Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can We Consider Bitcoin To be An Anti-Government?
|
on: February 16, 2018, 02:04:51 AM

something can be an alternative without being anti.
ultimately bitcoin is what people decide it will be. in the early days many people did see it as a way out of government, specifically bank, control. nowadays i'd guess most users don't really care either way. they just want to make money.
the powers that be know their stuff. they'll position bitcoin where it'll coexist with fiat. if people want to go full off grid then no doubt the options will be there for them but it won't be of interest to most users.

have you checked the track record of these forks? it's freaking wretched. bcash came out of nowhere and it was in august so that was long before the price went crazy. since then each fork has been getting increasingly pathetic until now no one pays them any attention. the well is dry. guess it's time to move on to other coins.
most of the people who were fomoing during december won't know what a fork is.
so that's a no.

BTC has just 7 transactions per second. Bitcoin United can cruise beyond 10,000 transactions per second without breaking a sweat.
with one block every 8 hours on occasion? wow. that's real impressive. this is truly a magical fork. there are no users. the leadership is non existent. it didn't actually fork in a known manner. united bitcoin truly is sorcery at the highest level.

there are people who visit porn sites without ad blocking and using stuff like noscript? wow.
is it ok to say that i don't really have a problem with this? it seems like a pretty fair exchange to me. i've no idea how they do it but it wouldn't bother me unless i was rendering something.
it's crazy how toxic advertising has become. we get the content providers trying to guilt trip us into stopping blocking but hit you with the most offensive, blaring, invasive crap. the last time i went on the internet without blocking i felt like my mind was melting.

Though I haven't personally used them yet, I know people have had success with MisterTango (Lithuania based, EU only) and WageCan (Taiwan based) cards, neither are issued by Wave Crest. Thinking about giving WageCan a try, despite of the high fees.
yep. they work. but they're pre existing cards. i was referring to stuff like the monaco card. it promises a huge amount. it's delivered nothing. any time on these sites i see something along the lines of 'available to token holders' i click away immediately.

Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If convicted, will Tether USDT crash the markets?
|
on: February 14, 2018, 07:11:15 PM

didn't people notice the recent Upbit declaration? they said they'd take on Tether's backing for their customers if something did happen to it.
this is classic BFX. they offload their obligations on others because they know that others are now too tangled up in their evil plans to let it fail. if tether really was shut down I think it would have a big effect.
those who claim it's priced in are either blinkered or not thinking it through.
it does depend on the nature of the shutdown. i think the most likely reason will be them flouting every law known to man. in that case it would suck.
if it was because it was comprehensively proven that tether's value had been conjured out of thin air all the way through, that's gonna be much more cataclysmic. it'll cause people to question the valuation of the entire market.

Come to think of it, would be curious to see other corporate types and "rebels" come here.
they could all be here for all we know. if i wanted to shill or pick up knowledge via this forum i probably wouldn't let my identity slip. i doubt this forum offers him the instant gratification that twitter does. it would be interesting to observe if he did show up here.

it looks like yet more card based vapourware. i'm starting to get seriously tired of these.
not a single one has delivered a functioning card that people can use as far as i can tell. i wish they'd stop linking these things to some bullshit token or ico and just issue cards that can be loaded by anyone's bitcoin.

if you're willing to pay him then i'm pretty sure he'll turn up anywhere and any time and do anything.
i wonder if he's gonna snap out of his current insanity and return to being a yogi or whether he's on a downward slide into hell. things would certainly be very different if he cleaned up his act and stopped being insane.
i'm fascinated by him because he's a public figure who it's possible to compare against a time when he was not a violent paranoic.

