the amount of money they spent for infrastructure alone will be billions and cancelling the Olympics entirely will not be an option.
Cancelling the Olympics will be a huge loss for Japan as they have spent billions building all the infrastructure but things are not clear on how they are going to proceed with the event.

Already postponing was a huge loss. Since Japaneses are so perfect in planing they already sold most of apartments where contestants will seep. Since games should be months ago at this time new owners of apartments already planed to move in. So now since games will be next year they will have to live for a year somewhere else. This games should be somewhere in Balkan and they would build a infrastructure a year after the plan so right on time Smiley
just to clarify are you saying that the new owners of the apartment built for the Olympics will have to live somewhere else or just until the Olympic is over? I am curious how much the apartment and what compensation the new owners will get since they won't be allowed to live in the apartment they bought for a year.

do you have a source for this? I'd like to read the full story.

Talk of this was when decision for Olympic postponing was decided months ago. I am sure is not hard to google and find.  As the plans was at this moment Olympics should be over and apartments where athletes will live should be already in hands of new owners. I have no ideas how they solved that problem. Maybe they sold them cheaper or they got them substitute apartments for a year. But such problem can happen only in Japan where they have all pre-planed for years in advance.
503  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2021 NBA Season on: November 30, 2020, 01:24:35 PM
Rumors;
The Golden State Warriors and Houston Rockets each had high hopes for the 2020-21 NBA season earlier in the offseason. Since then, Klay Thompson has been ruled out due to a season-ending injury— leaving Stephen Curry as the sole active member of the “Splash Brothers.” Meanwhile, both James Harden and Russell Westbrook want to be traded.

If this trade will come into reality, what does it make the Warriors?

I dont see that as a reality. Warriors should get young players and pay them to gain experiences s when next year add Kay they go for playoffs. To trade their future fro a star that will retire in few years seems very bad. Westbrook will go to a team that will compete for championship.

It's been a bit like a balloon on a long string in a wind storm, lately.

Monero goes 10% up or 10% down in a day. But at the end of the week it is still $120 as it was at the start. Best stable coin out there.

I am bored of this $12x&$13x prices. Time to move on.

6 weeks passed and still waiting. So boring.

Mavericks' J.J. Barea: Back with Mavs.

Quote
Barea signed a one-year, $2.6 million guaranteed contract with the Mavericks on Friday,

He did contribute very well during his stint with Mavs, and since he is back, I'm sure he can come out from the bench and could spark some rally specially if he still have that magic touch in 3's (which I think he does at his age).

I think that is J.J. Barea's home the Mavericks, he enjoyed his best season with the team and if I'm not mistaken he was part of the team when they won the championship back in 2010-2011 so it's just a going back home party for him.

And yes, he could come from the bench if needed and there will be no chemistry issue, he just need to familiarised with new plays and rotation.

Mavericks have now 16 players on rooster. When season start one will have to be cut off. Speculations are that Barea was sighed just to increase pressure on new guard rookies in the training camp. And when season start he will be become one of assistant coaches. Maybe Mavs also want he plays a farewell game that was impossible to make last year because of covid-19 pandemic and playoff bubble in Orlando.
508  Economy / Speculation / Re: Calling top at $16500 (Even Newer!: $2483 bottom 19 Feb 2021 MtGox said so!) on: November 28, 2020, 06:41:18 PM
Can we have a crash because of a realisation we will not have enough vaccine ready before end of Spring?  Right now everyone have in their head, we will get vaccine in December and they will start vaccinate first medical staff and then elderly and sick. But there will be barely enough vaccine made for them until April. And only after April will be available for normal working people. Economy, stock market and Bitcoin might realise that right about in January. This plan seems to be the last rescuing straw for a $2483 bottom on 19 Feb 2021. But can it happen? I would say 99.999% nope.

Here is why btc will die as a crypto

Scaling cant be reason for Bitcoin to die. Why? Because if it cant scale over as it is now then will still have as much transactions as today. Since today is not dead so will not be 10 years from now. But. I am sure Bitcoin will have much more transactions 10 years from now as there are right now.  Will it have all transactions in existence as some Bitcoin maximalists predict. No not at all.

As we approach ATH what is different compared to 2017?

