1  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: How about Avalon Miner? on: April 30, 2023, 07:17:21 PM

Power Efficiency   30J/TH, -5%~+8%@25℃

As per standard with Canaan all their latest miners are worse performance J/TH
Been like that since the beginning ... ...

I now understand why they are so cheap compared to Antminer and Whatsminer

If you feel confortable with the location, Lybia is a great option, the cheapest grid electricty worldwide
3  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Mining Facility container or hangar / Staff / Monitoring questions on: February 18, 2023, 12:03:24 PM

I was wondering what is the best option. Should I run couple of "ready to go" mining containers  or is it better for me to set up the hangar as a mining place and run the miners inside the hangar?
Do not build a hangar, this may be a mistake. If you talk to investors, they will ask what you will do if electricity prices change or mining is banned. The container can be quickly taken away and installed in another territory.

yeah he had the hanger with no wiring setup and no cooling.

It is easier to get the containers. they can be moved.

and if he finds three used containers he can fill them to 60% and have a safer load on the. with the ability to unload one to the other two if it fails.

or sell one of them down the road.

thanks Philipma. Price for 20ft containers are 40-60K approx. Do you have an idea how much would be a used container?
4  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Mining Facility container or hangar / Staff / Monitoring questions on: February 18, 2023, 12:02:05 PM

alternatively, you can just sell your power to someone who has enough money, experience, and staff to run the farm, you can probably sell it for 3 cents and make 30k a month doing exactly nothing.

Thanks for your feedbacks guys, this is very informative.

Candid question : Is there a lot of players on the market able to come over and setup the whole farm and running it?
5  Bitcoin / Mining / Mining Facility container or hangar / Staff / Monitoring questions on: February 09, 2023, 10:05:24 PM
Hi everyone,

I'm thinking running a hosting facility as I have access to very cheap elec (1cts $/KWH). I have approx 2MW available now and probably more, elec is from grid. I have a 800mē hangar nearby the transformer + 3000mē open air secured property.

I was wondering what is the best option. Should I run couple of "ready to go" mining containers  or is it better for me to set up the hangar as a mining place and run the miners inside the hangar?

Also 2MW is approx 650 S19 miners. Do you guys have an idea how many staff 650 Asic require in terms of basic hosting?

Last but not least, what SaaS/app a mining facility is using for their client to monitore the miners?

Many thanks for your feedback,

L

7  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Mining Facility Spec question on: December 12, 2022, 02:57:36 PM
you can't run 100 units.

you can run 80-90.

350 x 80 percent = 280 kwatts once you derate for safety.

280/3 = 93

that is assuming every s19 uses 3kwatts.  that is a fair assumption.

cooling is complex. but a s19 pushes about 450-500 cfm

90 x 500 = 45000 cfm minimum exhaust.

three of these would work/

https://air-movement.com/product/48sw750-slantwall-exhaust-fan/
https://www.globalindustrial.com/p/hessaire-48-belt-drive-box-fan-48x750s-n-1hp-1ph-19210-cfm-with-shutter?

and two of these for intake.

https://hessaire.com/products/mc92-m350
https://www.acehardware.com/departments/heating-and-cooling/air-conditioners-and-coolers/evaporative-coolers/4893236?

90-m2 is 900 square feet or 30 by 30 foot room

if you have room for the 3x 48 inch exhaust fans on 1 wall

and room for intake air at least 4 x 48 inch square I would think you can cool it.

 air >>>> wall with openings >>>> 2x 11000 cfm evaporator coolers >>>> GEAR >>>>> EXHAUST FANS>>>>>>

USE WASHABLE AIR FILTERS LIKE THESE

https://www.cartergoods.com

how to wire by 16amp do you mean a 20 amp derated to 16 amp for 24/7/365 use.

as 16 x 240 = 3840 watts derate to .8 x 3840 = 3072 you would be borderline.

here in USA we use

a 20 amp. so 20 x 240 = 4800 watts derate by .8 = 3840 watts and no issues.

I do recommend separate circuits for each unit.

if you do 2 to one 40 amp you could have one unit shut off and not pull power while the other shorts and pulls 40 x 240 = 9600 watts

Wow amazing, thanks.

regarding this  air >>>> wall with openings >>>> 2x 11000 cfm evaporator coolers >>>> GEAR >>>>> EXHAUST FANS>>>>>>

Does the gears has to be just in one vertical line?
8  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Mining Facility Spec question on: December 12, 2022, 02:52:39 PM
Need a lot more information but probably not enough space and airflow.

How large are the windows? Can you but in large loud high speed fans?

What is the average humidity? Higher humidity will cause issues if you are just opening the windows rather then running the air through some form of chiller.

Design of the space? An open square is different to cool then a long rectangle.

Ceiling height (heat rises spacing the miners out will help a bit)

Will you need sound baffles? What is nearby that may cause problems due to the noise of 100 miners screaming away.