I think the idea behind introducing the merit system is very, very sound. There were so many ridiculous posts and some users were posting the same thing over and over in multiple threads just to pump up their post count.
this might end up causing something similar. posters will be throwing as much out as possible hoping they get some merit. if they don't then they'll start over again in another thread. when ranking up was automated it didn't really matter what anyone wrote. though obviously something needed to be done i'm not looking forward to some of the morons out there attempting to be verbose to court the audience. obviously if they still don't get anywhere i guess they'll eventually give up and go away but there'll always be waves of noobs thinking along the same lines.

on: February 13, 2018, 12:21:33 PM

Question is whether our new friends that will get their accounts activated over the course of the next few weeks are still interested in Bitcoin now that its bull run has seemingly ended.
i'm gonna lean towards a no on that myself. dumb money, which usually means new money, only appears riding the final crest of the wave. it does not revive or create bull runs. it's the first to leave and the last to show up again.

not as trivial as all the other forks
say what you want about the average shitfork, at least most of them work as advertised and are upfront about their premines, or sometimes there are even none. united bitcoin must be the worst run fork out there and is a flat out insult to regular users. before you even take the distribution into account, there've been periods where there wasn't a block for hours. considering the supposed caliber of the people involved, i can't believe how pathetic and useless it is. a bunch of school kids could do a better job. it's mind blowing to consider that jeff garzik was planning on running bitcoin itself.

Economy / Speculation / what effect have the exchange registration closures had?
|
on: February 13, 2018, 01:03:42 AM
|
as far as i can tell there are still quite a few exchanges where new users can't register, which considering it's been months for a few is a surprise, and then there are others such as bitfinex that did reopen but increased the minimum amount to $10,000 before new people could start to trade. this has been going on since slightly before the peak.
what effect do you think this had on the markets since december, if any? has a huge amount new blood been denied and subsequently stopped a pump or softened the dump or would their effects have been negligible?
as far as i know there's never been a period where so many newbies couldn't get in on the action.

how many people stayed on those trains to the end of the line? very, very few. how many people will do it again in future? just as few.
that's fine. that's how it should be. but it should also be a lesson to the dumb people on here who think they're heroes flipping a coin for a few bucks and sneering at hodlers.
to get the really powerful returns you have to wait years and sit through what seems like an eternity of nothingness and fud. that doesn't mesh too well with the mindset that's hungry for returns in the thousands of per cent.
what's the moral? zoom out and sit it out.

Hack Ethics is an experienced Private Hacking Organization with a spare master key that no one has. We can also help you recover your lost BTC or ETH.
so you're telling us that you have a 'master key' that'll get you into any bitcoin or ethereum wallet? that's some seriously impressive firepower you have there. you'd be better off going to goldman sachs or the chinese government than hanging out with us nobodies. and as you have a way to generate any private key you must also have a computer larger than the known universe. can you post some pics? we'd love to see it.

It's hard to compare a crash from 60$ to 20$ to a crash from 18000$ to 6000$.
that's what i was expecting until it happened. everyone told us that the bigger it would get, the slower and less violent the moves. to me at least i can barely detect any change at all. we can still shed 10-30% in a few hours without blinking. i must say i'm very surprised by this. anyway is there someone out there willing to put together some stats about bitcoin's sideways and consolidation moves? they usually last for much longer and it might be more informative about the future. alot of the time bitcoin doesn't actually do very much.

let's wait and see what the mainstream markets do before figuring things out. it's a very interesting moment right now. we might find out if the two markets are correlated or not. if they're not then that's a very powerful sign.
until now bitcoin has had the luxury of growing up during seemingly never ending asset bubble. if that ends and bitcoin continues on its way onwards and upwards then things will get very interesting and possibly very quickly. there'll be a vast amount of money looking for a new toy to play with and bitcoin's slowly been edging its way towards the centre of the stage.

there are two likely reasons for that. the main reason is that it's in korea. the korean market is closed to outsiders. no money can get in or out so the prices do their own thing and pretty much ignore the rest of the world because the rest of the world can't touch it. even then that price is much, much higher that the other korean exchanges. this almost always means something is broken somewhere. i'll guess you can't deposit btg there. if coins could flow normally arbitrage would wipe that premium out. no one turns down free money.
