101  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: About to buy my 1st Bitcoin on: December 04, 2015, 06:45:48 AM
Safest thing to do with a bitcoin, especially if you are keeping 1BTC for 5-10yrs, is cold storage.

Like I said, its the safest thing to do IF you can actually put your cold storage (piece of paper with a QR code and BTC address on it, backed by encryption (password)) somewhere safe.

EX:
> Safe at home
> Bank, Safety Deposit Box

This will allow no security threats via WAN or internet.

Coinbase is secure but for the user , YOU, it can become 'hacked' at any given time and you can lose your BTC. It has not happened yet and I hope to God that it does not.  Just to make you aware it can happen.

Another easier method would to be putting your BTC on a local machine at home or on your phone.  That can be done by downloading a wallet and making an encrypted backup and uploading the backup to a Flash Drive, Cloud (can become compromised), Printout of QR Code.

MAKE BACKUPS!! Cannot stress this enough!

Hope this helps
102  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Thinking of Starting a Pool Based in the US. on: December 04, 2015, 06:27:57 AM
kano you developed cgminer?

I agree with the forum.  Any newcomer that opens up a pool and asks for those to join is not very smart right now.

Its like buying something off of ebay from a seller with 0 feedback, common sense.

You've got to spend the time with the community and focus on reaching out to others and contributing before making a major move like opening up a pool.

Laviathon not trying to be against you but rather help you with my opinion and view on this topic.

The 25btc escrow, you guys are some rich mofo's haha,

Wrong  ebay will act as your escrow if you buy from the guy with 0 feedbacks.

Ok well you are wrong for calling me wrong: you and several other 'trusted' members here on the forum are acting as an 'ebay' escrow for Laviathon

Wink

OK how's this ...

100 pools will not make Bitcoin better.

100 good pools will make Bitcoin better.

You won't make a good pool by point and click and watching youtube videos.

Or think of it this way:

If I wanted to make an airline company ...

Since I don't want to pay lots to get the right people who know their business in airline management, good pilots, pay airport fees, make sure the planes wont be falling out of the sky due to not having highly skilled maintenance people, etc, etc, instead:
I want a point and click video on how to do it ... surely anyone can create a good airline company after watching a youtube video ...

Nice point there

Nobody can create a top notch pool through point and click videos.  But...

I too have thought of starting a pool, but really i just want to be involved with a group/community/business involving mining.

you can learn from others.

Also I might add,
JohnyBravo0311 I joined your pool, if you need any help let me know

A newbie here as well, I too have thought of starting a pool, but really i just want to be involved with a group/community/business involving mining.

I've checked out the limited number of YouTube videos explaining how to setup a back and frontend via Ubuntu.  It seems somewhat complicated for a first time pool creator, but hey, thats how we all learn!

Does anyone have any pointers? I too am interested in feedback.  And Bravo I can contribute 1.4Th/s lol, thats all I have for now.

Looking forward to your reply

109  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Pool server software - CoiniumServ vs UNOMP on: December 03, 2015, 12:40:45 AM
I am very interested as well in an answer or advice for this.  I've recently acquired some good server hardware, physical firewall, domain, and a good pipe to the WAN.  From reading a few things on google I noticed that uNOMP is popular but I havent dug around deep enough to prove that.

Here are some videos I found on YouTube in setting up the back and front end:

GOOD NEWS! Our petition was taken into consideration by the Secretariat of OPEC - Support Services Division.

registration number: 18-0614

Support Services Division
Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries
Helferstorferstrasse 17

Vienna, Austria
______________________________________________________________________________

This is our petition:

"
Dear Secretary General of OPEC HE Abdalla Salem El-Badri, and representatives of the Member Countries !

We send you this letter for the purpose of careful consideration.

In today's world is increasingly taking place in the global market turmoil due to non viability of existing financial systems. Along with that, throughout history, the consumption of petroleum products is growing, and the GDP of many countries depends on the oil price.  But the strangest thing about this is that as a result, the budgets of Petroleum Exporting Countries is still directly dependent by the U.S. dollar, the issue of which is not controlled by your country. Likewise, any currency of another country can not be controlled by society, why convert your wealth to the paper?
Our proposal is to replace the instrument and translating the whole system for open electronic payments. Already, we have developed a personalized e-currency to pay for the exported oil - OPEC Coin.

This currency has all the positive characteristics:
1. Limited quantity - ext. emission is essentially impossible.
2. Absolute independence from the current situation on the global and local financial markets.
3. Security operations and asset protection.
4. Practically no costs to maintain system performance.

Sure that for you and for the people of this question is very important, so we are fully prepared to interact with you on the proposal!

Sincerely, the team of crypto-currency OPEC Coin.
"

With litebit we can buy OPEC Coins with euros, some peoples who don't have much khashes can buy the coins with euros Smiley..
So that's why i am pushing, so far DoctorG and me has donated, so we need more then 10 peoples to donate, so donate please.

Every donation counts one vote. there is no minimum so please donate..

Edit: It would make OPEC better if we can arrange more then 10 donations before monday.

Please donate to the Donation address in my sig..
they will choose Monday the most donated coin and will be added to litebit.

we need more donation, i have already donated 100 opc, if 10 more donate 100 opc we have 11 votings and will be listed monday.

https://www.litebit.eu/addcoin/en/

Never heard of them , but only one person has voted so far?

That quite bad!

Im voting.

Could do with more than 2 votes people come on!

Voted!

Been mining at "opc.hashhot.com/" for a little over a half hour, no coins have shown up yet.  Is this normal for this coin or should I consider moving to dif pool?

http://opc.pool.mn/ very good  Grin
I confirm, that's the one I choosed too and it's working well Smiley

Yep, they are working great.  Don't mine this coin at "opc.hashhot.com", I mined with them earlier for about 45 minutes and still nothing in my account there!
I tried this one at first and it was taking into account only like 1/3 of my hashrate so I switched to opc.pool.mn

OPC.POOL.MN awesome!

why people specially sell so cheap? they are stupid or wish buy cheap coins? 1.7 btc and price will be 1000

It's not necessarily people but automated processes spawned by multipools and the some unsuspecting panicked newcomers.
Dont feel bad, I spent quite a bit and bought in at .00008 lol then again at like .000005 now its .00000197
