1  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Seriously, though, how would a libertarian society address global warming? on: January 11, 2012, 01:13:44 AM
One of them is the cost of everything being in the wrong place. Humans have built farms, dams, ski resorts, cities, and all kinds of other things based on the current weather. If the Earth warms up, all of these things will be reduced in effectiveness.

What about the cost of preventing any changes of climate.

Not that I believe humans are capable to control global climate. This is usual communist megalomania.
This is so silly because climate has been changing since the beginning of Earth.

China has already won this game. It's time to put away the game of scarcity and play a more mature game.

Scarcity isn't a game. It's reality in the physical world.
5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The People's Currency? on: December 07, 2011, 02:03:12 AM
I don't like "The People's Currency", it sounds horrible communist-ish. Like The People's Republic of China. It's propaganda term.
Also it doesn't belong to all the people in the world. Technically it's owned by computational majority of the nodes in the network.
The term would suggest Bitcoins is egalitarian and it's not.
6  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Mt Gox & Britcoin have sold out to The Big Brother on: November 14, 2011, 04:41:02 AM
big exchanges need to cooperate with the government (...) Bitcoin is not about facilitating some sort of underground shady movement of criminals

You are contradicting yourself, sir.
7  Economy / Speculation / Re: intuitively, which option would you pick? 1, 2 or 3 (see image) on: October 28, 2011, 10:05:48 PM
heh, why is fiat winning? people are zombies following a hunger for paper money.

Because I can actually pay with it in shops, contrary to silver and bitcoin?

Isn't it what money is for?
8  Economy / Speculation / Re: How many wallets will be lost? on: October 23, 2011, 11:17:52 AM
How many Quarters, dimes, nickels, penny's, dollars will be lost?

With Bitcoin you can as easily lose a penny as a truck of money.

I can disable javascript and plugins per site in Opera. And that's what I did here.
I guess most browsers can do it with some addons.

11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Extreme bitcoin price fluctuation? on: September 08, 2011, 10:11:55 AM
About 3 months ago I bought a bunch of BTCs when they were at $20 per coin.  I have been monitoring the BTC price and it is now down to 6-7.  I'm kinda getting worried here.

Why has the price dropped so much?

When it went up by 2000% did you ask questions why?
Maybe you should have...
12  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Meze Grill not actually an exchange on: August 23, 2011, 04:34:43 AM
Word of an advice, take everything what BW says with a grain of salt.
BW isn't lying but often he is overzealous spin doctor and so isn't really the best source of reliable information.

13  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Porn on: August 19, 2011, 09:11:29 PM
Personally, I think pornography is wrong and degrading to women

But women also watch porn. Why would they watch something that's degrading to them?
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: A Better Coin on: August 17, 2011, 10:49:53 AM
Maybe it's because everyone's mad they couldn't be an unfair early adopter with such a currency.

There is nothing unfair in being early adopter. Still, I would prefer sinusoidal initial distribution:

Inflation would be much smaller in the first years and it wouldn't create impression that "it's a ponzi scheme!11". So I think it would be slightly better, but it's not like it's a critical issue. People overstimate the problem, on a free market the money naturally flows from idiots to people who are smart anyway, so given enough time it doesn't matter who was first.
15  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The new Bitcoin logo on: August 16, 2011, 05:58:28 PM
I'm sorry but if you can't print a logo on a pen-size gadget and keep it readable, it's not a good logo IMHO.
16  Other / Meta / Re: Why was this forum moved to bitcointalk.org on: August 12, 2011, 07:44:43 PM
And how did that solve anything?

Now we can talk about drug trade and prostitution for Bitcoins.
Or we cant?
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANNOUNCE] Ixcoin - a new Bitcoin fork on: August 11, 2011, 06:31:16 AM
I thought one of the fundamental characteristics of Bitcoin was the deflationary aspect, being a limited supply. If we just keep adding alternative currencies for no better purpose than having an alternative, doesn't it the same as printing more paper money?

No, because you can't send ixcoins to Bitcoin chain or the other way around.
The price of both currencies doesn't depend on each other.
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANNOUNCE] Ixcoin - a new Bitcoin fork on: August 10, 2011, 08:04:57 PM
So basically it's like Bitcoin, except with even more immensely rich early adopters (especially you)?
I don't see the point of this.

I would rather support a new blockchain with 0.5% / year initial distribution not 20% / year.

Any resemblance to real persons or events is purely coincidental.
