Goldencoin is has been delisted from exbitron.com SMH i think its a good thing for the future of Goldencoin. So move your sh!t off into your non custodial wallet. something aint right with that exchange but I aint the only one that thinks that.

hello coinvader.

Do you already have the server to host the faucet, or you will need one?

You don't need to reinvent the wheel, there are a lot of faucet codes on GitHub, and you could install one of those in your server. If you want send me your Telegram user name on PM and we can talk about your project. I can help you with this.

i can get a server easily check your PM

looking to adopt an official symbol/logo for tBTC here is the design.

do we have anymore ideas?

I like the clear label of "TESTNET" on it... I think that could contribute to the lack of confusion.

Our current testnet logo definitely could use an update.

I like the blue and the dots on yours.  It's sharp!  Good job.

Heres an idea:  making T of the vertical strokes

I like that, I think that's a better idea. I may use that instead
6  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: Bitcoin, Groestlcoin testnet faucet (coinfaucet.eu) on: March 27, 2024, 01:27:03 AM
OP can you help me integrate a faucet on http://bitcointestnet.org? I will pay you in BTC

Anyway you can make another one just for my site where I can embed it on the page? A separate one I don't need it directly through my site just make another one that links to my site on your site. I want to give out .001 tBTC every hour.

Hello, I'm sorry, but I probably can't help you. My faucet is a closed solution (security).
You could try to find some faucet on github (if there is one).
But personally, I don't think you want to run a faucet, it probably won't even make you money to run, and donations are rather exceptional.

I don't care if it makes money I just want to add one to https://bitcointestnet.org. can you create a separate faucet with the logo and have it so I can embed it on my site with a code? A separate one I won't need it directly through my site just make another one that links to my site on your site. I want to give out .001 tBTC every hour.

9  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: START mining the testnet on: March 23, 2024, 06:15:00 PM
Another option for developers is to just fork Bitcoin and create your own chain so then you could test it all you want without worrying. CASE CLOSED!!! LET the testnet live. People just dont want anybody to have Bitcoin thats what Satoshi wanted. Less than 1% of the wallets hold most of Bitcoin. The testnets worse i gotta say and those coins need to allocated. But atleast it would give people a chance to get whole coins. instead of just satoshis. If the testnet is a problem to the mainnet then the mainnet is insecure.
10  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: START mining the testnet on: March 23, 2024, 07:07:10 AM
There is no reason for tBTC to have any value at all. It's available for FREE from faucets. Yes they usually have a low & slow payout but so what? Ones does not need whole coins to test with. Just as with BTC, small fractions of a tBTC are processed and work the same as whole coins.

It's not SUPPOSED to have value, that is true, but it's still a functioning PoW chain which means you need electricity, hardware and money to mine. If it had NO value then faucets would give away 100 coins for free, but they don't because it costs money to mine, and it's not easy to obtain large amounts when you need a modern ASIC to mine testnet.

I ran a BTC faucet from 2014-15, giving away free bitcoin in exchange for ad revenue. That didn't mean bitcoin had no value and that's the same trade testnet faucets are making today.

The low payout of faucets is a problem. Saying you don't need larger amounts for testing is a myth repeated by many. Bitcointalk runs on PHP and MySQL and a large portion of the web still does. MySQL's max integer limit is 2,147,483,647, and it's best practice to store bitcoin amounts in satoshis, not floats. Therefore you need at least 21.48 tBTC to test your database and all aspects of your site and/or connected apps can handle integers larger than 32 bits.  Is a deposit larger than 21.47 BTC likely? Probably not on most sites, but it's not impossible, and that's the last order you want to screw up when you switch your site to mainnet because you didn't test your site properly.

Devs aren't the only ones needing larger amounts, so do bitcoin companies. When exchanges and bitcoin companies do technical tests for their new hires, they use tBTC and they don't use 0.0012 faucet amounts, they use full coins. I can speak from personal experience.

Instead of shaming people with false narratives some devs like Jameson Lopp understand the need for larger amounts and will gift larger sums to other devs, but he doesn't have an endless amount to give away. Not everyone is generous as Jameson and larger sums are now being loaned and/or sold by others so users can get the amount they want/need.

That's a great point and I'm trying to figure out some other use cases for tBTC.

I say the testnet is more silver to Bitcoin gold instead of Litecoin. If not its atleast Copper
11  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Can someone make a testnet BTC exe? on: March 22, 2024, 10:05:26 AM
I've got that wallet. I'm looking to separate the price of the testnet coins
Okay, so the actual use-case is to use a separate fiat-value which most wallets do is just stamp the value of mainnet to testnet.
(which is reasonable considering testnet has no "real" price)

Without questioning the rationale to that (I saw your other posts), it's quite doable by dirty-editing the price ticker APIs set by your favorite wallet.