I think that right now way more people expect Bitcoin will make x10 next year as they did at end of 2016 and start of 2017. This sort of scares me since masses are usually wrong in crypto. But on other hand, my knowledge of crypto is much higher as it was in 2016. So i maybe more listen to those that know then those that dont.
512  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Will Monero (XMR) ever break its ATH price? on: November 25, 2020, 01:03:05 AM
For everyone, that believe that Queen of England will use a cryptocurrencies where every peasant will be able to snoop on her transactions, I here explain that will never happen. She will use cryptocurrencies with opaque ledger. And none opaque ledger cryptocurrency is better then Monero.
513  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: November 24, 2020, 08:13:07 PM
I have no ideas what happens this morning. Price went up to 0.0077 and then in 4 hours time down to 0.0066.  Someone try to manipulate price? Or is just someone that got rich recently trading. Or there is a big bunch of dumb rich just started trading.
514  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Capital Gains Tax on: November 24, 2020, 07:36:12 PM
Hello all, I am so new to this .
My cry for help is; I recently sold up my bit of a bitcoin, which went to binance. Then this was passed on blockchain.com
Blockchain are asking me to pay the uk Capital Gains tax upfront of just over 5G. Is this normal practise or is it not. They wont release the funds until I do this, which thought was a bit iffy but as I`m a newbie I thought I`d ask the people who have a better idea than me.
I live in the UK.

Sounds like you were phished. You entered somehow fake website that someone made and practically gave them whatever you deposited. Whatever you do do not send them more coins or whatever they want from you.

Top on 3 Reasons, Why XRP Price is Pumping very hard

XRP has been releasing 1 billion XRP from escrow accounts, every month, for the entire bear market. They used this to dump on investors and used the money to build Ripple, the physical company.
Then, after most of this original community and investors capitulate, they announce a buyback, times with a BTC rally and they pump the price, causing another retail FOMO and gains of like 100% in a week.
Bankers will scam! Very soon Bitcoin will say bye bye bankers, you can scam yourself.
516  Economy / Speculation / Re: INFLUENCE OF BITCON ON ETHEREUM's PRICE on: November 24, 2020, 06:14:39 PM
THE FACT BEHIND THIS METHODOLOGY IS THAT THE PRICE OF ETH SHOULD BE 1/17TH OF THE BITCOIN AT CURRENT CIRCULATION RATE

Supply is only one factor to determinate price. Much more influential factor is demand. If demand will decrease so will prices of any coin. That will happen when bear market hit. Same as happened in 2018. Supply was very similar in 2017 as in 2018. Prices was very different because of different demand.
517  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin retirement account on: November 24, 2020, 05:38:45 PM
Bitcoin has two major advantages:

1. Privacy, in a way we can save our bitcoin unknown to theives if all creteria for safety is considered and applied.

Bitcoin have transparent ledger. When you open Bitcoin blockchain explorer you can check any wallet and see what is there and where coins come from and when they will went. Everyone can see it.  When you have money in bank or wherever only bank know you have money there. And a hacker that hack the bank information's and the ones  that hacker sell those information. Or the one bank sell those information Smiley   Not everyone as with Bitcoin.  Lack of privacy is Bitcoin biggest flaw that sadly no one is aware of.
518  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: November 23, 2020, 10:49:04 PM
Looking pretty strong...

We need some good news. Maybe something like: Because of fake news that CiperTrace can trace Monero transactions, all fake volume exchanges in South Korea decided to list Monero again. Oh and that Arabic UAE exchange Bit Oasis or how was named. CiperTrace need to be more vocal so those people on other side of the word can hear them.

Also today on monero sub reddit someone was talking about stock to flow ratio and had some strange numbers so i went to calculating it and I got this.

Gold Stock to flow ratio for last year was 59.9 as this article says https://seekingalpha.com/article/4357409-golds-stock-to-flow-ratio-and-why-matters
Bitcoin stock to flow ratio of right now is 56,47
Monero stock to flow ratio of right now is 65.79
Monero>Gold>Bitcoin 65.79>59.9>56,47

Stock to flow ratio is only a pressure on supply side. You cant predict price with it. It is only one factor.
519  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Quick Help Me about scammy exchange on: November 23, 2020, 10:23:37 PM
Is wbfex.com / wbf.info exchange a scam?
I deposited some tokens there to sell but when I try to trade them but every time I try it says "The current price is lower 1000% than the last price"
and I cannot create sell order and people just keep buying/selling like there's no tommorow that token
(The buy/sell book is almost empty but the recent transactions tab is filling like every 3 seconds)
IDK what to do, their exchange doesn't seem a scam since on coinmarketcap they have like $2B volume

You are not scammed if you can withdraw your tokens. That exchange have fake volume. So I suggest you to take your coins out and move to some other exchange.
520  Economy / Economics / Re: Another stimulus bill in line for the US on: November 23, 2020, 09:00:08 PM
Pumping money into the economy has its disadvantages as it could lead to inflation.

Money is pumped in the economy constantly. But those people that get it are buying stocks. Stimulus checks are spent for goods and not fro stocks. So this is right way to pump money in the economy. Even better would be to build needed infrastructure.
