"Bitcoin market cap exceeds $20 billion"
I guess the people who continually spend more than they have are not so hot at math.

Can you explain why you bought mining equipment? I think it was pretty clear that people over invested in mining and I'm curious why that happened, why buy mining equipment and not just bitcoins?
Because free money yo. At least, that's what it looks like until you do the math. I have a feeling though, based on the posts in this sub, that most amateurs have stayed away from mining this year.

A side thought: Decentralized exchanges seem to be an inevitable step for bitcoin. Problem is, centralized exchanges like coinbase are making millions. They have a lot to lose if decentralized exchanges take over.. So, I think that we will start to see centralized exchanges like coinbase fighting to maintain "control" in a similar fashion to how banks and governments are doing with bitcoin in general. Thoughts?
It's the sort of fight cryptocurrency should thrive on. I, for one, can't wait to see exchanges built into every wallet of every coin.

Myth: As a bitcoin rises in value, more people hoard the currency as it becomes too valuable to trade for something else. This effect dictates that Bitcoin will never be useful as a currency.

If a pool starts behaving badly with its miner's hashing power, miners will leave that pool. Simple. A rich kid wrecking Bitcoin? Maybe DDOS the network and stop it in its tracks for a few hours. And what would he achieve?
|

Think the other way around: Why would it happen and stay 51% for a long time? Miners are not going to destroy Bitcoin - It's their investment at stake. The mining power is not controlled by large mining pools, merely "administered".

It's becoming ever more clear to to me that the communists are actively trying to centralise and control Bitcoin.
Assholes want to micromanage peoples daily lives, thoughts and have the ability fuck with your money at will.
Keep bitcoin decentralized at all cost!
Aiming to centralize and control random stuff is naturally for communists. Failing to do this is also in their nature. Communinsts is the last thing to worry about.

I am telling you, if we can get Nordstroms and Bloomingdales to accept BTC, we would be at a whole another level of mass adoption. That would make so many women interested in using BTC.
LOOL this is so true!! And we will have to change the background to smth pink-ish cuz the ladies will flood the forum and ask for changes.
