Bitcoin is decentralised money. Yes, you can store information in the blockchain. This has been done since literally Genesis: But that's not the point. There are much better ways to distribute media p2p. Bitcoin is for money.

Suppose there is a situation where the whole world starts using bitcoin as payment medium. I know it will not happen anytime soon may be first enforced in USA. What is the probability of this and what changes it will make in the society ?
It's hard to know for sure, but the governments won't have any way to change the interest rates. And that's powerful. Most countries now assume that they can control they fiat, and that's a massive thing. Many countries didn't want to join the Euro for example, so that they can continue controlling their own fiat, like the British Pound, Swedish Krona, etc.

Most candidates are clearly not Satoshi... People can believe anything they're told. I mean, some people believed this guy was Satoshi Nakamoto because that was his name: How crazy are people to really believe that for example? And some people even said Elon Musk, I mean, come on...

Curious if there is any movie about the making of bitcoin? I have only found that one documentary of Finding Satoshi but I will be more interested in watching a movie about the makings of bitcoin itself. Just like The Social Network where it showed how Facebook was made and what events led to one another. I do feel that a movie about bitcoin would make people understand it better and would be entertained in the process. Which actor do you want to see play as Satoshi if ever? I personally would prefer a take similar to what Stanley Kubrick did with "2001: A Space Odyssey". They never showed the aliens, but it was all implied, they showed their actions, the monolith, etc. Carl Sagan was hired as a consultant for the film, and I think Kubrick made the right choice given his advice. It's similar to Bitcoin. Satoshi Nakamoto should no be presented as a specific person, instead the movie could show emails, snippets of code, etc, and then focus on the reactions of other people to these things. Something like that would be way better than just showing any kind of person playing Satoshi.

~snip~ For discussion: How is Bitcoin considered safe if the Government can now access and decrypt private keys?** Also, is saying (for example) "Oh those are old addresses" similar to admitting all old addresses can now/soon be cracked by top experts? **(EDIT) Honestly, it's not completely clear if they literally broke Bitcoin's encryption, or busted into the wallet software and found the keys.
Your thoughts?
Bitcoin is still safe. It's safe because of math, not because you need to trust someone. They probably had access to partial information about the key, which made it possible to access it. It's basically similar to how many of the Bitcoin puzzles are solved. If you have some information about the key, it is easier to crack, but if you don't have any information, then it's pretty much impossible. Just have a look at the Satoshi-era addresses still holding BTC... if anyone was able to crack them, the BTC would have been long gone.

I was reading Karpathy's implementation of Bitcoin from scratch in Python, and he commented: # recalculate the target at every epoch (2016 blocks), approx 2 week period # note that Satoshi had an off-by-one bug in this calculation because we are # looking at timestamp difference between first and last block in an epoch, # so these are only 2015 blocks apart instead of 2016 blocks apart ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I think he is actually correct. That number should be 2015, and not 2016, right? Or is there something I'm not considering?
