the site or does it depend on country?  I always thought .org meant non profit or charity ?

Why wouldn't an organization be allowed to have ads on their website? Just because they are non-profit does not mean they cannot charge money for things! Non-profit organizations need to pay for things, so they have to get money somehow.
65  Economy / Securities / Re: Is there a discussion thread for the feds bitcoin auction? on: June 24, 2014, 08:29:49 PM
Why did you put this thread in "Securities"? You should move it to "Meta".

Look over in "Speculation", there are a couple threads there about the feds' auction.

I could not find the speculation section..   I did not want to say hey I can't find an entire section!  makes me look really f'ing stupid or drunk or some dumb shit thing. LOL

In fact I read your post and I still can't find it.

I know speculation was where it might be I have read speculation threads a few times but I must be blind today.     Do me a favor and put a link to it up.  Every once in a while I miss the most obvious right in front of me.

How dumb are you?Huh Why do you want other people to do all the work for you? Do you have other people chew your food for you too?

Click on "Bitcoin Forum" or "Home" at the top of the page. There is a list of boards. Under "Economics" is "Child boards: Speculation". There are at least 4 threads in the first page on the topic you are looking for.
66  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bolivia Bans Bitcoins! on: June 24, 2014, 08:24:55 PM
Bitcoin doesn't care, bitcoin will go on without them. They are only hurting themself by stepping out of the world economy.

People will still use bitcoins, the more governments fight against bitcoin the more irrelevant they become.
yep.

Please use the "quote" feature when quoting blocks of text.
67  Economy / Securities / Re: [Havelock] RentalStarter - A Midwest Real Estate Investment Company on: June 24, 2014, 08:22:54 PM
Good news, Great progress.
At this point, I can care less what the share price is, divs look good Smiley

Thanks Branny.

You should care what the price is. If it is really low then you should buy some more shares, if it is really high then it makes sense to sell some.

69  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you USE your BTC? on: June 24, 2014, 05:21:52 PM
I use my bitcoins as savings. I buy bitcoins, and I am holding them until I need to buy something.

71  Economy / Securities / Re: Which stock securities do you recommend ? on: June 20, 2014, 04:29:27 PM
The only honest stock exchange is called MPex

I agree.

Mircea Popescue seems to like porn, if your business is sound and you know what you are doing, then listing there would be a good way to get funding.

For anybody from #bitcoin-assets, I am the new PeterL forum account.
72  Economy / Securities / Re: BITSEED on Cryptostocks on: June 19, 2014, 05:12:25 PM
Looks like a scam to me.

Do they have any PR on this forum?
73  Economy / Speculation / Re: FBI coins could sell for a premium on: June 19, 2014, 04:41:13 PM
There are such a vast number of bitcoins being auctioned in one go, the auction price could be more or less than the current market rate, but whatever price they go for, the market exchange rate will immediately go to that level. It will be interesting to see how this high-profile test of bitcoin's market price will turn out.
74  Other / Off-topic / Re: FIFA World Cup 2014!!! on: June 19, 2014, 04:36:36 PM
There are a bunch of FIFA related bets open on BitBet.us , put money on your favorite team and you could win some nice bitcoins!
75  Economy / Speculation / Re: What the heck does "Wall street is going to 'move in'" mean? on: June 18, 2014, 09:04:47 PM
Wall St moving in means people with deep pockets acquiring bitcoins. The general trend will be a large increase in the price if this happens. How will it happen? Some people will try to invest in "bitcoin companies" like bitpay. Some people will buy bitcoin on the street or directly from miners. Some Wall Streeters will try to invest in things like the Winklevoss bitcoin fund. It will start gradually, and then the price will jump by an order of magnitude or two like it has in the past, very suddenly. There will be a huge bubble as people try to pile in before they miss the boat, huge fortunes will be made and lost within a matter of weeks. The power will be held by those with actual bitcoins, and the people in Wall Street will use any means they can think of to get a piece of that pie.

This looks interesting. Are there many people using the server? I will try it out tonight.
77  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I'm having some doubts about whether it's ethical to make money off of Bitcoin on: June 11, 2014, 08:57:08 PM
Am I wrong in thinking Bitcoin is just a tulip bulb scenario in which an ever-increasing number of new investors is required to keep up the hype, and once there are no more greater fools left, it will crash and I will be rich at the expense of many people out there?

I mean, it's not like I'm investing in something that provides a real value to people. It's not like buying land and charging someone rent, or cooking a meal and setting it down in front of someone at a restaurant.

Yes, I know there is a tiny bit of value in what bitcoin offers that the old systems don't, but even that can only be realized in a best-case scenario (price stabilizes for years on end), which is highly unlikely to happen.

Tell me why I'm wrong and why I shouldn't feel bad for making a lot of money off of BTC.

You should not feel bad about making money off bitcoins. You are investing into the future of money, and so you deserve to earn something for taking that risk.

Think of bitcoins not so much as a way to make money as a way to save money. You investing money into bitcoin allows other people who need money now to take money out as they sell the bitcoins to you. Later, when you need the money for something, there will be other people who want to put money in and they will trade for your bitcoins.
78  Economy / Securities / Re: [Havelock] RentalStarter - A Midwest Real Estate Investment Company on: June 11, 2014, 06:30:55 PM
@pummle re. "14% monthly":  Sorry, reading fail on my part (and a typo).
The point still stands, though--a loan for purchasing real estate is something that banks are quite familiar with, since most people don't buy houses with a suitcase full of cash.

I believe Branny has addressed this previously, that all the banks he talked to said he needs a longer history as a landlord before they will consider giving him a loan to buy more properties.

With all the properties this company owns lien free, I find this almost impossible to believe.

It is a relic of the old money system. They just do not expect something like rentalstarter to appear.

Perhaps you could talk to the guys in #bitcoin-assets to see if there would be interest in funding a loan for an opportunity like this?

It's not a relic at all.  I own my house lien-free.  I could use it to collateralize a bank loan.  Trust me, banks have seen this sort of thing before.  let's not play us vs. them here.

There is a difference between you taking out a mortgage backed by your house and a business getting a loan. But I see your point, if the houses are owned free and clear, then the bank should be willing to issue debt with the house as collateral.

Branny, when you talk to the bank, do you just talk to the first person they point you at or do you insist on talking to a loan officer who has authority to actually make their own decisions?

80  Economy / Gambling / Re: What is the best bitcoin casino? on: June 11, 2014, 05:44:32 PM
I like bitbet.us , it is not exactly a casino, but it is an interesting place to make bets. You can even make money by suggesting interesting bets.
