AliExpress has them for $48, plus $3 shipping.
Yeah I know, but aliexpress is not an option for me right now since they refuse to accept my cards after last refund I requested from them for their shitty service and for not receiving what I ordered  Tongue
Device is also not available on official website or on ebay, and all other website I found have much higher price, so I will just pass.
Another thing I heard from other users is their screen is not the best, and it's easy to get malfunctioned or broken.
That's too bad you're having an issue with aliexpress and cannot get one, they have always been in stock there for $50. Next time you come across other users having issues with their Amigo send them to our Telegram channel, or reach out to our Twitter account, okay amigo?

Krux has the user take a photo & uses that image as data for additional entropy.

Thanks for response.  Could you head me to the proper source of this information? I've sieved their GitHub account but didn't find anything relevant.

I'm an owner of  Passport 2 and looking for the decent companion to my wallet to use it as a cosigner in multisig.

Krux might be viewed as candidate  if it would meet my requirements.

Which github account were you viewing, this one? https://github.com/selfcustody/krux

Can any of you tell me about the encryption Krux uses for creating encrypted QR codes?  Odudex, I hope you see this Smiley

Is Krux required to decrypt QR codes that were encrypted with Krux, or does Krux use some sort of standard such that anyone who knows the correct key and the method of encryption can still decrypt the QR codes years from now even if the Krux project no longer exists?

I'm asking because encrypted QR codes seems like a brilliant idea, but it's also dangerous in terms of future-proofing if the only way to decrypt these QR codes is by using Krux.

I have a full review of Krux on the way, but I'm still trying to learn more before finishing it.  Here's the short review though:

Krux is an amazing - and amazingly powerful - hardware wallet option which more people need to check out.  Buy a Maix Amigo and install Krux on it.  You'll be glad you did.

Krux:

Experimental Krux binaries on github:

...this is the version I'm running.  It's very stable and polished.

For the review, since you're on birdsite, feel free to tag their new Twitter account: @selfcustodykrux

Don't think I've came across a story for the name actually. As for your Amigo being on backorder that's too bad. Which site and continent are you ordering from if you don't mind me asking? Usually there is someone somewhere that has them in stock.

I know, I am aware of it. Thing is, I am not able to post pictures because I have a newb account. Otherwise I would have done the same as everyone else...
Don't worry about the pictures and your newbie account. If you want to write a review explaining a little bit about your setup, then go ahead. Make a new post, write what you want, upload the images to Imgur and place the links in your post where you would like to have those pictures visible. I will quote it for visibility, so the pictures can be seen on the forum.

Then when you rank up to Jr. Member, you can post images without restrictions. You can already place them in img quotes, and when you get promoted to a higher rank they will pop up.

Gotcha, but honestly I have built too many to share in one post that's why I shared my Telegram chat which has almost all the possible DIY bitcoin projects shared in there (pics+info). Jade, Specter DIY, Seedsigner, Krux, Bowser wallet, LetheKit, LochaMesh, etc. I usually create a thread on Twitter each time I build something to explain the process simply if anyone else wants to try.

FYI there are different DIY bitcoin hardware wallets...
I know there are. I am aware of them. We have a thread on this forum with Open Source Hardware Wallets and DIY solutions are part of it. If you have a hardware wallet you built yourself, do the same as everyone else. Post a few pictures of it, give us some feedback based on your use of the device, and you can also explain how hard/easy it was for you to build it.

Should add Jade DIY hww to the list. Blockstream has a repo on their github specifically for esp32 related devices. See here for visuals: https://twitter.com/notgrubles/status/1355209508335841280
Jade hardware wallet is already in this list for some time and I know it's open source.

New hardware wallet added today is called Hito.
They are still in pre-sale phase, and they promised to release open source code when they complete pre-sale, but I would be careful and wait for github links to be released.
Additionally, someone (like WalletScrutiny) should verify if code is going to be reproducible or not inreality.

I'm just saying Jade has retail, and DIY device options

Not really interested in a shitcoin hww, but thanks?

FYI there are different DIY bitcoin hardware wallets displayed in this Telegram chat: t.me/DIYbitcoin

I'm most partial to the Specter DIY, then Krux. I like how Krux has several options for devices. If you want something simple, just get the Maix Amigo, but if you really want to DIY you can build the Maix Dock (soldering involved). Just need to print a case for it now! https://t.me/DIYbitcoin/4839

I just ordered one and I'll keep yall updated on how the build process goes.  Cool

I hope you opted for M5Stack Core2 ESP32 AWS Development Kit with built in Secure Element.
It costs couple of dollars more than regular M5Stack but it is superior in many ways, with built in encrypted chip ATECC608 that makes it safer, touch screen, almost five stronger and better battery, longer type-C USB cable, and size is almost the same as basic M5STack.
Only problem is they run out of stock very quickly so you need to be fast when ordering Smiley

I think the Bowser wallet is a neat project, but should only store small amounts of bitcoin, if any. Have you tried flashing the AWS one? I don't think it works

That's cool! I wanted to get an M5Stack anyway to play around with. A question about the secure chip: does the firmware actually recognize it is running on a M5 with secure chip & use it or is it not used? I mean, if it's not implemented, then having it on the PCB won't help.. Grin
M5Stacks are a great little devices and sometimes you can find them on discount deals for very cheap.
Secure element is used for sure and it should be recognized, if you watch the video on their product page you will see that it is used for encryption.
Interesting; I had no time yet, just read the README and it says:
Quote from:
the mnemonic is stored in an accessible location on the device
...
the wallet details are only pseudo-secure on the device

Maybe it's old info from before they supported this secure element, or maybe there's another reason that somehow makes the seed accessible, even though it's secured on a secure chip. A clarification would be helpful. Grin

IIRC the code for the Bowser wallet doesn't support the AWS M5stack device - it only supports the M5stack Basic Core+Fire devices

Lol:

And though this might just be a standard disclaimer, why would I go with a product with some code with this warning:

Quote
WARNING: While functional, this is currently alpha-quality software and could have bugs or other issues that might cause you to lose your coins. Use at your own risk!
...when for about the same price I could buy a Trezor or Ledger?

On a positive note, it is very small and doesn't look like a standard HW wallet.  On the other hand, from the pictures it looks rather cheaply-made.  I'm not at all familiar with M5Stack, so I could be wrong.  Am I wrong?

is that the m5stack website? depending where you are, try digikey, mouser, farnell, aliexpress, etc. they are almost always in stock somewhere.
