1  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: WTB : Older Generation Miners on: June 27, 2019, 08:52:51 PM
Phillip , Thanks for bringing this up

The with PSU price I am using for reference here is for miners with built in PSU's ( whatminer/ebit E9.3, ect) .. which tend to be on the lower end price-wise.

I would be happy to pay more for the higher quality brands, better power efficiency and what not.. so I wouldn't really be expecting a S9 14TH under 200 with PSU.

4  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Mining in South American and Central Asian countries on: June 26, 2019, 10:25:30 PM
Chiquita built on the infrastructure developed by United Fruit Company, famous for turning latin american countries into massive "Company Towns", which is why central American and Caribbean countries are refered to as "Banana Republics"

As someone who professionally manages international businesses with locations the 3rd world locations such as rural China, Philippines,Russia, Ukraine , Costa Rica Panama and Brazil , I can tell you that the environment for businesses in most of Latin America is in fact considered toxic, even by Chinese or Russian based international firms...

The lengths you must go to to insure success here insure that only locals , with direct connections and a superlative knowledge of the local workforce, ever have a chance of even getting started.. And even then the success rate is in the low single digit percentage rate.

Imagine managing  a workforce that has a legal right to receive up to 1 years salary if they are fired for any reason after working their first day. no probationary period.. no exceptions to the rule.. unless your willing to bribe a local official to look the other way.

Edit: This is not to say that you cant run a bitcoin mine down here.. Its just a lot more difficult than other places, such as East Asia.
5  Economy / Computer hardware / WTB : Older Generation Miners on: June 26, 2019, 09:11:08 PM
I am looking for 100-200 older generation miners, algorithm is not important.

Looking to pay $8-13 per TH for SHA256 miners in the 10-18TH Range...depending on the brand, condition and which PSU is included

Let me know what you have available, I need to miners to be delivered to Panama, but am willing to work with a seller to figure that out.

As a note, I will insist on using well known escrow.

8  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How to figure out the top? on: January 10, 2018, 09:22:21 AM
I agree with  hitrawal91 , read about technical indicators or check out some of the stuff on technical trading for forex or equities...you dont have to know it all to get a good idea when to enter or exit...

Generally you need to know how to look at the order book and gauge the support levels .... Also trying to get out at the top and in at the bottom all the time is impossible no one ever knows the top or the bottom. The idea is to earn money consistently  try to set a target to earn on each trade and don't be to greedy...if you make 5-7% per intraday trade your doing great ..
9  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: I found bitmainant.com and ordered today is it real or fake? on: January 10, 2018, 09:08:01 AM
90% of those stores are scams.. ask in the marketplace - goods- computer hardware section
10  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How to know about next pump? on: January 10, 2018, 09:04:18 AM
I just dont get the P&D scene.. not only is it illegal but pump and dumps dont just screw over noobs... often people participating in P&D and other market manipulation can end up holding the bag. And believe it , no matter how safe you think you are, sooner or later the authorities are going to catch on...

Legitimate investors get screwed over as the Cryptocurrencies markets look like the wild west..drawing in additional regulation and scaring away the larger investment community, which results in less adoption and depressed overly volatile crypto prices overall...

... If you P&D a legit coin with a team that is trying to make a difference in the world with there offering ( however small it might be)  you screw the coin permanently as long terms investors don't get involved in coins that P&D.. vendors don't want to accept coins that rise 5000% then drop back down.. the point of these currencies is often to be used for transactions, investors with real money wont buy into those currencies and they are often permanently ruined.

Let me suggest an alternative... find a few coins you support and help them to grow by personally putting in some work. Your efforts are better spent convincing stores to accept your favorite crypto, growing the community, helping to improve the coin, evangelizing the benefits than by P&Ding for a short term gain.. which screws over so many people that they never again are involved with crypto- driving down prices overall as we loose there support and they spread the news over how they lost it all trading cryptos

I know people want to get rich, but just because you don't know the victims doesn't mean its not theft,

11  Economy / Goods / Re: Buy Teak Trees with Bitcoin and Save the Planet on: January 10, 2018, 07:08:59 AM
I don't know anything about the OP but

I buy lumber in Latin America for a guitar company I am involved with and there are a lot of these teak farms in Latin America, you can even get local citizenship in exchange for the investment in Costa Rica and Panama (typical wealthy people make the investment to get the tax break associated with citizenship in those countries)....  you can google Costa Rica or Panama teak investments if you like. I know these investments have been controversial for a number of reasons

From what I can tell is the OP is giving the total return over 20 years to harvest the wood, assuming the yield is at 100% and the prices go up  .. but that might end up being pretty low when considering the annual return...
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: I need a little guidance.. on: January 10, 2018, 06:51:30 AM
The best strategy for someone new, is to read as much as possible, watch what happens for a while, after a few months. You have to know the the scams and shitcoins from something real before you put your money at risk.... In the meantime sit and hold your investment in top 10 market cap coins only.

If you want to learn about trading, don't take any courses or pay anyone for information... go to Youtube and learn about forex and equities trading so you can get some idea of the basic principles.. and remember crypto markets are unregulated, which means that market manipulation is rampant. Try to learn about market manipulation so you don't get caught up in illegal pump and dump schemes or HYIP schemes

Remember one thing... If it sounds to good to be true... it is ! Your better off earning 5% a month than loosing everything on an uninformed decision.

I am not sure what you consider a good price... I know that D3s 19G have been trading as low as 900 here.

If its confirmed they work with the S3 , if so I would be interested in being part of a group order of at least 20 units

18  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Critical Security Release: Please update to Electrum 3.0.4 on: January 07, 2018, 09:13:25 AM
Are firefox users protected regardless? I thought firefox quantum would not allow json exploits.
19  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: SHA256d IC design question on: January 07, 2018, 07:28:02 AM
I would never settle for just borderline aspergers on my engineering teams when I can hire full on aspies instead.

My main objective was to try and figure out if there was a way to get something to market quickly enough to challenge the incumbent players, the thing that bothers me specifically with bitmain is that they unfairly mine, driving up difficulty then release the parts into the market..

I started out in dram so I know once you get to the point that you need to do transistor level layout its a lot harder to jump into a new market essentially from scratch...and its become clear to me that there is no shortcut in terms of buying the IP from a defunct company as everything has advanced so much since anyone with a reasonably fast chip has been in the market... a better focus would be a "breaking" a different algo

that being said Its beyond my scope of knowledge but I wonder if there is a more efficient way to go about hashing fundamentally.

Bitmain  BM1382 calculates 63 hashes per clock cycle (Hz) and BM1384 calculates 55 hashes per clock cycle.
BitFury's BF756C55 is claimed to have 756 cores for about 11.6 hashes per clock cycle.
20  Economy / Computer hardware / WTB- old miners on: January 07, 2018, 02:59:41 AM
I have a big space to fill and  will consider any of the following miners. I obviously prefer newer miners but for the right price I will take older units

Antminer- S5, S7,S9,T9,R4
Avalon 6/721/741
Spondoodles- SP50, SP35
Whatsminers-Any
Ebit-Any
Bitfury