For example, in Electrum's "exchange_rate.py" script; editing any USD price class to an API that supports testnet should show you the testnet price when that ticker is selected.
For example; from Bitpay's mainnet API to coinpaprika's testnet API:
Code:
class BitPay(ExchangeBase):

    async def get_rates(self, ccy):
        json = await self.get_json('api.coinpaprika.com', '/v1/tickers/tbtc-bitcoin-testnet')
        return {'USD': to_decimal(json['quotes']['USD']['price'])}

Then, by selecting Bitpay in the GUI's menu: "Tools->Preferences->Fiat", Fiat Currency: "USD" Source: "Bitpay"
It will show testnet price based from coinpaprika's API (link) instead (but will also apply to mainnet):

If you really want it, edit the mentioned code and compile it yourself: github.com/spesmilo/electrum/blob/master/README.md#creating-binaries
I run Electrum from source to test it as quickly as possible BTW, so I don't have a compiled binary.

This is genius i didnt know coinpaprika had tBTC price from altquick.com thats what tBTC community needs.

14  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: START mining the testnet on: March 21, 2024, 03:36:59 PM
Mining on testnet is already a losers game. The reward is too low, and you need an ASIC if you don't want to wait for the 20 minute difficulty reset to 1. And even then if you get lucky you only are rewarded 0.012tBTC plus fees.

You'll spend more than 4 days with an S19 to mine a single tBTC not to mention the energy cost at 3,250 watts.  It's MUCH cheaper to buy testnet coins. Testnet coins would have to be worth around $30/40 per coin to make mining on testnet worth the energy and hardware costs.

Here's a bitcoin testnet mining calculator: https://buytestnet.com/bitcoin-testnet-mining-calculator.php

I see the reward is very low but I think the testnet coins should be worth  at least 1% of the mainnet price
15  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Can someone make a testnet BTC exe? on: March 21, 2024, 03:32:35 PM
Why?
Without a valid reason, no one will think about creating a dedicated testnet wallet for you for free.
If you're willing to pay (in bitcoins, not testnet coins), you can post it in the services board: /index.php?board=52.0

What's the difference in using Bitcoin Core: bitcoin-qt --testnet? That should work if you need the whole testnet blockchain and a wallet.
Otherwise, any other wallet that supports testnet will do.

I saw the Bitcoin core has the testnet wallet option in it.

I don't  really  get your question...
If you mean an exe app that stores testnet btc, there are wallets that allow testnet  btc mode like Electrum and Bitcoin  core .
You can just swithch to testnet mode by launching the exe in a testnet mode,in bitcoin core current installation  using the GUI, the testnet  is also installed along with your standard  bitcoin core separately by default.
If this seem not to be what you meant then elaborate  more......

I know about those wallets i mean one that is dedicated to the testnet only the testnet.

If you don't mind Android wallet, check https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.schildbach.wallet_test. Other than that, i don't know anyone else who bother create testnet-only version of their Bitcoin wallet sofrware.

I've got that wallet. I'm looking to separate the price of the testnet coins

17  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: BITCOIN TESTNET supply on: March 20, 2024, 07:11:25 AM
There hasn't been a reset in over 10 years. The supply may reach its max in another 10 years. It would be stupid to reset it in my opinion but I'm aware it can happen. It is worth the risk now that bitcoins reward will be less than 1 BTC in 8 years. They should at least wait until the max is reached to see it complete and be tested. All of us will have disembodied before Bitcoin's mainnet reaches its max supply. We can at least get to see the testnet3 reach that point and experiment with it. It should bring more scarcity to the mainnet and push up the value. I could see a reset happening before or after max because of the low reward of the main. But they should leave it alone since its been over 10 years until it is complete!!!
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] Bitcoin Testnet3 tBTC NOW BUYING!!!! on: March 20, 2024, 06:42:36 AM
Bitcoin Testnet can be reset and attacked, among other undesirable things, TBTC is an excellent choice for developing, testing, and learning.

Dont bash or ask why... just do it

I will pay Bitcoin if you are selling just post it on

here are some other links to buy testnet Bitcoin and get free tBTC from faucets.

https://buytestnet.com/

I also used https://buytestnet.com and it worked well for me!  I like that it is pro-privacy and no registration needed.

There's a mining calculator on the site which basically suggests the price of tBTC would have to get over $20 tBTC for mining to be profitable!

Makes sense why so many people are buying instead of mining.

At current prices tBTC also presents a good risk/return at 10-20X from current levels. Grin

I didnt even think of it that way I just thought the price should be atleast 1% of the mainnet that would be $600 for 1 tBTC currently.