And so on. The forum can only get you so far, you will need a talk to a local architect and engineer to get the rest of the way.

Wow quick response! Below some more details.

Windows are 1,5Mx1,5M

Humidity is 80% but cold air

Space is an open square.

Ceiling is at 7m high.

Nothing nearby so no need of sound baffles

Many thanks for your help.

9  Bitcoin / Mining / Mining Facility Spec question on: December 12, 2022, 11:00:44 AM
Hi everyone,

I need some advices from the experienced miners here running their own mining facility.

I have the opportunity to get a warehouse with a surface of 90mē.
I got two windows on each side of this warehouse where I can create an airflow.
Power available is 350KW

I plan to run there approx 100 S19
Yearly temperature variation lowest 0 up to 15 degrees max

Do you guys think 90mē is enough space for 100 S19? or is it too small?

Also, regarding the mainboard, should I install a 16A breaker for each S19 or a 32A breaker for each 2?

Many thanks guys,

L
10  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / BTC Mining OS on: October 13, 2022, 09:33:14 AM
Hey guys,

I'm about to finalize a small data center a bit distant from my place (900km).

I will have a local guy to reboot and halt gears when it's needed.

What OS do you guys recommend for managing Asics by distance?

Many thanks,

L
11  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Bitcoin Mining Machines and ASICs (Hardware) on: September 16, 2022, 11:00:16 AM
I think you need to make it clear what standard you use to list them as "the best". <snip>
The' Best' all depends on the buyer - not some random person's thoughts... Most hardware guides here are pretty clear on that: 1st pick your criteria and choose from either speed, efficiency or, service life and go from there. There are no miners that are the top in all 3 areas.

Personally I use service life as my #1 and that means any of Canaaan's Avalon miners.

In normal use, according to your experience, which ones get less issues? Antimners or Canaan?
12  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Which UK Buildings are suitable for mining? on: September 16, 2022, 10:57:16 AM
Rent a small industrial warehouse, you usually get more power there.

But before stepping in, just make sure the electricity price, I'm not from the UK but I guess it's pretty exp at the moment
13  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Bitcoin miner in Holland on: September 05, 2022, 09:15:54 PM
This is a post for meet expert miner in Europe. I don't know much miners and I would like meet they Smiley

I'll be in Amsterdam for ADE next October and I'm mining BTC but my advice is to check out the Elec cost which I guess must be very exp in Holland now!
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining in Lebanon on: September 05, 2022, 09:09:52 PM
Hello everyone,

I'm from Lebanon and I was thinking to start mining, I know ETH is switching soon to POS but it would still be worth it to mine ETC and Raven?

Here we got a huge electricity outage, so I was thinking to install solar panels and inverters just for the mining rig, what do you suggest me?

On top of that would you recommend me to go with GPUs or an ASIIC

thank you for taking time reading this

Can you advise how much is the KWH in your country please?
15  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Mining Farm Europe on: July 10, 2022, 08:52:18 PM
It's way too much
16  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Mining Farm Europe on: July 10, 2022, 08:36:13 PM
It's a 2021 figure.

Please compare month by month between 2021 and 2022, you'll figure that 2022 is at least twice of the monthly values from 2021 which means 2022 will be at least 14cts / KWH for Finland

Datas from here => https://www.nordpoolgroup.com/en/Market-data1/Dayahead/Area-Prices/FI/Monthly/?view=table

On top of that price, you have to add grid fees.
17  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Mining Farm Europe on: July 10, 2022, 08:13:16 PM
Welcome aboard!

Europe with the actual rising price regarding energy is not the best place to set up a mining farm except if you have a very specific deal with a energy provider or Dam privately owned etc.

Also you have to bare in mind some countries have pretty high fees on top of the elec price, such as Sweden where the grid fees are more expensive than the electricity price for instance.

Could you let us know what area in Europe you have in mind to set up your farm
18  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Current Cost of s9 and best place to buy on: July 03, 2022, 08:03:48 PM
Wow first time i heard that about them. I thought they were legit, they are a trusted vendor on asicminervalue.com

Saw used S9K at 85 USD from AKMINERS (shipping on top)

Be careful dealing with AKminers they are bad sellers many people are complaining and being scammed by that seller.
Also, some people receive broken units so better stay away from them.

If you are looking for cheap units I suggest you contact offordscott
Which is way more trusted than Akminers.

Interesting thanks. Do you have any website to recommend for searching such facilities?
I always struggle to find online the available power at the facility and often owner are wrong regarding this information.

Many thanks,

Larson311

Sales tax has nothing to do with mining.
If you are only worried about power cost then for a large farm you are doing it wrong.
If you can move into an empty DC or factory or other facility that already has all or at least most of the power / cooling / infrastructure you are already there.
Because doing it properly can cost 10s of millions and take months.

If you want to do it quick and dirty then yes you can move in just about anywhere with cheap power, then all you have to worry about is the infrastructure failing or not having stable power.
